Day 1 - Barcelona
Welcome to the beginning of your adventure in Barcelona! Upon arrival, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel, allowing you to settle in and unwind. You'll have some leisure time to explore or relax as you wish. Later in the afternoon, keep an eye out for important details regarding the start of your tour, which will be displayed on the information boards at the hotel reception. Enjoy the day discovering this vibrant city's unique blend of style, culture, and history. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Barcelona - Girona
We begin our day in the beautiful city of Barcelona, often referred to as the City of Counts. Nestled on the shores of the Mediterranean, Barcelona is celebrated for its awe-inspiring modernist architecture by Gaudí, the lively atmosphere of Las Ramblas, and a rich history marked by events such as the Universal Exposition and the Olympic Games. Our morning is spent exploring this vibrant city, widely regarded as one of Europe's most captivating capitals. As evening approaches, we leave the bustling streets of Barcelona and head northwards into the picturesque region of Catalonia. Our destination is Girona, a city that harmoniously blends history with charm. Before checking into our hotel, we take a leisurely walk through Girona's historic centre, admiring the colourful houses that line the Onyar River, wandering through the ancient Jewish quarter, and visiting the impressive cathedral that dominates the skyline.
Day 3 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
Today, we leave Girona and make our way to France, traversing the scenic Provence region. Our first destination is Arles, a charming city steeped in history and renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, we visit the Roman theatre and quaint Romanesque churches, offering a glimpse into the city's rich past. You'll have some leisure time to explore the area and perhaps enjoy a local lunch. Later, we include a visit to the Carrières des Lumières, a remarkable underground art space that captivates with its mesmerising display of art, light, and sound within an ancient quarry. As evening approaches, we arrive in Chambéry, the picturesque capital of Savoy, famed for its medieval charm, historic centre, and impressive castle. Note: If tickets for Carrières des Lumières are unavailable due to high demand, an alternative visit to the famed Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard, will be arranged.
Day 4 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
We set off for Switzerland today, with Geneva as our first destination. In this cosmopolitan city, we'll visit the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. We'll explore the English Garden, famous for its stunning flower clock, and admire the Jet d'Eau, the striking fountain that holds the title of the tallest in Europe. Our journey then takes us to Gruyères, an enchanting village distinguished by its fortified walls and celebrated worldwide for its cheese production. You’ll also enjoy a delightful visit to the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where a guided tour will indulge your taste buds with a sweet experience. Continuing through the picturesque roads of Switzerland, we’ll take in the charming wooden villages and serene mountain vistas. A notable stop is Chillon Castle by Lake Geneva, with admission to explore this medieval architectural jewel included in the tour. By mid-afternoon, we arrive in Leysin, a quaint alpine village known for its spectacular views of the Rhône Valley and Mont Blanc. A delightful dinner is included, offering a taste of local cuisine. Please note that accommodation for the night may sometimes be in another delightful Swiss town nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny, subject to availability.
Day 5 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today promises breathtaking mountain views, so remember to dress warmly. We begin the day with a cable car ride to Glacier 3000, a spectacular destination in Switzerland where you can experience ice and snow year-round. Here, you can walk on the impressive suspended bridge connecting two peaks, explore the intricate Ice Cathedral, or enjoy some fun at the park. After exploring, we'll pause for lunch in Interlaken before journeying to Lucerne, renowned as one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities. We'll conclude our day's travel with an evening arrival in Zurich, where you'll have some time to wander the city centre before retiring to the hotel. In the event of severe weather or unforeseen closures, we have an equally stunning alternative planned to ensure you still enjoy the alpine wonder.
Day 6 - Zurich - Strasbourg - Paris
Today, we set off from Zurich to explore the enchanting Alsace region of France, visiting Strasbourg, its captivating capital. Known for its unique blend of French and German influences, Strasbourg offers an intriguing cultural experience. You'll have free time to wander through its charming streets, perhaps visiting the famous Gothic cathedral or enjoying a leisurely stroll along the canals. In the afternoon, we'll continue our journey and arrive in Paris by evening, ready to discover the wonders of this iconic city.
Day 7 - Paris
We will delve into French history by visiting the splendid Palace of Versailles, famed for its exquisite gardens and opulent architecture; however, entry is not included, so you may choose to explore at your leisure. Upon our return to Paris, Montmartre awaits; this quaint bohemian district is celebrated for its artistic heritage, with artists and painters adding to its charm. To truly appreciate the splendour of Paris, we will embark on a guided panoramic tour, revealing the city's grand avenues and renowned landmarks. We will then proceed back to the hotel. In the evening, an exciting optional variety show is available for those interested.
