Day 1 - Dublin
Welcome to Dublin. We arrange your transfer to the hotel – you have time to settle in. In the afternoon you receive details of the programme, either directly from our team or via the noticeboard at reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dublin
We set off on a panoramic tour of Dublin, Ireland’s peaceful capital. We follow the River Liffey, pause in its parks, admire the historic university and the lively city centre, and view the exterior of Trinity College. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your leisure. Depending on our arrival time and daylight, this tour may run the previous afternoon.
Day 3 - Dublin - Powerscourt - Kilkenny - Cashel - Cork
We leave Dublin for Powerscourt to visit its magnificent gardens from the 18th century – admission included – with fountains, a Japanese garden and a small pet cemetery. We continue to Kilkenny, where you have time for lunch and a stroll. Further south we stop to visit the impressive Rock of Cashel – admission included – a medieval fortress symbolising Ireland’s struggle against England. We arrive in Cork in the evening, with time for you to take a walk in the city centre. Dinner is included.
Day 4 - Cork - Kinsale - Killarney - Limerick
We set off for Kinsale, pausing at Charles Fort to admire sweeping ocean views beside this fortress from the 17th century. You have time to explore Kinsale’s historic centre. We then travel to Killarney, where you have time for lunch and a wander. We enjoy a romantic jaunting car tour through the national park to Ross Castle, followed by a short cruise to soak up the lake scenery. We make a brief stop in Adare, which preserves stone cottages with thatched roofs and the ruins of an old abbey. By mid afternoon we arrive in Limerick – you have time to discover the city centre, visit the castle, walk by the river, see the cathedral or browse the shopping centre. Dinner is included.
Day 5 - Limerick - Cliffs of Moher - Galway
Today we visit Bunratty Folk Park – tickets included – to learn about life in Ireland in the past among traditional cottages and old market scenes, and explore the castle that evokes medieval life. We continue to Caherconnell, where the Poulnabrone Dolmen is located, and we may be lucky enough to see dogs herding sheep. Afterwards we visit the dramatic Cliffs of Moher overlooking the ocean – admission included – with the option to walk to O’Brien’s Tower. Our route continues through Burren National Park, revealing striking landscapes, before we arrive in Galway.
Day 6 - Galway - Clonmacnoise - Dublin
We travel to Cong, a picturesque village in a beautiful lake district. We visit the ruins of the Royal Abbey and stroll around Ashford Castle, a striking medieval castle now operating as a hotel. We continue to Clonmacnoise to explore the Celtic monastic ruins – tickets with guided tour included – noting that renovation works may shorten the visit. Afterwards we pause in Athlone for lunch and a stroll before returning to Dublin in the evening.
Day 7 - Dublin
After breakfast our journey concludes – we hope you depart with wonderful memories.
