The Old City

Enjoy a tour of the Old City from where the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires were ruled. We’ll visit the stunning Blue Mosque famed for it’s blue Iznik tiles, Hippodrome, Hagia Sofia - constructed as a Basilica in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian and Topkapi Palace.

Day 3

Gallipoli - WW1 Battlefields

Istanbul – Gallipoli. Today we explore ANZAC Cove and the many memorials dotted across the WW1 battlefields. Our guided tour takes in sights such as ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Memorial and cemetery, Chunuk Bair Memorial and cemetery, the Nek, Johnston’s Jolly and the many fortified trenches still clearly visible amongst the scrub after all these years.
Overnight: Canakkale  |  Breakfast

Day 4

Troy & Kusadasi

Gallipoli – Kusadasi. This morning we enjoy a short guided tour of Troy! The legend of the lost city of Troy and Homer’s poetry was bought alive by it’s rediscovery in 1863. Subsequent excavations revealed nine ancient cities, one on top of the other, dating back to 3000 BC! We enjoy a tour of the ruins and bear witness to a replica of the stoic Trojan wooden horse that, as the story goes, was filled to the gunnels with Aechaean soldiers who helped sack Troy.

Driving further south to the ancient ruins of Pergamum, home to one of the steepest, vertigo - inducing amphitheatres in the classical world. Pergamum was also famous for its Asclepion (medical centre). We continue to Kusadasi on the Aegean Coast via a leather manufacturing house.
Overnight: Kusadasi  |  Breakfast

Day 5

Ancient Ephesus

Today, we explore legendary Ephesus - positively the best-preserved classical city in the eastern Mediterranean. Ephesus, under the Romans was a vast city with a population nearing 250,000, revelling in prosperity from commerce and visiting pilgrims who came to see its great Temple of Artemis - one of the Seven Ancient Wonders.

We have plenty of time to tour the marble ruins of Ephesus. Be sure to see the famous Library of Celsus, the gymnasium of Vedius, Stadium, and the Great Theatre. We’ll see ancient public toilets, a brothel, fountains and various temples. We also visit a carpet manufacturing house.
Overnight: Kusadasi  |  Breakfast

Day 6

Pamukkale Thermal Pools

Kusadasi – Pamukkale. Driving east, we arrive at Pamukkale - home of the famous gleaming white calcium terraced pools. Known locally as the Cotton Castles, they are a natural phenomena and gift of Mother Nature. Pamukkale was formed when warm, calcium rich mineral water cascaded over the cliff edge, cooling and depositing in the process. The calcium built natural shelves and pools on the cliffs, known as travertines. Take a barefoot walk along the traverines or opt for a dip in the warm waters of the Pamukkale Thermal pool, with its submerged fragments of fluted marble columns. Our last stop for the day is the ruined spa town of Hierapolis, famed for the curative powers of mineral springs, dammed to create communal baths.
Overnight: Pamukkale  |  Breakfast

Days 7-8

Fairytale Cappadocia

Pamukkale - Cappadocia. On our drive to Cappadocia, we visit some ancient caravanserais such as Sultanhani caravanserai. Tonight (day 7) why not join us on an optional and fun Turkish evening out.

On day 8, after breakfast and a good night’s rest, we enjoy a guided tour of Cappadocia - perhaps the jewel in Turkey’s crown. Cappadocia is one of Turkey’s most extraordinary national treasures. The utter improbability of the seemingly surreal landscape has to be seen to be believed with its ‘stuff of fables’ cave dwellings and phallic ‘fairy chimneys’ landscape. Whole troglodyte villages, subterranean churches and fortresses have been hewn from the soft, porous, eerily eroded rock of Cappadocia. The crumbling legacy of persecuted Christians trying to escape the Muslim onslaught in 1st-10th centuries AD by effectively heading underground is one of Turkey’s finest attractions.

A guided tour of the region takes us to the World – Heritage listed site of the Göreme Valley where you’ll see stunning examples of rock-cut Byzantine churches, chapels and temples and Zelve with its phallic-like eroded landscape. Stopping on the outskirts of Goreme Village we have the opportunity to see Pigeon Valley where century’s old pigeon houses are carved into the surrounding cliffs, the pigeon droppings that litter the area have been used as fertilizer on crops for generations. Here you will also have the opportunity to visit an Onyx shop, specialising in historic jewellery designs unique to Turkey and using local materials and craftsmen. For those not interested in shopping spend a little time relaxing and grab a drink from the local cafe. This evening, we enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Overnight: Cappadocia  |  Breakfast x 2, Dinner x 1

Day 9

Back to Istanbul

Cappadocia - Istanbul. Today we head back to Istanbul, stopping en route for lunch (payable locally). We arrive into Istanbul in the evening.
Overnight: Istanbul  |  Breakfast

The tour was great. Tour Guide Erkan Can was knowledgable, helpful, humorous, attentive and so much more. I learned a lot from him. My checked luggage did not arrive at Ataturk Airport when I did. Erkan got involved immediately in trying to sort out the problem which enabled me to relax. With his help, I got my luggage before leaving Istanbul. I cannot say enough good things about him as he made my trip one of the best I have ever taken. I would also like to pass on some comments about our driver, Cengiz Tanrivermis. He was so helpful also; eager to do anything he could to meet our requests. He has a great personality and was a pleasure to be with each day. This was my first On The Go Tour and it was just perfect from beginning to ending.

