Itinerary
Day 1 - Windhoek - Swakopmund
Early morning, we collect you from your hotel in Windhoek City at around 8:30 and transfer you to Swakopmund. On arrival, we check in to your hotel so you can settle in and enjoy the fresh coastal air. We then meet with your guide for a discussion about the next six days. Afterwards, you can join an optional city tour – not included – or get to know this charming seaside town on foot at your own pace.Overnight in Swakopmund.
Day 2 - Swakopmund
Swakopmund is yours to explore at your own pace. You could join a catamaran cruise on the Walvis Bay lagoon – oysters and sparkling wine are served on board – take the renowned Living Desert tour, or head out on a quad bike into the dunes. Alternatively, visit the Crystal Gallery to see some of the largest crystals in the world, or join a guided fatbike tour through town or into the dunes. If you travel the short distance to Walvis Bay for a boat cruise, the coastal road between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay offers a striking contrast – soaring Namib Desert dunes on one side and the sea shaped by the cold Benguela Current on the other. Early-morning mists and late-afternoon wind-blown sands add to the atmosphere. All activities today are at your own expense. Dinner this evening is also at your own expense – choose from Swakopmund’s many popular restaurants. Overnight in Swakopmund.
Day 3 - Swakopmund - Kalkfeld
After breakfast, we leave the cool coast and drive inland past the Spitzkoppe area en route to the Erongo Mountains. At Omandumba Farm we spend a few hours with the San community, learning about their way of life – we try simple craftwork such as making jewellery from ostrich eggshell and have a go at using a bow and arrow. We then continue to our lodge, arriving in the afternoon. You can enjoy sundowners – not included – before we sit down to an included dinner in the boma. Overnight in Kalkfeld.
Day 4 - Kalkfeld - Oshikuku
Enjoy a slower start and a leisurely breakfast. Your lodge offers optional activities – you can join a game drive or visit the nearby dinosaur footprints on an easy guided walk of about 1.5 km, taking roughly 30 minutes – which can be done before we depart. We then board the tour vehicle and head north to the renowned Etosha National Park region. On arrival we check in to our comfortable lodge, set in gardens that contrast with the surrounding bush savannah. The afternoon is at your leisure – take a swim in the pool or enjoy sundowners as the sun sinks in the west. We have dinner at the lodge. Overnight in the Etosha West Region.
Day 5 -
After breakfast, we take the short drive into Etosha National Park for a full day of wildlife viewing from the tour vehicle. We break for lunch – either with a packed lunch while on the move or at a camp restaurant at your own expense – and we may also pause at a camp waterhole to watch wildlife from shaded benches. You can enjoy a refreshing swim in a camp pool – this is at your own expense. In the late afternoon we return to our accommodation for sunset and dinner. Overnight in the Etosha West Region.
Day 6 - Waterberg
After an early breakfast, we set out for another 2–3 hour excursion into Etosha National Park, then travel via Outjo and Otjiwarongo to Waterberg Plateau Park. The scenery shifts en route as the plateau comes into view. On arrival, we check in and—time permitting—you can choose optional activities such as guided walking trails, a visit to the Cheetah Conservation Foundation, or a spa massage (all not included). Later, relax at the guest farm before dinner. Overnight in Waterberg.
Day 7 - Windhoek
After breakfast, we depart via Okahandja and Windhoek, travelling straight to Hosea Kutako International Airport outside Windhoek for your onward flight. On arrival, you bid your guide and this beautiful country farewell – we wish you a safe onward journey.
