Itinerary
Day 1 - Tunis
Upon arrival at Tunis–Carthage International Airport, our team and your driver will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation. You can spend the remainder of the day unwinding at the hotel or venture out to explore the local area at your leisure. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner served at the hotel. Overnight stay in Tunis.
Day 2 - Tunis - Utique - Bizerte
After breakfast, we will collect you at around 8 am and begin with a visit to the Bardo National Museum in central Tunis. Housed in a former Beylical palace, the museum is renowned for its extensive collection of mosaics and offers insight into Tunisia’s rich history. Following the museum, we will drive north towards the ancient site of Utique, a Phoenician and Carthaginian settlement near where the Medjerda River meets the Mediterranean. You will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before spending the afternoon exploring Utique with your guide. We will then continue to Bizerte, arriving at your hotel around 6 pm, where you can relax and enjoy dinner.
Day 3 - Bizerte - Sejnene - Tabarka - Jendouba
After breakfast, we will collect you at around 8 am and set off from Bizerte, travelling through expansive green fields, mountains, reservoirs and occasional views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our first stop is Sejnene, a village celebrated for its distinctive pottery crafted by local women artisans. Their work reflects Berber traditions through intricate designs and vibrant colours. Next, we continue to Tabarka, a town rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage influenced by Berber, Punic, Hellenistic, Roman, Islamic, Genoese and Turkish histories. Dominated by an offshore rock offering panoramic views, Tabarka invites exploration of its fort, needle-shaped rock formations cascading into the sea, old port and coral shops. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before spending the afternoon discovering these highlights. Arrival at the hotel is expected around 6 pm for check-in and overnight stay.
Day 4 - Tabarka - Ain Drahem - Tunis
After breakfast, we will collect you at around 8 am to begin a day focused on Tunisia’s rich archaeological heritage. Our first stop is Ain Drahem, named after its Roman sulphurous hot springs, where you can also see the remains of ancient Roman baths. Next, we explore Bulla Regia, a remarkable site featuring well-preserved Roman underground homes designed to offer relief from the heat. We then visit Dougga, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, celebrated as the best-preserved Roman small town in North Africa. Highlights here include the Libyco-Punic Mausoleum, the capitol, the theatre, and the temples of Saturn and Juno Caelestis. After lunch in Dougga, we continue to Uthina, known for its partially excavated theatre that once seated 16,000 spectators. We return to Tunis in the early evening for hotel check-in at around 6 pm.
Day 5 - Carthage - Tunis
We begin the day at around 8am with a visit to the essential ruins of Carthage, once the capital of the Carthaginian civilisation and a major trading centre in the ancient Mediterranean. After exploring the site, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. Please note that depending on your flight times, the first and last day’s schedule may be adjusted, with lunch included on either day.
