Start in Porto and end in Santiago de Compostela on a 15 day journey along the Atlantic edge. You’ll explore UNESCO listed lanes and Port wine cellars, then follow boardwalks past sands, dunes and fishing villages toward Viana do Castelo. Expect to see wild coastlines, eucalyptus forests and a scenic ferry across the River Minho into Spain. You’ll visit the Santa Tegra Celtic hillfort, the monastery backed shores of Oia, medieval Baiona and lively Vigo, with oyster stops in Arcade and tapas filled squares in Pontevedra. Thermal waters at Caldas de Reis ease tired legs before the final approach to the cathedral – a memorable Camino finish.

Day 1 - Porto at Leisure
A UNESCO World Heritage city, repeatedly voted Europe’s best city destination in 2013, 2014 and 2017, Porto is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Arrive at your own pace and wander the old centre – home to more than 1,500 listed monuments – and discover the history of traditional Port wine by visiting its cellars.
Day 2 - Walking to Vila do Conde
Take a morning walking transfer to Matosinhos, then follow wooden boardwalks and pavements along the coastline – wide sandy beaches, nature reserves and fishing villages – to the historic coastal town of Vila do Conde.
Distance: 20 km / 12.4 miles
Day 3 - Walking to Esposende
You walk beside the coast through flowers, sand dunes and beaches, then head north across the coastal natural park towards Esposende – an old fishing village with a fine setting on the estuary of the River Cavado.
Distance: 25 km / 15.5 miles
Day 4 - Walking to Viana do Castelo
Pass through villages and delightful stretches of woodland and rivers before reaching Viana do Castelo – an attractive town known for its ancient and contemporary architecture and magnificent views over the Lima valley and estuary to distant mountain ranges.

Day 5 - Walking to Vila Praia de Ancora
Today’s journey is mostly inland, with occasional coastal views from hillside villages. Enjoy the shade of eucalyptus forest as you climb before descending to the relaxed beachside resort of Vila Praia de Ancora.

Day 6 - Walking to Moledo, Caminha & A Guarda
Follow the coastal path to Moledo, then continue to the charming town of Caminha. You can choose to walk through the pine forest beside the beach, before we take a scenic ferry across the River Minho to the fishing town of A Guarda in Spain.
Distance: 15 km / 9.3 miles
Day 7 - Walking to Oia
Before leaving A Guarda, you may visit the Santa Tegra Celtic settlement – the views are spectacular. Follow the coastal Camino through forest to the seaside village of Oia, dominated by its 12th century monastery.
Distance: 13 km / 8.1 miles
Day 8 - Walking to Baiona
Begin along fields and coastal villages before a total change of scenery as you reach the mountains. Continue through the countryside and arrive at Baiona’s medieval centre – passing two ancient churches.

Day 9 - Walking to Vigo
From Santa Maria church, you can walk through the countryside on peaceful paths and beside rivers. As the way climbs, stop to admire wonderful views before entering Vigo via a park.
Distance: 25 km / 15.5 miles
Day 10 - Walking to Arcade
Start the day in peaceful hillside villages with beautiful views over the estuary and port, then descend to Arcade – a riverside town famous for its oysters.

Day 11 - Walking to Pontevedra
Leave Arcade via its iconic bridge and follow ancient stone paths up through the forest. You take a scenic detour along the River Tomeza to approach Pontevedra amid birdsong and greenery, then explore the historical city centre and its vibrant squares to enjoy tapas at a local bar.
Distance: 13 km / 8.1 miles
Day 12 - Walking to Caldas de Reis
Walk through lovely countryside and peaceful forest to the riverside spa town of Caldas de Reis – known for its thermal waters and healing properties – and enjoy the thermal spring on the main square.
Distance: 22 km / 13.7 miles
Day 13 - Walking to Padron
Cross a luxuriant landscape alongside the Valga River, passing several impressive churches and stone crosses en route to Padron – the riverside town where St James’s body is said to have been laid to rest by his faithful followers.
Distance: 19 km / 11.8 miles
Day 14 - Arrive in Santiago de Compostela
You complete the final stage of the Camino through Galician villages, then enter Santiago’s medieval narrow streets as the atmosphere builds – arriving at the cathedral square. Congratulations on an epic walk!
