Day 1 - Copenhagen
Welcome to Copenhagen – we arrange your transfer to the hotel. You have time to settle in and begin exploring at your own pace. We share practical information this afternoon, either in person or on the hotel reception board.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Copenhagen
This morning we take a panoramic tour of Denmark’s capital – by coach and on foot we see the Little Mermaid, colourful Nyhavn harbour, the exterior of Amalienborg Palace, Town Hall Square and the Tivoli area. You have a free afternoon to keep exploring.
Day 3 - Copenhagen - Jönköping - Vadstena - Stockholm
We depart for Elsinore, the city of Hamlet, where Kronborg Castle commands the waterfront. We then take a short ferry crossing of around 20 minutes to Sweden and travel through landscapes of broad lakes and lush forests to Jönköping, a modern small city on the lake, where you have time to wander and enjoy lunch. We continue to Vadstena, a picturesque lakeside town known for its old houses and a grand 14th century castle later converted into a monastery. We reach Stockholm in the evening – this beautiful Baltic archipelago city is threaded with bridges and ferries, blending history, striking architecture and contemporary life.
Day 4 - Stockholm
Today we set out on a panoramic tour of Stockholm, a capital built across 14 interconnected islands. We explore Gamla Stan – the ‘city between bridges’ – taking in the lively old quarter, the Nobel Prize Museum on Stortorget, the Cathedral and the Royal Palace, and, whenever possible, we pause at the Fjällgatan viewpoint for sweeping city views. Afterwards you have leisure time – you might browse museums and parks, and you can choose to visit City Hall and the Vasa Museum.
Day 5 - Stockholm - Stockholm - Turku Ferry
You have a free day in Stockholm to follow your own interests – in the evening we board a modern overnight ferry to Finland, staying in en suite double cabins.
Day 6 - Stockholm - Turku Ferry - Naantali - Helsinki
We arrive in Finland – you might head to the deck at sunrise to admire the Åland Islands as we glide past hundreds of forested isles. After disembarkation you have time to explore Turku, a city with strong Swedish influence. We continue to nearby Naantali, a picturesque seaside town of wooden houses, then travel on to Helsinki. After lunch we take a regular public ferry to the Suomenlinna Islands, whose imposing fortress guards the maritime approach and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You have time to explore this unique cluster of islands, linked by small pedestrian bridges, and to enjoy the atmosphere, fortress walls and magnificent Baltic views before we return to Helsinki by boat and transfer to the hotel.
Day 7 - Helsinki
You have a free morning in Finland’s capital – you can discover some of the most charming corners of this modern seaside city. Our journey comes to an end, leaving you with wonderful memories. Please check your flight time in case you need an additional night.
