We will visit the bustling central market and the charming Habous district, known for its traditional architecture. Day 3 - Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes - Fes - Fes
After breakfast, we depart for Rabat, Morocco’s capital. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided panoramic tour including the Royal Palace (Mechouar), the Kasbah of the Oudayas, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the Hassan Tower. Following an optional lunch, we continue to Meknes, a former imperial city renowned for its grand architecture under Sultan Moulay Ismail in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Explore the impressive city walls, the ornate gates of Bab Mansour and Bab El-Khemis, El Hedim Square, and the Dar El Ma market. We then travel past the ruins of the ancient Phoenician city of Volubilis (entrance not included) and the holy town of Moulay Idriss before arriving in Fez for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Fes - Fes
After breakfast, we spend the day exploring the captivating city of Fez, which boasts over twelve centuries of history. Its medina, Fez el Bali, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the world’s oldest university. This vast, car-free labyrinth of narrow alleys is alive with the sounds and scents of daily life—from tanned leather and oriental perfumes to barbecues and sweet pastries. We visit either the Bou Inania or Attarine madrasah, depending on availability, both renowned for their stunning central courtyards. We also see the Quaraouiyine Mosque, the Nejjarrine Fountain, and the carpenters’ district, where the aroma of cedar fills the air. The medina is dotted with places of study and worship, including madrasahs and the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss Zaouia, Morocco’s most important saint’s shrine. In the afternoon, we explore the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter, before heading to the city outskirts to view the Royal Palace and enjoy panoramic views from the northern fortifications. We then return to the hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - Fes - Beni Mellal - Marrakech - Marrakech
After breakfast, we leave Fez and travel southwest towards Marrakech. The journey offers a varied landscape and several opportunities for memorable photographs as we follow the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we pass through the charming mountain town of Ifrane, situated at 1,650 metres above sea level, and the Berber villages of Azrou and Khenifra. There is an optional stop in Beni-Mellal, a town surrounded by orange and olive groves that appeals to nature lovers and adventurers alike. Later, we arrive in Marrakech and check in to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 6 - Marrakech - Marrakech
After breakfast, we explore Marrakech’s most iconic landmarks, beginning with the Koutoubia Mosque. Its 70-metre minaret, dating from the late 12th century, is the city’s most recognisable feature and reflects the Almohad Empire’s influence across North Africa and southern Iberia. Next, we visit the exquisite Bahia Palace, renowned for its intricate cedar woodwork and marble detailing, followed by a tour of the Heritage Museum. After returning to the hotel for lunch, we delve into the walled Medina, wandering its labyrinth of alleys and vibrant souks, where you can admire the craftsmanship on display. Our walk ends at Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the lively heart of Marrakech, where as the sun sets, the square comes alive with stalls, snake charmers, Gnawa musicians and a colourful array of performers. We also visit a traditional herbalist’s shop, offering an insight into Moroccan remedies and products. If you wish, you can conclude the day with an optional dinner in an historic palace within the Medina, accompanied by a folkloric show. Overnight in Marrakech.
