Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, where you'll have some free time to settle in before the tour kicks off. For details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers, please refer to the information signs in the hotel reception area. In the evening, we will whisk you away to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, renowned for their vibrant nightlife and tapas restaurants. Here, you have the freedom to select a restaurant that suits your taste—whether it be Indian, Chinese, Spanish, or Middle Eastern cuisine is entirely up to you. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
We start the day with a comprehensive tour of central Madrid, exploring its iconic landmarks such as Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza de Colón, and Plaza Mayor. Our journey through the heart of the city reveals the grandeur and historical significance of these sites. Next, we visit Retiro Park, a serene haven in the midst of the bustling city, where we'll admire the tranquil lake and the stunning Palacio de Cristal. The experience continues with a visit to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium—home to Real Madrid and a must-see for any football enthusiast. This tour is included in your itinerary. The afternoon is yours to explore Madrid further at your own pace. In the evening, we will provide a transfer back to the hotel, allowing you time to relax and reflect on the day's explorations.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
This morning, we'll set off from Madrid towards the region of Aragon, travelling through the scenic Castile landscape. Our first stop will be Zaragoza, where you'll have the opportunity to marvel at the magnificent Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar—a major landmark known for its impressive baroque architecture. We then continue to the serene Poblet Abbey, one of the world's most well-preserved medieval monasteries. Your entry is included, allowing you to explore its fascinating history and tranquil surroundings. Our journey concludes in vibrant Barcelona, where we'll arrive in the evening, leaving you time to relax and enjoy the city at your leisure.
Day 4 - Barcelona - Girona
On the fourth day, our exploration of Barcelona begins, offering a delightful glimpse into the City of Counts. This vibrant metropolis, gracefully situated along the Mediterranean, is acclaimed for its modernist architecture by Antoni Gaudí, the lively atmosphere of Las Ramblas, and its rich cultural history, highlighted by landmark events such as the Universal Exposition and the Olympic Games held here. Recognised as one of Europe's most captivating capitals, Barcelona promises an enriching experience. As evening approaches, we'll depart Barcelona and journey north into the diverse region of Catalonia. Before settling into our accommodation for the night, we'll enjoy an evening stroll through Girona—its historic centre is renowned for colourful buildings, the old Jewish quarter, and its majestic cathedral.
Day 5 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
On day five, we embark on an enchanting journey from Girona into France, traversing the scenic Provence region. Our first destination is Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its rich Roman history and its connection to Vincent Van Gogh. You will have the opportunity to explore the Roman theatre and delightful Romanesque churches, coupled with time to delight in a leisurely lunch amidst the charm of this historic locale.Our adventure continues with a stop at Carrières des Lumières, where you'll experience an awe-inspiring underground art show set within an ancient quarry. Here, a mesmerising blend of art, images, and sound creates an unforgettable spectacle. As the day winds down, we arrive in Chambéry, the captivating capital of Savoy. This medieval city will enchant you with its historic centre, replete with beautiful architecture and an imposing castle. Please note, in the event Carrières des Lumières is fully booked, an alternative visit to the famous Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard, will be arranged.
Day 6 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
Today marks our journey into Switzerland as we make our way to Geneva. We'll visit the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations, and enjoy a stroll through the picturesque English Garden with its renowned flower clock. Our exploration continues with witnessing the impressive Jet d?Eau, Europe's tallest fountain.Our next destination is the quaint medieval village of Gruy?res, celebrated worldwide for its cheese. Nearby, you can find some of Switzerland's major chocolate producers, including the famous Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where we'll treat ourselves to a delightful tasting session. We'll then travel along scenic roads, taking in breathtaking mountain vistas and charming wooden villages, until we reach Chillon Castle on the banks of Lake Geneva. Admission is included for this stunning lakeside ch?teau. Later, we'll arrive in the delightful resort of Leysin, offering majestic views of the Rh?ne Valley and Mont Blanc. Renowned for its winter sports and hiking opportunities, Leysin promises a refreshing retreat. Dinner is included this evening. Note that, depending on availability, accommodation may sometimes be in another charming Swiss town nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny.
Day 7 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today, prepare for breathtaking alpine views as we venture into the heart of Switzerland's majestic mountains. We'll begin with a cable car journey to Glacier 3000, a strikingly beautiful spot known for its eternal ice and snow. Once at the top, you can choose to stroll across the thrilling suspension bridge connecting two peaks, marvel at the Ice Cathedral, or unwind at the Fun Park. After our icy adventure, we'll pause in Interlaken for lunch, with its stunning backdrop of towering peaks. Our travels then take us to Lucerne, hailed as one of Switzerland's lovely cities with its charming waterfront. In the evening, we arrive in Zurich, where you can explore the city centre before settling into your hotel. Please be aware that if adverse weather impacts our plans for Glacier 3000, an equally stunning alternative will be arranged to ensure you still experience Switzerland’s alpine beauty.
Day 8 - Zurich - Basel - Colmar - Riquewihr - Strasbourg
On Day 8, our adventure takes us from Zurich to Basel, an essential city positioned at the confluence of Germany and France along the banks of the Rhine. Here, you have the opportunity to explore the old town, notable for its Town Hall Square and the imposing Cathedral that provides a stunning vantage point over the Rhine River. Our journey continues into the Alsace region of France—an area rich with history and cultural nuance, often having shifted between French and German governance. In Alsace, a German dialect known as Alsatian is still spoken, and the region's architecture and traditions reflect strong Germanic influences. We'll visit Colmar, a city famed for its distinctive architecture, featuring colourful half-timbered houses and delightful canals. Colmar is equally celebrated for its exquisite white wine and fine cuisine, offering you the perfect setting to enjoy lunch and a leisurely walk. In the afternoon, we'll head to Riquewihr, one of Alsace's most picturesque medieval towns, where cobblestone streets and vibrant houses conjure a fairy-tale atmosphere—they even inspired scenes in Beauty and the Beast. We will conclude the evening in Strasbourg, where we suggest a stroll through the Cathedral and Petite France areas, rich with charming views and inviting restaurants.
Day 9 - Strasbourg - Epernay - Paris
Today we begin our exploration in Strasbourg, the vibrant capital of Alsace and the seat of the European Parliament. The city's historic centre is a captivating blend of medieval charm and architectural beauty, featuring picturesque streets, a breathtaking Gothic cathedral, and an enchanting network of canals adorned with flowers. A highlight of our visit here is a delightful boat trip through the canals of Petite France, offering a unique perspective of this lovely area.Our journey then takes us to the Champagne region, where we include a visit to a traditional Champagne cellar. Here, you'll uncover the secrets behind the production of the world's most celebrated sparkling wine during an informative guided tour, followed by an opportunity to savour its distinct flavours in a tasting session. We will also make a short stop in Épernay, known as the capital of Champagne. You can wander through this charming town, famous for its historic champagne houses, and soak in the elegant atmosphere.We conclude our day by travelling onwards to the City of Light, Paris, where we arrive in the evening.
Day 10 - Paris
As your journey culminates in the magnificent city of Paris, we will enjoy a final breakfast together, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences and memories we've created.
