Itinerary
Day 1 - Delhi to Amritsar
We collect you from your independently booked Delhi hotel between 5–6 am and board the Swarna Shatabdi train to Amritsar. On arrival, our representative welcomes you and shares an introduction to the city’s culture and heritage during the transfer to your hotel. After freshening up, we head to the Wagah Border to witness the evening flag-lowering ceremony, where Indian and Pakistani soldiers perform synchronised drills – a distinctive display of protocol and tradition. Later, you can soak up Amritsar’s lively evening atmosphere before turning in for the night.
Day 2 - Golden Temple & Dharamshala
We begin with an Amritsari breakfast before visiting the Golden Temple, taking time at Harmandir Sahib to appreciate its serene setting and striking Sikh architecture. We continue to the Central Sikh Museum in the historic Clock Tower, then experience Guru ka Langar – the community kitchen where a free meal is served to all. We also visit the Durgiana Temple, known as the Silver Temple for its ornate doors, and the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, which displays artefacts, paintings and weaponry from the era of the Sikh Empire.
After lunch, we set off by road to Dharamshala, travelling through changing scenery towards the Dhauladhar range. On arrival, we check you in to your hotel and you can unwind amid the mountain backdrop.
Day 3 - Mcleod Ganj & Dharamshala
After breakfast, we drive up to McLeod Ganj – often called Little Lhasa – and begin at the Tsuglagkhang Complex, which includes the Tsuglagkhang Temple, the Dalai Lama’s residence and the Tibetan Museum, offering a thoughtful introduction to Tibetan culture and history. We then stroll through streets strung with prayer flags, where you can browse handicraft shops or pause at a café if you wish. We visit Bhagsunag Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva – you can take a dip in the adjacent sacred pools – and continue to Bhagsu Waterfalls to admire the cascades amid the greenery. We round off the afternoon at Dal Lake, a tranquil spot fringed by deodar trees beside the Durgeshwara Mahadev temple, before visiting the Church of St John in the Wilderness, a quiet reminder of the region’s colonial-era past. You have the evening at leisure in Dharamshala.
Day 4 - Return to Delhi
After a leisurely breakfast, we check out and drive to Dharamshala airport for our flight back to Delhi – with views of the plains below on a clear day. On arrival, our representative meets us and organises a smooth transfer to your hotel, bringing your journey through Amritsar and Dharamshala to a close.
