Day 1 - Liberia
Your Costa Rican adventure begins upon arrival at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia, located in the country’s northwestern region. Here, a representative will meet you before you take a shared transfer to Rincón de la Vieja, where you will spend your first night. This area is known for its volcanic landscapes and natural hot springs, offering a refreshing introduction to Costa Rica’s diverse environment. Overnight accommodation is arranged in Rincón de la Vieja.
Day 2 - San Carlos
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we transfer by shared vehicle from Rincon de la Vieja to Arenal. Known for its active volcano, the Arenal area is a hub for adventure enthusiasts. Upon arrival at the hotel, you have the afternoon at your leisure to explore independently or take part in an optional activity. You might choose the Canopy Tour at Arenal Ecoglide Park, which features 15 cables and 18 platforms set mostly among the trees, including the thrilling Tarzan Swing. Alternatively, you could enjoy kayaking on Lake Arenal, where guides provide equipment and instruction before leading you along the shoreline with views of the volcano and opportunities to spot local birdlife such as Great Blue Herons and Kingfishers. For a more relaxing option, the Tabacon Hot Springs offer a chance to unwind in natural thermal waters. Please note that optional activities are not included. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 3 - San Carlos
After breakfast, we take a guided walking tour through Arenal Volcano National Park. As we explore the lush landscape beneath the dormant volcano, keep an eye out for wildlife such as sloths, howler monkeys and anteaters that inhabit the area. Following the hike, return to the hotel where you can relax, explore independently or choose to join an optional activity. You may wish to revisit the Canopy Tour at Arenal Ecoglide, enjoy kayaking on Lake Arenal, or unwind at the renowned Tabacon Hot Springs, depending on your preference. Optional activities are not included. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 4 - Sarapiqui
After breakfast, we check out and take a shared transfer to the Sarapiquí region, nestled in the foothills of Braulio Carrillo National Park. This area is rich in rainforest, mountain streams and pasturelands, offering a refreshing natural setting. We settle into comfortable lodge accommodation designed to blend with the surroundings. You can spend the afternoon enjoying the environment or choose from several optional activities. For adventure, there is rafting on the Sarapiquí River, featuring class II–III rapids with names like ‘Roller Coaster’ and ‘Superman’ that promise an exciting ride through lush rainforest. Alternatively, join a chocolate tour that explores the history and cultivation of cacao on a guided walk through the Tirimbina forest, including a visit to a traditional cacao plot used for environmental education. If you prefer to stay above ground, the canopy tour offers a thrilling zip-line experience through the treetops, providing a unique perspective on one of Costa Rica’s most biodiverse areas. Day 5 - Tortuguero
This morning, we take a shared transfer from Sarapiqui to nearby Guapiles, where you change buses for a second shared transfer to your hotel in Tortuguero. En route, enjoy a tasty breakfast before continuing through the jungle by boat, cruising the rivers and canals of Tortuguero National Park. Upon arrival, check in and have lunch at your eco-lodge. Later, we board the boat again to visit Tortuguero village, where you can stroll along its well-kept paths, explore the striking beaches, and experience local life. During turtle hatching season—from September to December—you may witness baby turtles making their way to the sea. The rest of the day is yours to relax at the lodge, surrounded by tropical forest and abundant wildlife.
Day 6 - Tortuguero
Today, enjoy a leisurely morning by the pool before setting out on a three-hour guided tour of Tortuguero National Park. This renowned park is home to over 350 protected species, including a variety of birds, monkeys, crocodiles, and sloths, all thriving amid lush tropical vegetation. During the turtle nesting season from July to September, you may choose to join an optional late-night tour to witness turtles nesting on the beach, available to purchase directly at the lodge. Please note that the park entrance fee is not included. Overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 7 - San Jose
After breakfast, we leave Tortuguero by shared transfer, travelling first by boat through the canals before continuing by road to the capital, San José. Upon arrival, we check in to the hotel, leaving you the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore the city at your own pace. Overnight in San José.
Day 8 - San Jose - Vara Blanca
After breakfast, we travel to the picturesque area of Vara Blanca. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to explore this verdant region. Known for its breathtaking views of Poás Volcano and its lush cloud forests, Vara Blanca offers a peaceful setting to unwind. You might choose to stroll along the tranquil trails of Poás Volcano National Park, visit the nearby La Paz Waterfall Gardens, or simply relax and take in the cool mountain air and abundant wildlife. Overnight in Vara Blanca.
Day 9 - Vara Blanca - Jaco
After breakfast at the hotel, we collect you for a shared transfer from the Vara Blanca area to the Central Pacific coast. This region is renowned for its striking sandy beaches and protected wildlife, offering a unique blend of ocean vistas and lush tropical vegetation. The combination of coastal beauty and rich natural surroundings creates a landscape unlike any other. We overnight in Jaco, a vibrant beach town on the Central Pacific coast.
Day 10 - Jaco
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel before spending the day at your leisure. You may choose to relax and make the most of the hotel’s facilities or take part in optional activities. For those seeking adventure, the Canopy Tour offers an exhilarating experience designed to showcase nature responsibly. The tour begins with a 15-minute tractor ride to the mountaintop, where you will descend through a series of zip lines spanning 15 platforms and 14 cables, covering a total distance of 3.5 kilometres. Highlights include the longest cable in the area, stretching 732 metres, and stunning views over Herradura Bay, the Nicoya Gulf, and nearby islands. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as Scarlet Macaws, chestnut-mandible toucans, and white-faced monkeys. Optional activities are not included. Overnight in Jaco.
Day 11 - Liberia
Enjoy a delicious breakfast to start your final day in Costa Rica. At the designated time, we transfer you to Liberia International Airport for your onward flight home. Breakfast is included.
