On the second day in Seville, we will set off on an engaging city tour, taking in sights that boast the rich cultural tapestry of the region. You'll have the opportunity to admire the stunning Seville Cathedral with its renowned Giralda tower. As we continue, we'll pass along the picturesque banks of the Guadalquivir River and explore the vibrant neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana, each steeped in unique history and character. Following the city tour, we'll embark on a tranquil boat ride along the Guadalquivir River, providing breathtaking panoramic views–a perfect opportunity to relax and take in the scenic beauty. As the evening unfolds, you might choose to immerse yourself in the electrifying atmosphere of a flamenco tablao, revelling in this quintessential Spanish art form.
Day 3 - Seville - Carmona - Cordoba
On the third day of our tour, after a hearty breakfast, we set off towards Carmona, a city steeped in over 3,000 years of history, celebrated for its Mudejar and Renaissance architecture in the old town. Enjoy a relaxed walk through this timeless city before we continue our journey to the formidable Almodóvar del Río, where we visit the stunning Moorish castle perched above the town—tickets and a cab ride to the site are included. Here, you can marvel at breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. We then proceed to Córdoba, once the illustrious capital of the Caliphate during the Islamic era. You’ll have some leisure time to wander around, explore the city, and relish lunch at your own pace. Later, our local guide will take us on an insightful tour of Córdoba's most iconic landmark, the mesmerising Mosque–Cathedral, which stands as a remarkable testament to both Islamic and Christian art—entry is included. As we explore, we'll also stroll through the charming Jewish Quarter, famed for its narrow lanes and vibrant, flower-filled patios that capture the essence of the city. For visits during the summer months (21 June to 20 September), we have the privilege of a nighttime tour of Medina Azahara, an awe-inspiring palace-city from the Umayyad Caliphate (again, with tickets included). Outside of this period, or if night visits aren't feasible, we'll enhance our experience with a visit to one of Córdoba's most picturesque courtyards, also included in your journey.
Day 4 - Cordoba - Baena - Granada
Following breakfast, we journey through an expanse of olive groves to reach Baena, a town with Roman heritage known for producing top-quality olive oil. During our visit to the Núñez de Prado Olive Oil Mill, one of the Mediterranean's oldest, housed within an 18th-century building, we will delve into the process of olive oil production and partake in a tasting of pan con aceite (bread with olive oil). Afterwards, our trip continues to Granada, celebrated for the Alhambra. This iconic example of Islamic architecture is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and we will explore it with a guided tour, with admission included. We'll enjoy lunch together, after which you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. You might choose to visit the cathedral or take a walk through the Albaicín neighbourhood, which offers striking views of the Alhambra.
Day 5 - Granada - Nerja - Frigiliana - Malaga
Today, we embark on a scenic journey across the Sierra Nevada mountain range, offering breathtaking views. Our route then takes us along the Mediterranean coast, through the region known as the Costa Tropical. Thanks to its mild microclimate, this area is ideal for growing tropical fruits like guavas, mangoes, and avocados—as well as sugar cane in the past. We’ll stop in Nerja, a picturesque coastal village famed for its striking cliffs, before continuing to Frigiliana. This village, often hailed as one of the most beautiful in Andalusia, charms visitors with its narrow, steep streets and whitewashed houses. Our travels will then take us to Malaga, the vibrant capital of the Costa del Sol. Renowned as the birthplace of Picasso and home to numerous museums, Malaga also boasts the iconic, yet unfinished cathedral, La Manquita, known as “The One-Armed Lady.” You'll have the opportunity to savour a leisurely lunch and explore the lively city centre. Alternatively, if the weather cooperates, you may choose to indulge in a refreshing swim at the beach.
Day 6 - Malaga
After breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of your adventure. You are free to enjoy your remaining time in Malaga, whether exploring its vibrant city centre, discovering local cuisine, or perhaps visiting one of its esteemed museums before your onward travel.
