Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Cagliari – Welcome to Sardinia’s Southern Gem
Welcome to Sardinia. On arrival in Cagliari, our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in the city centre. After check-in, the rest of the day is at leisure to settle in and start soaking up the atmosphere of Sardinia’s capital. Overnight in Cagliari.
Day 2 - Discover Cagliari – Historic Quarters & Coastal Charm
After breakfast, meet our local guide in the hotel lobby for a three-hour walking tour of Cagliari’s historic centre. The old town is traditionally divided into three distinctive quarters - Castello, Stampace and Marina - each with its own character and history. During the tour, you visit key landmarks including the Bastion of Saint Remy, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Elephant Tower and Via Roma.
The afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace. You may wish to enjoy a walk along the coast towards Poetto Beach, one of Europe’s most celebrated urban beaches, or choose to visit the Roman Amphitheatre and the National Archaeological Museum for a deeper insight into Sardinia’s long and layered past from Punic times onwards. Overnight in Cagliari.
Day 3 - From Ancient Shores to Colourful Bosa – A Journey to Alghero
After breakfast, you travel towards Alghero, stopping at two of western Sardinia’s most distinctive locations along the way.
Our first stop is the Sinis Peninsula. On arrival in San Giovanni, you board the tourist train for a scenic 30-minute ride through this striking coastal landscape, with views towards the ancient site of Tharros and Capo San Marco. Should you wish to stop and visit the archaeological site of Tharros, please let us know at the time of booking. Entrance fee is not included.
You then continue to Bosa, where you enjoy a traditional Sardinian gastronomic experience in a local restaurant. After lunch, you explore this colourful riverside town on the Temo River, the only navigable river in Sardinia. The historic quarter, known as Sa Costa, rises up towards the Castle of Serravalle, built between the 12th and 13th centuries by the Malaspina family. Bosa is known for its olive oil, Malvasia wine, historic tuna fisheries and artisan traditions including coral work, gold filigree and lace-making. You then continue to Alghero for check-in and overnight.
Day 4 - Alghero Unveiled – Medieval Streets & Coastal Wonders
After breakfast, you set out on a walking tour of Alghero’s historic centre. With its Catalan heritage and sea-facing medieval walls, Alghero has a character unlike anywhere else in Sardinia. Often nicknamed Barceloneta, the town still reflects its connection to the Crown of Aragon. As you walk through the old town, you'll discover elegant palaces, churches and tucked-away courtyards that speak to its long and fascinating past.
After lunch, which is not included, you'll continue to the Capo Caccia Natural Reserve. This dramatic headland is one of the island’s most striking coastal landscapes, with sweeping views from the cliffs and lighthouse. Thereafter, return to Alghero, where you have free time to enjoy the town at your own pace. Overnight in Alghero.
Day 5 - Flavours of Gallura – Wine, Landscapes & Northern Shores
After breakfast, enjoy some free time to relax. Around midday, you travel to a local estate in the Gallura region for a wine tasting paired with regional products.
Gallura is one of Sardinia’s most scenic and distinctive areas, known for its granite landscapes, rolling hills, dramatic coastline and strong local traditions. It is also the home of Vermentino, one of the island’s best-known wines. This tasting offers a chance to enjoy the flavours of the region in an authentic setting.
Followed by continuing to Santa Teresa di Gallura, where you check in to your hotel. Overnight in Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Day 6 - Santa Teresa di Gallura – Seaside Serenity & Island Escape
After breakfast, enjoy a free day in Santa Teresa di Gallura, a lively town on Sardinia’s northern coast known for its clear waters, attractive beaches and relaxed atmosphere. You may wish to stroll through the town’s narrow streets, browse local shops, stop at one of the cafés or simply spend time by the sea.
Optional excursions to La Maddalena Island are available - please refer to our Premium Italy Private Tour Collection. Overnight in Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Day 7 - Northern Sardinia at Leisure – Culture, Coastlines & Hidden Gems
After breakfast, the day is free to enjoy Santa Teresa di Gallura at your own pace. We recommend visiting the Torre di Longonsardo, a historic coastal tower with panoramic views over the shoreline and neighbouring islands. Whether you prefer to relax by the water or explore more of the town’s history, this is a wonderful place to enjoy Sardinia’s northern coast.
Optional tours are available to Bonifacio in Corsica or along the Costa Smeralda, including Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo - please refer to our Premium Italy Private Tour Collection. Overnight in Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Day 8 - Farewell Sardinia – Departure via Olbia
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. End of our services.
