Welcome to the Jungle (L/D) Today, you will journey from Quito to Lago Agrio by bus, and then continue to the entrance of Cuyabeno. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a box lunch and register at the Reserve's office. Here, your naturalist guide will provide you with information about the Reserve, important recommendations, and handy tips. You'll then board a canoe for an exciting initial ride on the Cuyabeno River. As you glide along the river, you'll have your first glimpse of the forest, spotting various bird species such as caciques, orioles, and the prehistoric Hoatzin. Depending on the weather, you may also see a variety of monkeys and other wildlife. In the afternoon, you'll reach the Jamu Lodge, where you can settle into your room and relax. After a short rest, you'll depart the lodge to swim in the lagoon and witness a stunning sunset over Laguna Grande. You'll then return to the lodge for dinner and conclude your first day in the jungle, either unwinding in a hammock or enjoying a drink at the bar.

Cuyabeno Activities (B/L/D)
After breakfast, embark on a 3-4 hour hike through the primary forest, where your guide will share insights about the rainforest and its medicinal plants. During the hike, you'll have the chance to see majestic trees like the Ceibo tree, as well as small insects like ants. Upon returning to camp, you'll enjoy lunch and a short break before an afternoon adventure. You'll witness stunning butterflies and have the opportunity to swim in the lagoon. With luck, you might even spot the beautiful pink river dolphins. As the day ends, enjoy the breathtaking sunset and the serene beauty of the Amazon. Dinner will be served at the lodge's restaurant. In the evening, you have the option to participate in a nocturnal activity, which involves searching for caimans along the riverbanks while canoeing. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for a relaxing night's sleep, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the jungle.

Visit to the Tarapuy Community (B/L/D)
After breakfast, you'll embark on a canoe journey down the river, which takes about an hour, to meet a family from the Tarapuy community. During your visit, you'll have the opportunity to learn how to make Casave, a traditional yuca bread. You can participate in the preparation process and discover how local materials from the forest are used in making this bread. You'll return to the lodge by around two o'clock in the afternoon. Following lunch, you'll have time for a siesta and relaxation. After dinner, there's an option for a nocturnal hike through the primary forest, focusing on observing nighttime insects such as spiders, geckos, and scorpions. It's an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique sounds of the Amazon.

Bird Watching and Transfer to Quito (B)
Start your day early with a bird watching excursion before breakfast. After dining, you'll board motorized canoes and journey back to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve. This return trip provides a final opportunity to observe birds and potentially see animals like monkeys and anacondas. At the Cuyabeno Reserve entrance, you'll board a shared bus that will take you to Lago Agrio. You'll have breakfast and receive a box lunch for the day. From Lago Agrio, a bus will transport you back to Quito. Upon arrival in Quito, a representative will meet you at the bus station and drive you to your accommodation.
