Itinerary
Day 1 - Voss
Arrive in Voss, a lakeside town between the Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord, celebrated for friluftsliv – Norway’s outdoor focused way of life. Around 6pm we meet our tour leader and fellow travellers to get to know one another and hear more about the adventures ahead. Our tour leader then offers a warm Norwegian welcome by arranging a group dinner. If you’d like extra time in Voss, Bergen or Oslo, you can book additional hotel nights before the tour through your sales representative.
Day 2 - Hardangerfjord - Voss
We ease into the adventure with a calm water kayaking trip on the Hardangerfjord (two to three hours; transfer 30 minutes). With cliffs rising above and small farms along the shore, the fjord has long been central to life here – our local guide shares stories, points out seabirds and explains how people have used these waters for centuries. After time for lunch in Voss, we trade paddles for altitude, riding the Hanguren gondola to the top of Mount Hanguren – just nine minutes from valley floor to upper slopes – where walking paths branch across the ridge. From the top, we walk back to Voss with the tour leader (6mi/9.5km, about 2hr 15min). If you would rather relax, you can take the gondola back down instead.
Day 3 - Voss
This morning Voss becomes our playground as we head out on electric mountain bikes. The assistance smooths the terrain, letting us ride for about 2hr 30min through rugged trails, pristine forest and striking mountain landscapes, while our expert bike guide shares favourite viewpoints and adjusts the pace to the group. Afterwards, we transfer 20 minutes to the clear Raundal River for an exhilarating 1hr 30min rafting run – skilled river guides help us read the water as we paddle through wave trains and calmer stretches – an adventure suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters.
Day 4 - Myrdal - Aurlandsfjord - Nærøyfjord - Gudvangen - Voss
We take the train to Myrdal this morning, a high mountain station famed for its engineering heritage. From here we walk about 30 minutes on a short gravel track to Vatnahalsen, then clip into northern Europe’s longest zipline, flying 4,530ft (1,381m) to the small goat farm of Rallarosa in Kårdalen. On arrival we pause to sample their cheese before a two hour bike ride down the beautiful Flåm Valley to Flåm (9mi/15km). We then switch to the water for a two hour RIB ride along the Aurlandsfjord and into the narrow Nærøyfjord, surrounded by towering mountains – we enjoy excellent views of traditional farms and may even spot grazing goats and basking seals. Mooring at Gudvangen, we transfer 50 minutes back to Voss.
Day 5 - Voss
You’ve paddled on the Hardangerfjord, flown down northern Europe’s longest zipline and travelled deep into UNESCO listed fjords – now it’s time to begin your journey home. Our tour leader arranges a group drop off at the airport. If you’d like to extend your adventure, speak to your sales representative to discuss extension options in Voss, Bergen and Oslo.
