Itinerary
Day 1 - Kathmandu
On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport our representative greets you and arranges your transfer – we head straight to your hotel in Thamel. Settle in and take your first look at Kathmandu’s lively streets. We then give a concise briefing on the journey ahead – a helpful outline of the cultural and natural highlights to come.
Day 2 - Kathmandu
This morning we meet our trekking guide for a detailed pre–trek briefing covering kit, route and safety so you know exactly what to expect. We then explore Kathmandu on foot – weaving through Thamel’s lanes past small shrines and bustling markets to Durbar Square, where historic palaces and finely carved temples reveal the city’s heritage. You have time to rest after your flight or keep wandering at your own pace. This evening we hold an informal overview of the tour and the local area.
Day 3 - Kathmandu - Syabrubesi
We leave the Kathmandu Valley by road and travel north through rolling hills and farmland to Syabrubesi at the confluence of two rivers – our trailhead for the Langtang trek.
Day 4 - Syabrubesi - Sherpagaon
We begin our trek towards the Langtang Valley, following a path above the Langtang Khola through oak and rhododendron forest where birdlife and langur monkeys are often spotted, continuing to Sherpagaon.
Day 5 - Sherpagaon - Ghora Tabela
We continue up the valley through lush forest, keeping close to the river as we gain height at a steady pace. Near Ghora Tabela the trees thin and our first views of Langtang Lirung appear ahead.
Day 6 - Ghora Tabela - Kyangin Gompa
We climb past the ruins of Langtang village and follow a long mani wall lined with carved prayer stones. With glaciers and lofty peaks closing in, we cross moraine and descend into Kyangin Gompa – noted for its monastery and yak cheese.
Day 7 - Lalitpur
We spend a full day based at Kyangin Gompa, easing the pace. You can rest, take gentle valley walks, visit the monastery or the small cheese factory, or simply enjoy the mountain views and sample the village bakeries – the day is yours.
Day 8 - Lalitpur
We enjoy another unhurried day in Kyangin Gompa. You may head out on shorter walks, call in at the monastery or cheese factory, or relax with panoramic views and fresh bakes from local cafés.
Day 9 - Kyangin Gompa - Lama Hotel
We retrace our route down the Langtang Valley, following the river and seeing familiar villages from a new angle – forested slopes and far reaching mountain views guide us back to Lama Hotel.
Day 10 - Lama Hotel - Thulo Syabru
We continue down the valley before branching onto a new trail beside the Langtang Khola, passing fields and farms, then make a final climb up the valley side to reach the village of Thulo Syabru.
Day 11 - Thulo Syabru - Sing Gompa
We follow a steady, zigzagging trail through the forest, passing scattered lodges as we climb, and the panorama widens – broad views of Ganesh Himal and the Langtang peaks accompany us into the small settlement of Sing Gompa.
Day 12 - Sing Gompa - Gosainkund
We keep to a ridge with sweeping views towards the sacred lakes of Gosainkund. The trail then descends to the main lake and lodge area – an important Hindu pilgrimage site encircled by rugged peaks.
Day 13 - Gosainkund - Gopte
We climb past smaller alpine lakes to cross the high Laurebina Pass – the trek’s highest point – pausing for expansive views of the Annapurnas, Manaslu and the Langtang range before descending towards the forested slopes around Gopte.
Day 14 - Gopte - Mangengoth
We walk through dense rhododendron and mixed forest towards the Thadepati area, enjoying views of Soli Danda. The route follows ridge paths, terraced slopes and oak woods, descending gently to Mangengoth and its small army checkpoint.
Day 15 - Mangengoth - Gul Bhanjyang
We head south into the Helambu region, steadily losing altitude as we pass through villages and terraced farmland. We finish in the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang – a window onto everyday life away from the high passes.
Day 16 - Gul Bhanjyang - Chisapani
We make a short ascent from Gul Bhanjyang, then descend through Pati Bhanjyang. From there we continue along the ridge to Chisapani – a small settlement with fine views – where you can opt to leave the trek if needed.
Day 17 - Chisapani - Sundarijal - Kathmandu
We walk through forest and quiet hillside villages as the Kathmandu basin opens below. The trail descends to Sundarijal on the valley’s edge – the end of our trek. From here we meet our vehicle and drive back into Kathmandu for a short transfer to your hotel, where you can enjoy a well deserved rest.
Day 18 - Kathmandu
After your flight, you can rest or explore the lively lanes of Thamel at your own pace – this evening we gather for an informal briefing on the tour and the local area.
Day 19 - Kathmandu
After your arrival in Kathmandu, you can take time to rest or wander Thamel as you wish. In the evening we host an informal briefing about the tour and the local area. When it is time to leave, we arrange your transfer from your Kathmandu hotel to the airport – say your goodbyes to Nepal as you depart.