First of all, thanks Mark Prymier for quickly taking care of my booking in such a short notice. Also, Yusuf, the driver, was awesome in guaranteeing our safety and enjoyable transportation. Esra, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and helpful along the way and I truly learned a lot about Turkey from her. It was an amazing trip. It started slow but it got better every day. Ephesus was amazing to see, and taking a walk along the traverine terrace in Pamukkale was soothing and relaxing. Not to mention taking a hot air balloon watching the sunrise at Cappadocia with amazing landscape alone made the trip worthwhile. Lastly, thanks on the go for having such a well organized tour and treating us a lot of local treats and dinners. I highly recommend this tour to anybody.

From family and friends who begged as not to go to Turkey due to the recent events...we went and found a country full of surprizes. Great people and great food. Our expectations were exceeded, learned soo much from our guide and had a couple of moments were the sites took your breath away....wow moments of just being in awe of what the ancient civiliazation built.

Unfortunetly so many people cancelled their trip to Turkey and our group ended up just being 4. But the 4 of us and with our guide Recep, we created memories that is so precious to me. We made new friends for life.

A huge thank you to Recep for the great birthday surprize cake for my husband at one of the restaurants. All the efforts you made for our little group of 4 speaks volume about your love for your country, passion and work ethics.

I encourage all to go to Turkey! No where did we ever feel unsafe. Security everywhere. My heart goes out to all effected by the drop in tourist. The media made it worst and its unfair to the ordinary citizens relying on the tourism industry.

Good Day,

I would like to thank and commend OTG Tours for a wonderful tour. It was really exciting and memorable, beyond what I had anticipated before the tour.

The guide and the driver were truly excellent. I also appreciate gesture of affording us those extra dinners that were not specified as part of the tour and also the special arrangements that were made to transport Lene and I to another hotel at the end of the tour due to a wrong assumption made by the travel agent.

Thank you

Kind regards,

John Wilson

Our tour of Turkey was excellent. We were looked after from the time we arrived till we left. We never had to worry about a thing.

All our accommodation was very good and all meals at the accommodation and the restaurants/cafes which were arranged by On The Go Tours were excellent. As I am vegetarian Erkan would arrange my meals. All meals were excellent.

Our tour guide Erkan was very passionate about Turkey and was very knowledgeable. All our questions were clearly answered. Each day Erkan told us what we would be doing, we were never left in the dark. There was plenty of time at every tour stop, we never felt rushed.

Erkan always ensured our 86 year old mother was okay and provided her with the assistance she required so that she was able to accompany us on all parts of the tour.

Thanks also to Cengiz our bus driver who was always very friendly and easy to communicate with.

I would be more then happy to travel with On The Go Tours again.

Erkan was more the helpful with our group, he went out of his way to make sure everything was taken care of. Checked the weather for every day the night before and just did a lot of things we didn't expect of him. He was also extremely helpful with my grandmother as she is 86 and very patient. Lovely and generous man. Thank you!

The ten day tour was fantastic, the highlights being Gallipoli and Cappadocia. Our tour guide Huseyin was full of stories and knowledge of Turkey and he never had a problem with any question directed at him, the best tour guide I have been with. Our small group of twelve was a great fit and we all had a fantastic time together.

We have just finished our 10 day tour. Having not visited Turkey before we didn't know much about this country but our tour guide Recep Aydin with an amazing amount of knowledge shared the many stories and history of this fascinating country. Recep was fantastic at getting us to where we needed to go and always just a bit ahead of the big tour buses. What precision! Thanks Recep for your knowledge, warmth and sense of humour. Our driver Amed was fantastic at getting us safely from place to place. It was great travelling with a small group - it seems much more personal. One negative was the hotel that we stayed in at Kusadasi. The rooms were in desperate need of refurbishment which apparently is happening in the future. Very happy with the other hotels however. All in all it was a fantastic experience that we would highly recommend. Heather and Leigh Munro

I can't rate this tour high enough! This has been my favourite trip I've ever taken, and I've travelled a lot! Erkan was spectacular, and his knowledge about Turkey (and everything else) was astounding. Everything went so smoothly, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best trip! Accommodation was all fantastic, service was amazing, and our lovely smiley driver (forgot his name sorry! Ahmet??) made us very secure and safe.

Having wifi on the bus was a huge plus as the hotel wifi was average, and having porter service and unexpected included dinners were great as well.

Highlights of the trip? Everything! But Gallipoli and the balloon ride in Cappadocia were definitely up there with the best of it.

Highly recommend this trip! Anyone thinking about this needs to do it!
