Day 1 - Zurich
Welcome to Zurich, the starting point of your exciting journey. Upon your arrival, we will take you to your hotel, ensuring a smooth start to your adventure. Afterwards, you'll have some free time to relax or explore the city at your leisure. In the afternoon, be sure to check the information boards at the hotel reception, where you'll find all the details about the beginning of your tour. Enjoy discovering Switzerland's largest city and get ready for the experiences that await. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Zurich
On our second day, we delve into the vibrant city of Zurich, Switzerland's largest metropolis, known for being both a financial hub and cultural centre. Twice acknowledged for offering the best quality of life globally, Zurich is famed for its banking sector, but there is much more to discover. We explore the city's highlights with our knowledgeable guide, ensuring you experience Zurich's unique blend of modernity and tradition. Later, we embark on a picturesque two-hour cruise on Lake Zurich, pausing at several quaint villages along the route to soak in the idyllic scenery. Our journey continues to the charming village of Rapperswil, celebrated for its medieval castle perched above the town. Returning to Zurich, we take the train, offering you first-hand experience of Switzerland's renowned railway efficiency and punctuality. Please note, depending on the size of our group, we may use public transport for transfers to and from the city centre.
Day 3 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today promises a journey through stunning alpine landscapes featuring majestic mountains and serene lakes. We will venture to the Interlaken region, famous for its breathtaking views. Our first stop is Grindelwald, where you'll have a chance to relax with a coffee before we ascend the mountain via cable car. At the top, a winding path leads to a suspended bridge offering daring adventurers a spectacular panorama of the surrounding glaciers. Lunch on the mountain is included, giving you more time to soak up the incredible views before we make our descent.Our next destination is Lucerne, one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities, where you can explore and relish its charming cityscape at your leisure. Later, we will return to Zurich. For those seeking an additional adventure, our guide offers an optional full-day excursion. This includes a morning of free time in Lucerne, followed by a ride on a rotating cable car to the summit of Mount Titlis. At over 3,000 metres above sea level, the peak offers awe-inspiring views of the glacier and the surrounding Alps.
Day 4 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
Departing Zurich early in the morning, we'll embark on a scenic journey across the Alps, entering the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first stop is the historic city of Bellinzona, famed for its trio of medieval castles that have earned it UNESCO World Heritage status. These impressive structures, situated on the hills overlooking the city, showcase Bellinzona's strategic importance in the region's history. You'll have the opportunity to explore the quaint streets of the city centre at your leisure.We then continue our journey into Italy, pausing in the enchanting town of Como for lunch. Nestled in Lombardy, Como is renowned for its splendid gardens by the lake and its magnificent cathedral. Before heading to Milan, you'll have some time to admire the town's charm. Upon arrival in Milan, our guide will lead you to the grand Piazza del Duomo, where you can soak in the vibrant atmosphere and explore the area at your own pace before we head to the hotel.
Day 5 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Today, our adventure takes us further into Italy as we travel from Milan to Pisa. In Pisa, we'll enjoy a delightful ride on a small tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli, known as the Square of Miracles. Here, you'll have the chance to marvel at one of Italy's most iconic architectural ensembles, which includes the renowned Leaning Tower of Pisa. Once we've soaked in the splendour of this magnificent complex, we'll set our sights on Rome, where we'll arrive later in the day, ready for the next stage of our journey.
Day 6 - Rome
In the morning, we will embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, the Eternal City, renowned as a cornerstone of Western civilisation. Our journey combines a walking tour through the heart of Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus ride to showcase the city's historic grandeur. Together, we will discover iconic sites such as the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the legendary Colosseum, and the Imperial Forums. We will continue past the Circus Maximus and the Baths of Caracalla, admire the impressive Basilica of Saint Mary Major, and view the Pyramid of Cestius and the historic Castel Sant'Angelo. Our tour concludes around 11:00 a.m. at Vatican City. Afterwards, you may choose to delve deeper by visiting the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, a remarkable opportunity offered by our guide. As the day draws to a close, we will transport you to the vibrant Trastevere neighbourhood, famed for its charming dining spots and vibrant atmosphere. We will return to the hotel at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Day 7 - Rome - Florence
Today, we will depart Rome and head north, savouring the delightful scenery along the route. Our first stop is the spectacular Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence, where you'll be treated to panoramic views of the city. From there, we'll stroll towards the historic centre, where you'll have some time for lunch. Afterwards, we will join a local expert for a guided walking tour, exploring renowned landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and Piazza della Signoria. Florence is truly an open-air museum. Following the tour, you'll have the opportunity to wander and discover the city's charm at your own pace. As evening approaches, Florence offers a wide array of dining options, with restaurants featuring both local and international cuisines, ensuring a delightful end to your day.
Day 8 - Florence - Venice
Today, we'll traverse the breathtaking Apennine mountain range on our way to Venice. Upon arrival, we'll board a boat to cross the Giudecca Canal, reaching the enchanting island of Venice itself. Accompanied by a local guide, we'll explore the iconic St. Mark's Square, a symbol of the city's rich history and architecture. Following this, we'll visit the renowned Murano Glass Factory to observe the captivating craftsmanship behind the world-famous Murano glass. You'll then have some free time to discover Venice at your own pace, taking in its unique charm and atmosphere. Our accommodation for the night will be in the Mestre district.
Day 9 - Venice
After breakfast, our journey concludes in Venice, leaving you with delightful memories to cherish. As you depart, reflect on the rich experiences and stunning landscapes you've encountered throughout the tour.
