Day 1 - Nairobi
After landing at Nairobi International Airport, proceed to the arrivals hall – our representative will meet you and arrange your transfer to the hotel. Check in is from 2.00 pm; if you arrive in the middle of the night, you must book a night in advance, as waiting in the lobby is not permitted.Enjoy an afternoon at leisure – relax in the landscaped gardens or by the large pool. You may also choose to head into Nairobi’s city centre and return for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant at your own expense.Overnight in Nairobi.
Day 2 - Nairobi - Serena
We leave Nairobi early this morning, travelling through Kenya’s fertile highlands before descending the Rift Escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners during World War II – keep an eye out for the chapel at the foot of the escarpment. We pass the Longonot earth satellite station, cross the valley to Narok and continue through fields of wheat and barley to the Maasai Mara, arriving at Sentrim Mara Camp in time for lunch. You may wish to take a brief siesta, then we head out on our first afternoon game drive. Sentrim Mara Camp – just three kilometres from Sekenani Gate – makes an excellent base, with rustic style tents set among acacia trees, each with modern en suite bathrooms, hot showers and a raised private balcony for sunset views over hills filled with wildlife. The pool also offers views. Dinner is served at the lodge this evening. Overnight in the Maasai Mara.
Day 3 - Serena
We start with an early breakfast before setting out on a morning game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, home to the iconic Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and black rhino – along with antelopes, gazelles, wildebeest and more. We return to the lodge for lunch and a short break, then head back out for an afternoon game drive and a visit to a Maasai village. We arrive back at the lodge around sunset and end the day with dinner. Overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 4 - Elementaita
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the Maasai Mara and drive across Kenya’s breadbasket, passing sweeping fields of wheat and barley as we head north to Narok – the district headquarters for this part of Maasailand. We cross the wide plains on the floor of the Great Rift Valley and climb the Mau Escarpment, with good chances to spot herds of giraffes and gazelles en route. We arrive at Sentrim Elementaita Lodge around midday, on the shores of Lake Elementaita, a haven for flamingos and pelicans. After lunch, we set out on an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park – its waters often tinged pink by thousands of flamingos. This fully fenced 188 square kilometre park carefully protects both black and white rhinos and is also home to the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, along with buffalo, leopards, zebras, elands, waterbucks and lions. We return to the lodge at sunset for dinner.Overnight at Lake Elementaita.
Day 5 - Nairobi
After an early breakfast, we drive south to Lake Naivasha for a one‑hour boat ride, exploring a tranquil Rift Valley lake that sits among the region’s highest elevations. Expect excellent birdlife and close views of hippos before we continue towards Nairobi for an early lunch – or a picnic lunch, depending on road conditions. We then travel south to Amboseli National Park, arriving at Sentrim Amboseli Camp in the late afternoon. Set on the park’s border, the camp faces Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest mountain – and is considered one of the best places to see elephants at close range. The camp provides a comfortable base for exploring Amboseli, with protected tents, each with a private veranda, plus a pool area framed by Kilimanjaro, a restaurant and a bar. We round off the day with dinner at the lodge.Overnight in Amboseli.
Day 6 - Nairobi
After breakfast, we head out for morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli National Park – a landscape of seasonal lakebed, delicate grassland and pockets of acacia woodland, with swamps that attract abundant birdlife. Wildlife is varied and often visible, with opportunities to spot rhinos, giraffes, gazelles, lions, cheetahs and leopards, all set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro rising some 5,000 metres above the plains. We pause for a warm picnic lunch in the park before returning to the lodge in the afternoon. On arrival you can unwind or take a quick dip in the pool, then we meet for dinner. Overnight at Amboseli.
Day 7 - Nairobi
After an early breakfast, we take in final views of Mount Kilimanjaro before driving northwards across the vast Athi Plains to Nairobi. We aim to arrive in the capital or at the airport by around 1:30 pm for drop off and onward arrangements – we recommend booking departure flights from 4:00 pm onwards.
