Day 1 - Athens - Mykonos
Arriving in Athens, your journey begins with a morning transfer to the port for a ferry ride to the stunning island of Mykonos. Upon reaching this legendary island, where mythology tells of Zeus's battle with the Titans, we’ll head to the hotel for check-in. Once settled, you’ll have the liberty to explore at your own pace. Mykonos is famed for its charming, narrow streets, picturesque Little Venice district, and the iconic windmills. Take the time to soak in the vibrant atmosphere and discover the island’s unique allure. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mykonos
After breakfast, you have the day to immerse yourself in the delights of Mykonos at your own pace. We suggest exploring Delos, revered as the legendary birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and one of Ancient Greece's most sacred sites. Alternatively, you might prefer to unwind on the island’s renowned beaches, such as Paradise and Super Paradise, famed for their vibrant atmosphere and beautiful sands. Whether you choose to delve into history or lounge by the sea, Mykonos promises a day of relaxation and discovery.
Day 3 - Mykonos - Santorini
After breakfast, we will head to the port to board a ferry to the captivating island of Santorini. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is for you to delve into the delights of Santorini at your own pace. Renowned for its fascinating history and stunning geological features, this island is a feast for the eyes with its iconic whitewashed buildings topped with blue domes. The spectacular views and warm local hospitality promise an unforgettable experience. Please note that the sequence of visiting Mykonos and Santorini might be reversed depending on hotel availability.
Day 4 - Santorini
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely day exploring more of Santorini at your own pace. We suggest visiting the charming town of Oia or the traditional village of Agia Irini for a taste of local culture. If you're feeling adventurous, you could opt for a sail to the hot springs and experience the sunset from a classic Mediterranean boat, or embark on a panoramic tour of the island, complete with a Santorini wine tasting.
Day 5 - Santorini - Athens
After breakfast, we'll make our way to the port at the scheduled time to catch a ferry to Piraeus. Expect to arrive in the late evening, around 11:00 p.m., giving you the opportunity to relax during the ferry ride and perhaps reminisce on the amazing experiences of your trip thus far.
Day 6 - Athens - Kamena Vourla - Kalabaka
Today, we set off early for northern Greece, with our first stop at Kamena Vourla, a charming coastal town nestled among stunning landscapes. Continuing our journey northward, we pause at the historically significant Thermopylae Mountain Pass, the legendary site of the battle that has been etched in history. Our next stop is the picturesque village of Kastraki, where you’ll have some free time to enjoy lunch amidst spectacular views of the valley. After lunch, we venture to the Meteora, an awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its towering rock formations and monasteries. Admission to one of these remarkable monasteries is part of our visit. The day's journey concludes with dinner served in Kalambaka.
Day 7 - Kalabaka - Delphi - Athens
Our day starts with a scenic journey south through the picturesque Thessaly region, providing beautiful landscapes as we travel to the renowned archaeological site of Delphi. Here, we will explore this exquisite site, perched above the Gulf of Corinth and offering stunning views. You'll have time to pause for lunch amidst this historical backdrop. Our next destination is the impressive Hosios Loukas Monastery, celebrated as one of Greece's most beautiful Byzantine structures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery's 11th-century mosaics are a true marvel. In the evening, we will continue our journey, arriving in Athens where you can unwind after the day's explorations.
Day 8 - Athens - Aegina - Poros - Epidaurus - Nafplio
Our adventure today is set against the backdrop of Greece's enchanting Saronic Islands, with Aegina and Poros as our destinations. We begin our morning with a ferry ride from the hotel to Aegina, an island with a rich history dating back over 4,000 years. You can explore the scenic harbour, delve into quaint neighbourhoods adorned with charming houses and historic churches, or visit the ancient Greek Temple of Apollo.Continuing our island hopping, we board another ferry for around an hour and fifteen minutes to reach the vibrant island of Poros. Here, you'll have the chance to soak up the lively atmosphere, with charming old houses climbing their way to the island's iconic clock tower. Take some time for a leisurely stroll and enjoy lunch amidst these serene surroundings.In the afternoon, we take a short 15-minute ferry crossing to Galatas, a picturesque coastal village nestled in the Peloponnese. From there, our journey leads us through splendid hillside scenery on the way to Epidaurus. This historic site is renowned for its ancient theatre, built 2,400 years ago and still in use today, with a seating capacity for 14,000 spectators. Admission is included, allowing you to marvel at this remarkably preserved piece of Greek heritage.We'll conclude our day in Nafplio, an attractive coastal city distinguished by its citadel and Venetian fortress. Here, you'll have some free time to explore the winding streets and soak in the unique ambiance. Dinner will be provided. Please note that ferry schedules may vary, particularly during the off-peak season, which may affect the visit to Aegina Island.
Day 9 - Nafplio - Tripoli - Olympia - Patras
We will travel through the picturesque mountains of the Peloponnese to reach Tripoli, the capital of the Arcadia region. You can explore the lively Areos Square, where inviting cafés and restaurants await. Afterward, we'll continue to Olympia, home to the ancient Olympic Games first held in 776 BC. Here, you will explore the Archaeological Site with an included ticket and guided tour. Highlights include the Temple of Zeus, the Stadium, the Gymnasium, and the Arena. Our journey continues to Patras, Greece’s third-largest city, known for its bustling port and medieval fortress. The city is home to Greece's largest cathedral, a renowned pilgrimage site, and the nearby ancient church of St. Andrew. This evening, dinner will be served.
Day 10 - Patras - Nafpaktos - Mycenae - Corinth - Athens
Following breakfast, we cross the impressive Rio-Antirrio bridge, a remarkable cable-stayed structure linking the Peloponnese to mainland Greece. Our first destination is Nafpaktos, situated on the Gulf of Corinth. This town, known historically as Lepanto, boasts a Venetian fortress with a view over the city, recalling its pivotal role in the famous naval battle between Christian forces and the Ottomans. Here, Cervantes famously lost his arm. You’ll have some free time to wander around its charming harbour and explore the delightful old town. As we continue along the Gulf, our journey takes us to Mycenae, renowned as the birthplace of European civilisation. This vast citadel from the 18th century BC is accompanied by an admission ticket, allowing you to delve into its ancient history at your own pace, with time to enjoy lunch. Our exploration continues with a visit to the formidable Fortress of Acrocorinth, where the remains of a temple dedicated to Aphrodite can be found atop the settlement's highest point, and tickets are included. Finally, we make a quick stop at the Corinth Canal before heading to Athens, where we will arrive in the evening.
Day 11 - Athens
Following breakfast, our tour concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of this journey.
