Itinerary
Day 1 - Santa Marta
On arrival at Simón Bolívar International Airport, we meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Santa Marta. After check in and a short rest, we set out on a half day introduction to this lively coastal city. We begin at the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino – the estate where Simón Bolívar spent his final days – to explore its collections and tranquil botanical gardens. We continue to the Cathedral Basilica Menor, regarded as Colombia’s oldest church and the resting place of the city’s founder, Rodrigo de Bastidas. Next, we visit the Gold Museum in the Casa de la Aduana – a beautifully restored colonial building showcasing archaeological treasures and the region’s cultural legacy from the Tayrona civilisation to modern Santa Marta. We round off with a panoramic drive along the main avenues, pausing for photos at the Pibe Valderrama monument and the Taganga viewpoint, which offers sweeping views of the bay. During the tour, we also pause at the Gabriel García Márquez monument, where your guide shares brief excerpts from his work and we mark the visit with a symbolic yellow butterfly pin. Overnight in Santa Marta.
Day 2 - Santa Marta
After breakfast, we set off from your hotel for a 45–minute drive along the Caribbean Highway to Tayrona National Park. On arrival, we pause so you can purchase your park entrance tickets, then continue to the Cañaveral car park to begin the walk. We follow forest–coast trails for around one hour to Arrecifes, then continue for about 40 minutes past Arenillas and La Piscina towards Cabo San Juan del Guía – known for its clear waters and striking rock formations. On arrival, you have free time to swim, relax and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we retrace our route on a hike of roughly 1 hour 40 minutes back to the car park, where our vehicle will be waiting for the return to Santa Marta. Overnight in Santa Marta.
Day 3 - Santa Marta
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. At the scheduled time, we arrange a private transfer from your hotel to Simón Bolívar International Airport for your departure flight. Take with you lasting memories of Santa Marta’s beaches, lush natural surroundings and the warmth of its people.
