Day 1 - Rome
Welcome to Rome, the starting point of your exciting journey. Upon arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, after which you'll have some leisure time to unwind and explore at your own pace. In the afternoon, be sure to check the information boards at the hotel reception for details on the beginning of your tour. Enjoy your first day in this captivating city, rich with history and vibrant culture. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Rome
On the morning of our second day, we embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, affectionately known as the Eternal City. We'll enjoy a captivating blend of a walking tour through Imperial Rome and a scenic bus ride, unravelling the history of one of Western civilization's most storied cities. Our journey takes us past the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the iconic Colosseum, and the Imperial Forums. We’ll also glimpse the ancient grandeur of the Circus Maximus and the historic Baths of Caracalla. The Basilica of Saint Mary Major and the distinct Pyramid of Cestius add to the panorama, culminating at Castel Sant’Angelo. Our tour concludes at the Vatican City around 11:00 a.m., where you may choose to join an optional excursion to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. In the evening, we'll arrange a transfer to the lively Trastevere district, famed for its convivial restaurants and vibrant ambiance. We'll return to the hotel at approximately 8:30 p.m., drawing an inspiring day to a close.
Day 3 - Rome
Today offers the freedom to explore Rome at your leisure. If you wish, you have the opportunity to embark on an optional excursion. Between April and October, you can choose to visit the stunning island of Capri, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. Alternatively, from November to March, you can explore the historic sites of Naples and the ancient ruins of Pompeii, soaking in their rich history and unique charm.
Day 4 - Rome - Florence
Today, we depart from Rome and journey north, taking in the picturesque landscapes en route to Florence. Upon arrival, we'll head straight for the Michelangelo Viewpoint, which offers a stunning panoramic view of the city. After this, we will walk to the historic city centre. You'll have some free time to enjoy lunch before we embark on a guided walking tour with a local expert around Tuscany's capital—renowned as the birthplace of the Renaissance and a hub for influential artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Raphael. Our exploration will feature the Gothic Duomo, the ancient Ponte Vecchio with its traditional goldsmith shops, and Piazza della Signoria, the political heart of the city, home to the medieval town hall. The afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure. Please remember to wear comfortable footwear for your time in Florence.
Day 5 - Florence - Venice
We depart Florence early and journey northwards, navigating the scenic Apennine mountain range towards the enchanting city of Venice. On arrival, we’ll transfer by boat to the city centre for an enlightening walking tour of the San Marco district, where you’ll witness the grand Basilica and the iconic Campanile. Our exploration continues with a visit to a Murano Glass Factory, where you can observe the skilled artisans demonstrate centuries-old glass-working techniques. After a day of discovery, we'll retire to our accommodation in the Mestre area for the night.
Day 6 - Venice
Enjoy a leisurely day to fully immerse yourself in the enchanting city of Venice. Stroll along the winding canals, wander through its historic streets, and uncover the unique allure of this one-of-a-kind destination. Spend your time as you wish, whether it's by visiting renowned landmarks, indulging in Venetian cuisine, or simply soaking up the atmosphere of this captivating city.
Day 7 - Venice - Padua - San Marino - Gubbio - Perugia
We begin our journey today with a visit to Padua, a city cherished by pilgrims for its splendid Basilica of Saint Anthony. Our exploration continues along the beautiful Adriatic coast to the independent republic of San Marino, perched strikingly on a majestic, fortified mountain. After enjoying lunch, we travel through the scenic Apennines, immersing ourselves in the stunning mountain vistas, on our way to Gubbio. This well-preserved town captivates with its notable sights, including the grand Palace of Consuls and its 12th-century cathedral. Our day concludes as we arrive in Perugia, an enchanting Italian city awaiting your exploration.
Day 8 - Perugia - Assisi - Rome
Today, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of the beautiful historical city of Perugia, famously known as the city of chocolate. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, we'll traverse the city's unique moving walkways, navigating through its rocky outcrop. Prepare to be enchanted as we discover the medieval underground city, featuring stone-paved streets and quaint squares that capture the essence of its rich history. Later, we'll journey back to Rome, arriving in the afternoon. As our tour concludes, you'll be left with cherished memories of this remarkable journey.
