Day 1 - Tokyo
Welcome to Japan! Upon your arrival in Tokyo, you will be smoothly transferred to your hotel via a shared shuttle bus following customs clearance. The remainder of the day is at your disposal to unwind or explore at your leisure. By the afternoon, we will provide you with detailed information about the commencement of your tour. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Tokyo
Today, immerse yourself in the captivating city of Tokyo, where tradition meets modernity in perfect harmony. Our guided tour, lasting approximately five hours, begins with a brief visit to Zojoji Temple, which offers an iconic view of Tokyo Tower. Here, the temple grounds are adorned with hundreds of Jizo statues – stone guardians of children dressed in vibrant attire. Next, experience the bustling energy at Shibuya Crossing, reputed to be the busiest junction in the world, before heading to the peaceful Meiji Shrine, a tribute to Emperor Meiji and his wife.We'll then continue by bus along the elegant Omotesando Avenue and catch a glimpse of the picturesque Imperial Palace and its gardens, stopping at the famed Nijubashi Bridge for a closer view. As we journey on, we'll pass through Akihabara, dubbed "Electric Town," renowned for its manga and anime culture, and see the Kokugikan, Japan’s celebrated sumo arena. Our exploration culminates in Asakusa at the historic Sensoji Temple and lively Nakamise Street. Lunch is included at a local establishment, after which we'll return to our hotel.In the evening, meet our guide in the hotel lobby at 6:30 p.m. We’ll travel by metro (tickets provided) to the vibrant Shinjuku district, celebrated for its energetic nightlife. Here, you’ll enjoy a stroll through its bustling streets en route to a local restaurant for an included dinner. After our evening exploration, we’ll make our way back to the hotel by metro, once again guided by our expert.
Day 3 - Tokyo - Mount Fuji - Kawaguchiko
Today, we travel to the breathtaking Mount Fuji region, renowned for its awe-inspiring scenery. Our journey begins with a visit to Arakurayama Sengen Park. This park is famous for its pagodas and provides some of the most iconic views of Mount Fuji. From there, we continue to Kawaguchiko, a quaint town nestled amidst mountains, vibrant flower fields, and the picturesque Kawaguchi Lake. Upon arrival, we visit the Fuji Sengen Shrine, a tranquil setting beneath towering trees, marking the historical starting point for pilgrimages up Mount Fuji.Our tour includes a delightful boat cruise on Lake Kawaguchiko, a perfect opportunity to absorb the serene beauty of the surroundings. We then ascend Mount Fuji via the scenic road to the Fifth Station, located at 2,305 metres. This spot offers stunning vistas surrounded by lush forests. Please note: in winter, the ascent might be inaccessible due to snow or adverse weather, and we will proceed as conditions allow.We return to Kawaguchiko for a leisurely walk along the lakeside, soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. Tonight, we retreat to a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn, where you can unwind in the onsen, a communal bathhouse. Dinner will be provided. Note that, while some rooms offer traditional tatami mats, others are Western-style, and occasionally, we may stay in a Western-style hotel.
Day 4 - Kawaguchiko - Iyashi No Sato Nenba - Toyota - Kyoto
As we set off from Kawaguchiko this morning, our route takes us along scenic roads flanked by tranquil lakes to Iyashi no Sato Nenba, an enchanting village reborn as an open-air museum after a destructive typhoon in 1966. Here, you'll discover traditional Japanese homes transformed into delightful shops, cosy eateries, and cultural displays, offering a tangible connection to Japan's heritage. Our journey then leads us to Shiraito Falls, where water elegantly cascades over a 20-metre drop, making it one of Japan's most stunning natural sights. After soaking in these serene landscapes, we continue to Nagoya for an exploration of the Toyota Museum — an essential visit for car enthusiasts and anyone intrigued by automotive innovation. Finally, we travel onward to Kyoto, where we will spend the night, ready to explore this historic city further.
Day 5 - Kyoto
Today, we'll delve into the historical heart of Japan as we explore Kyoto, the nation's capital from 794 to 1868 and the seat of the Imperial Court. Uniquely preserved, Kyoto was spared the devastation of World War II bombings, allowing its vibrant artistic heritage to remain intact. Notably, the Kyoto Protocol, the pivotal international treaty on climate change, was signed here in 1997.Our day begins in the charming district of Arashiyama, where we'll pause to take in the sweeping views from the Togetsukyo Bridge, often called the "Bridge over the Moon." This area offers a stunning backdrop of natural beauty. We'll then immerse ourselves in tranquillity at the Tenryuji Temple, recognised as one of Kyoto's five great Zen temples and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A peaceful stroll through its enchanting bamboo grove will follow.The journey continues with a visit to the awe-inspiring Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of red torii gates. We will also take in the grandeur of the Imperial Palace and find serenity at Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion, with its lush surrounding gardens. Please note that the sequence of these visits may change.After soaking up the cultural and historical wonders, you'll have the opportunity to wander through Gion, Kyoto's lively traditional district, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and sightings of geishas. Enjoy your time embracing the unique charm and history that define this extraordinary city.
Day 6 - Kyoto
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, and you are left with cherished memories to reflect upon.
