Day 1 - Pula
Arrive at Pula Airport, where our local representative will welcome you and assist with your car hire, providing all necessary information for your departure day. You will then drive to your hotel in Pula, the largest town on the Istrian peninsula. This vibrant town offers a rich mix of cultural, historical and gastronomic attractions to explore at your leisure. If you wish, you can book an optional two-hour private city tour to discover Pula's hidden corners with a knowledgeable guide. Overnight in Pula.
Day 2 - Pula
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin exploring Pula, often compared to Rome for its rich Roman heritage. The city's standout landmark is the vast Roman Amphitheatre, one of the best-preserved of its kind. As we wander through these ancient ruins, you can imagine the gladiatorial contests that once took place here. The rest of the day is yours to discover more of Pula's historical sites, vibrant streets and local atmosphere at your own pace. We spend the night in Pula.
Day 3 - Pula - Ljubljana
After a leisurely breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin the drive to Slovenia, a country renowned for its stunning natural landscapes. Your journey will take you past verdant rivers, turquoise coastlines and snow-capped mountains before you arrive in Ljubljana, Europe's smallest capital city. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and start exploring this vibrant political and cultural centre. Alternatively, you may choose to join an optional two-hour guided city tour to discover Ljubljana's highlights with a private guide. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 4 - Ljubljana
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free day to explore Ljubljana at your own pace. Wander through the city's streets and discover its rich history, from its Roman origins as Emona to its Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. Experience Slovenian cuisine at a local restaurant and explore the city's cultural events, open-air markets, bike lanes and shopping districts. If you prefer outdoor activities, there are numerous hiking and cycling trails both within the city and nearby. For a more adventurous option, you might try a water rafting experience at one of the local adventure centres. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Day 5 - Plitvice Lakes
After breakfast, we depart for Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia's most remarkable natural treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nestled within dense forests, the park is renowned for its diverse flora and fauna, stunning lakes, and cascading waterfalls. We will take a leisurely walk along the scenic trails, allowing you to fully appreciate the park's unique beauty and tranquil atmosphere. You will then settle in for a comfortable overnight stay at your chosen hotel in Plitvice. Alternatively, you may opt to join our four-hour guided tour of Plitvice National Park, led by an English-speaking guide, to explore this extraordinary landscape in greater detail.
Day 6 - Rijeka
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive to Rijeka, a city shaped by its Italian and Habsburg heritage. Known as the Port of Diversity, Rijeka offers a vibrant cultural scene and lively entertainment options. You may wish to experience the country's largest carnival here, where thousands of masked participants parade along the main street, Korzo. Overnight in Rijeka.
Day 7 - Rijeka
After breakfast at the hotel, set out to explore the Rijeka region. Visit Trsat Castle, a historic fortress offering panoramic views over the city and Kvarner Bay. Then, take a scenic drive to nearby charming villages such as Moscenicka Draga, Veprinac, and Kastav. Enjoy local cuisine at well-regarded restaurants in Moscenicka Draga and Volosko. If you wish, you can join an optional two-hour tour of Opatija, a vibrant coastal town just 30 minutes from Rijeka, known for its elegant architecture and seaside promenade. Overnight in Rijeka.
Day 8 - Rijeka - Pula
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out of your hotel. You will then drive to Pula Airport to return your rental car and prepare for your onward flight. This marks the conclusion of your time in Croatia.
