Tuesday. Marhaba, welcome to Egypt and the start of your holiday! Arrive Cairo, included transfer to hotel and check in. Afternoon and evening at leisure.
Overnight: Cairo

Day 2

Pyramids of Giza

Cairo - Luxor. A big day out at the pyramids and sphinx at Giza. Perhaps opt to hire a camel! Later we travel to Saqqara, to explore the myriad of tombs and temples at the site and see Zhoser's step pyramid - constructed by Imhotep, the pharaoh's chief architect in 2700 BC. Later there is time for dinner before travelling on the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.
Overnight: Sleeper Train  |  Breakfast

Day 3

Ancient Thebes

We arrive into Luxor and check into our hotel. Home of the legendary Valley of the Kings and Temple of Karnak, 4000 year-old Luxor is ancient Egypt at its best. This afternoon you can explore Luxor on foot following the waterside corniche, relax by the pool or maybe stop for drink at one of the many Nile side cafes and tea houses. Tonight, there is an optional visit to view the Temple of Luxor at night. Book and pay locally. Remainder of the evening at leisure.
Overnight: Luxor  |  Breakfast

Day 4

Valley of the Kings

You can opt to float over Luxor in a hot air balloon first thing this morning before we visit Luxor’s famous West Bank. The twin seated statues known as the Colossi of Memnon are the first site we'll see before we visit the legendary Valleys of the Kings and the imposing limestone, colonnaded Temple of Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut was one of only 3 Egyptian ruling queens. The most famous tomb in the Valley of the Kings is that of the boy-King Tutankhamen. Archaeologist Howard Carter discovered his intact and treasure -filled tomb in 1922. After exploring the West Bank we take a break before visiting the colossal Temple of Karnak.

The rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight: Luxor  |  Breakfast

The next 3 days are free to explore Hurghada or simply relax. On day 6 there's an optional day trip to Giftun Island for swimming and snorkelling, which can be booked locally.

Hurghada is one of the most popular Red Sea resorts. Hotels and expanded infrastructure provide holidaymakers with excellent aquatic facilities for sail boarding, yachting, deep-sea fishing, SCUBA diving and snorkeling and Hurghada’s central location provides a gateway to prime offshore reefs, which are some of the finest in the world. Hurghada also has plenty of restaurants and late night bars for evening entertainment. Just outside town is an ancient Roman quarry called Mons Porphyritis and Port Safarga – a famously windy place which is ideal for windsurfing.

I chose this tour for 2 reasons - the mix of culture/touring followed by relaxation of the itinerary and the focus on solo travellers with no single supplement. This was my first solo tour and first with On the Go and i was very impressed. Being met before security at the airport was extremely welcome as a single female traveller. Both guides were excellent - knowledgeable, entusiastic and organised, although I felt Momo was more relaxed and sometimes didn't porivide clear and detailed info. Waleed tweaked our itinerary so that we didn't visit the Temple of Karnak in the afternoon heat, which was massively appreciated by the whole group. I would suggest this as a permanent change during the hot months. The quality of hotels was good, apart from the Oasis hotel in Cairo, which was well below the standard of the others. Egyptian customer service isn't on a par with the West and we had issues charging to our rooms as we had not provided card details at check in. It would be good if guides could inform guests what the hotel needs to enable setting up this facility at the start of a stay.

I would certainly recommend this tour to others.

The tour was fantastic. Very well organised and all worked well. Helal was brilliant highly informative and full of knowledge, without it being like a lecture.

One suggestion for an improvement would be an extra day in Luxor, and one day less in Hurghada. Luxor was beautiful, with so much to see. So this part of the tour felt slightly rushed

This tour was already amazing but with the addition of Waleed, the tour became extraordinary! He was so knowledgeable about the history and culture and you could just tell he was in his element when he talked about his country. His talks got us excited about the sites and made us want to learn more. Waleed was also very nice and accommodating. It was almost like meeting an uncle I didn't know I had. He was also very helpful and concerned when my friend thought she left her bag at a prior hotel. He also has an amazing work ethic. His son was hospitalized and yet he stayed with us to make sure we were taken care of. Such a great guy and made us fall in love with Egypt. Thanks again Waleed!

I would like to take a moment to recognize a Man who I now call my Egyptian Uncle!"Uncle Waleed". During my time in Egypt he was absolutely amazing to me and the rest of the tour group. He looked out for us and made certain that we were always comfortable and always going the extra mile to ensure that we were getting the most out of our experience. He was so knowledgeable about his Country and you can tell when he was dropping his knowledge, that he was in his element. The love that he has for his Country and educating others about it, was heart warming. Egypt was everything I thought it would be and some...an experience that I will never forget all thanks in part to our tour guide. Every time I replay that time in my mind he will always be attached to it! He is the best best best!!!!!!!

I have recently returned from my holiday in Egypt with On the go Tours. I feel compelled to let your company know that l loved every minute of my time in Egypt and felt so safe the entire time. I intended on just visiting the ancient sites however I have come away with so much more, I loved the culture and talking with the people who live there. Our tour guide Mido Alam was so informative and made the experience so much richer for sharing his knowledge and his culture. I would recommend to everyone to visit Egypt with On The Go Tours and hope to return soon. Egypt is safe!!!

Mahmoud has been the best tour guide I have ever had. He knows so much about the history.

Egypt has been the absolute highlight of my two and a half years travelling. This was due to the competence and skill of my guide, Mahmoud Ramadan. Mahmoud's knowledge and passion for both Egypt and his line of work shines through in everything he does. He is excellent at explaining everything and is always willing to answer any questions you may have. He was more than happy to talk to me about the wider aspects of living in Egypt, covering my topics of interest such politics and religion. Mahmoud allowed me to learn about and immerse myself in the whole Egyptian culture whilst on my trip. He went above and beyond his duties as a guide and I now have the pleasure of calling him a friend.

I have already recommended Mahmoud to many people and I will request him when I return to Egypt again. He is an asset to the On The Go team.

I would also please like to mention our Cairo representative Boules Merzek. Boules again went out his way to make our trip special and memorable. He also introduced us to the best Shawerma I have ever had!

Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable trip.

Dear Kasia,

Thank you for your email. I must tell you my trip to Egypt is the best holiday I have ever taken. I love your country and the people are the kindest and friendliest people you could ever meet. Your representatives at ON the Go are the most professional and helpful I have come across. To be met at the airport at 2 in the morning 2 days before our tour even began was beyond kind and helpful. Your tour guides we professional and so knowledgeable and the most wonderful people. My daughter had a birthday while we were on tour and "H" even organised a beautiful birthday cake for her and the waiters at the restaurant sang her happy birthday. I can not thank you enough for such a memorable experience and I am definitely returning to Egypt as soon as I possibly can. I told every one I came across in Spain and when I arrived home to visit Egypt it was an unforgettable experience.

Thank you every one associated with ON the Go.