Day 8 - Paris - Rouen
Begin your day in the heart of Paris with an invigorating visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where you can ascend to the second floor and enjoy breathtaking views of the city (tickets are included). We then offer you a tranquil river cruise along the Seine, providing a relaxing perspective of the city's beauty. After a morning of exploration, enjoy an afternoon of discovery at your own pace. Later, at approximately 4:00 p.m., we leave Paris, venturing into the picturesque region of Normandy, and arrive in the charming city of Rouen. You'll have some free time to wander through Rouen's historic centre, renowned for its stunning medieval architecture and impressive Gothic cathedral, echoing the city's rich lineage dating back to Roman times. Explore at your leisure and immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural tapestry of this remarkable city. Please note that if the queues at the Eiffel Tower are excessively long, we may adjust your visit to another convenient time, ensuring a seamless experience.
Day 9 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today begins with a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Rouen, allowing you to soak in the city's rich history and Gothic architecture. We then venture north through the scenic landscapes of France before embarking on a ferry that will carry us across the iconic English Channel. Upon arrival in Canterbury, you'll have the opportunity to explore its historic centre, renowned as the religious heart of England with its medieval streets and stunning cathedral. Our journey concludes in London, where you'll have some free time to bask in the vibrant atmosphere around Tower Bridge, one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. After your explorations, we will proceed to the hotel for a relaxing evening.
Day 10 - London
Today, we delve into the vibrant heart of London with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert. You'll have the opportunity to explore the city's rich tapestry of culture and history, seeing iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the majestic River Thames, and, if the timing aligns, the splendid Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. In the evening, we'll reconvene in the bustling hub of Piccadilly, perfect for a leisurely stroll through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These lively areas are renowned for their dynamic atmosphere, theatres, and diverse entertainment options. With myriad dining choices available for dinner, you'll be spoilt for choice before we return to our hotel to round off the day.
Day 11 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
In the morning, we'll explore the British Museum, a treasure trove of history and culture from across the globe. You'll have time to wander its vast halls before we head to Camden for lunch. Known for its lively and eclectic market, Camden offers a chance to discover unique products from around the world and enjoy a meal at one of its many diverse restaurants or food stalls.In the late afternoon, we'll make our way to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England. Here, we'll take a leisurely walk through its historic streets, absorbing the rich past of this charming town. Our journey continues to Harwich, where we will board a ferry for an overnight trip to the Netherlands, staying in cabins with en suite facilities.Please note that due to limited cabin availability, the itinerary might change. We may opt for a daytime ferry to Amsterdam with an overnight stop in Antwerp, or alternatively, utilise a train or flight option to reach our next destination.
Day 12 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We make an early morning arrival in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland, where our first stop is the enchanting fishing village of Volendam. Known for its quaint streets and traditional Dutch charm, Volendam offers us a delightful glimpse into the country’s heritage. Our journey then continues to Amsterdam, where a guided tour awaits. We'll explore the city's vibrant mix of historical and modern highlights, including the symbolic windmill and the Rembrandt statue, as well as the sleek architecture of the South District. At Museum Square, we’ll delve into the fascinating art of diamond cutting, a craft deeply intertwined with Amsterdam's history. Day 14 - Berlin
Today, we'll delve into the captivating cultural tapestry of Berlin, Germany's vibrant capital. With a local guide, we'll embark on a comprehensive tour from the comfort of our coach, providing a panoramic view of some of the city's most iconic landmarks. Experience the grandeur of Museum Island and the soaring Television Tower, and take in the bustling energy of Berlin's central shopping streets. Day 15 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
We depart from Berlin, travelling through lush forests to reach Dresden, celebrated for its rich architectural and artistic heritage. Often hailed as one of Germany's premier tourist destinations, you’ll have the opportunity to wander among its impressive palaces and enjoy lunch in one of its diverse restaurants and cafés. Following our time in Dresden, we'll journey onwards to the Czech Republic, arriving in Prague. Here, we will take you to the bustling Old Town Square – a perfect spot to feel the vibrant pulse of the city and experience a warm Czech welcome. During your free time, you might choose to dine at any of the numerous eateries offering an array of international cuisines, including Czech, Chinese, Indian, and Italian. After an exciting evening, we'll return to our hotel.
Day 16 - Prague
On our sixteenth day, we'll explore Prague, a stunning Baroque jewel renowned for its breathtaking architecture and historical significance. Our day begins with a panoramic tour led by an insightful local guide, who will introduce us to some of the city's most iconic monuments. A highlight of the morning will be our visit to Prague Castle, where admission is included, providing a fascinating glimpse into the past with its impressive collection of buildings and rich history. Following this, we'll unwind with a relaxing boat ride on the Vltava River, taking in Prague’s charming scenery from a different vantage point. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, allowing you time to wander through the city’s enchanting streets, discover hidden gems, or perhaps indulge in traditional Czech cuisine at a local café.
Day 17 - Prague
