Day 1 - Bucharest
Welcome to Bucharest, the starting point of your tour! Upon arrival, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel, after which you'll have some time to settle in and explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, you can find information about the beginning of your tour displayed on the boards in the hotel reception area. It's important to note that, throughout your journey, the group may change as travellers join or leave at different stages, but rest assured, the group size will not exceed the maximum capacity. Enjoy your first moments in this vibrant city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Bucharest
In the morning, you'll have free time to explore Bucharest, affectionately known as "Little Paris" due to its elegant architecture and grand mansions. At 3:00 p.m., following lunch, we will embark on a panoramic tour of the city. This tour includes a visit to the charming Old Town and the impressive Palace of the Parliament, one of the largest buildings in the world. After the tour, you'll have the chance to enjoy some free time to discover more of the city at your own pace. The day concludes with a delightful dinner.
Day 3 - Bucharest - Sinaia - Bran - Sighisoara
Today, prepare to be captivated by the stunning landscapes as we journey to Transylvania, traversing the Carpathian Mountains and verdant forests. Our first stop is Sinaia, where we’ll wander through the delightful gardens of the Peles and Pelisor Castles. Continuing our tour, we’ll visit the 14th-century Bran Fortress, famously linked to the Dracula legend—your ticket is included. After some time to enjoy lunch, we head on to Sighisoara, an enchanting medieval city adorned with fortifications, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, delight in a special dinner at Count Dracula’s restaurant, nestled in the house where Vlad the Impaler was born.
Day 4 - Sighisoara - Biertan - Sibiu - Hunedoara - Timisoara
On our fourth day, we delve further into the heart of Transylvania. The region is renowned for its numerous fortified churches that bear testament to the German communities that once thrived here, some of which are recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our first stop takes us to one such historical gem in Biertan, where entrance is included. Next, we journey to Sibiu, a city that once held the title of capital of Transylvania and remains an essential cultural and economic hub. Here, you'll have the opportunity to meander through its charming, narrow streets and bustling squares, where you can also pause for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit Hunedoara Castle – often hailed as the most beautiful castle in Romania, with entry included as part of our tour. We conclude our day in Timisoara, offering you time to explore the city's distinguished central squares at your own pace.
Day 5 - Timisoara - Belgrade
Today, we'll journey to Serbia, crossing the border before reaching Belgrade after a three-hour drive. Situated at the meeting point of the Danube and the Sava, this vibrant capital offers a wealth of experiences. We'll embark on a panoramic tour of the city, taking in the bustling city centre and notable landmarks such as the parliament. A stroll through the historic Kalemegdan Fortress is also on the agenda, providing an intriguing glimpse into Belgrade’s storied past. As part of our exploration, we’ll visit the Museum of Yugoslavia, home to Tito's Mausoleum, offering insight into the region's recent history. After our guided activities, you’ll have free time to wander and discover the city at your own pace, taking in the local culture and atmosphere.
Day 6 - Belgrade - Fruska gora - Sremski Karlovci - Novi Sad
Following breakfast, we'll set out for Fruska Gora, a breathtaking national park celebrated for its stunning scenery and historic Orthodox monasteries, some originating from the 12th century. We'll visit the Monasteries of Krusedol and Novo Hopovo, established by the notable Brankovic family. Our journey continues to Sremski Karlovci, one of Serbia’s oldest towns dating back to 1308 when it was called Karom. In this town, you'll appreciate its well-preserved historic centre, showcasing neoclassical architecture. We will also explore the Museum of Beekeeping and Winery Živanović, where lunch and a wine tasting are included. Afterwards, we'll proceed to Novi Sad, Serbia’s second-largest city located along the Danube. Known for its diverse architecture reflecting a rich history, the city is home to the impressive Petrovaradin Fortress. Often referred to as "The Gibraltar of the Danube," this fortress is hailed as one of Europe's largest and a remarkable example of 18th-century military architecture.
Day 7 - Novi Sad - Viminacium - Manasija - Nis
Today, we will venture south through Serbia, with our first stop at the archaeological site of the ancient Roman city of Viminacium, where entry is included. During its heyday, this city hosted 40,000 residents. We’ll take in the historical Roman roads and the remnants of temples, streets, plazas, amphitheatres, palaces, hippodromes, and thermal baths that depict the city's grand past. Our journey continues to the Manasija Monastery, a significant medieval Serbian cultural monument. Encircled by impressive fortifications, the church within the monastery retains its remarkable 15th-century frescoes. From here, we’ll proceed to Nis, Serbia's third-largest city, noted for its rich Roman legacy. This city is also the birthplace of Constantine the Great. We’ll be spending the night here.
Day 8 - Nis - Zica - Studenica - Kraljevo
Our day begins with a visit to the Zica Orthodox Monastery, established in the early 13th century and notable for being the Coronation Church, where seven Serbian kings were crowned. We then proceed to the largest monastery in Serbia, Studenica, nestled in the picturesque mountains. Founded in 1190, Studenica Monastery is renowned for its stunning architecture, featuring a fascinating ensemble of wood and plaster buildings, with interior walls decorated in exquisite Byzantine frescoes. Our tour here includes lunch, giving you time to relish the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, we'll head to Kraljevo, a charming town in the heart of Serbia, encircled by mountains and steeped in history and culture. Known for its beautiful main square and medieval fortress, Kraljevo offers a peek into Serbia’s rich past.
Day 9 - Kraljevo - Ravanica - Oplenac - Belgrade
Today, we set out for Ravanica, where you'll find an intriguing monastery accompanied by an impressive five-domed church. Our journey then takes us to the village of Topola to delve into its captivating history. On Oplenac Hill, you will visit St. George's Church, a significant site founded by King Peter I of Yugoslavia. This church is notable not only for its architectural beauty but also for being the final resting place of the Serbian and Yugoslav royal families. We aim to return to Belgrade by evening, allowing you some leisure time to unwind or explore further.
Day 10 - Belgrade
