We start the day with an early morning transfer to the airport for an included flight to Aswan. On arrival, we proceed straight to Abu Simbel by road. Here, you will have the chance to enjoy a boat trip on Lake Nasser, providing a remarkable perspective of the area's stunning architecture. Lunch is at a traditional Nubian restaurant, offering you a taste of the local cuisine. Our visit includes exploring the Abu Simbel temples, where colossal statues—up to 20 metres high—are carved into the cliffs by Ramses II in the 12th century BC, devoted to both the god Amon Ra and the Temple of Nefertari for the goddess Hathor. Later, we return to Aswan for an overnight stay at our excellent hotel.
Day 4 - Aswan
On the fourth day, we dedicate our time to exploring Aswan. Your adventures begin with a visit to the city and the Red Granite Quarry, home to the renowned Unfinished Obelisk, where you'll discover the ancient Egyptians' remarkable granite extraction techniques. We'll then continue to the striking Temple of Philae, devoted to the goddess Isis, situated on a quaint island accessible only by boat. Later, experience the serene beauty of the River Nile firsthand on a traditional felucca ride, setting the stage for our journey to the vibrant Nubian Village. Here, among the delightful, colourfully painted houses, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy a meal at a typical restaurant. In the afternoon, we travel by camel for a brief stretch to reach the historic Monastery of Saint Simeon. Originally a large Roman-era monastery, it later transformed into a caravanserai, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. As we pass by, you'll also see the modern Coptic church and the mausoleum of the Aga Khan, though these are not part of our visits today. Day 5 - Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu - Esna - Luxor
Following breakfast, we'll embark on a picturesque journey along the Nile Valley. The scenery is truly captivating, with the Nile winding through lush palm groves and vibrant local communities that are bustling with daily life. Our first stop is the Temple of Kom Ombo, which overlooks the river. This temple is uniquely dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile deity, and Horus, the falcon god. It's a marvel of symmetry, with each half of the temple designed for its respective god. The temple's intricate reliefs and hieroglyphs provide fascinating insights into the daily and mythological narratives of ancient Egypt, and we’ll also explore the Crocodile Museum, where several mummified crocodiles are displayed. Our journey continues to Edfu, where we will visit the Temple of Horus. Considered one of Egypt's best-preserved and most breathtaking ancient structures, this temple was built over 2,300 years ago, honouring Horus, the sky god. Lunch is included during our day of exploration. We then make our way to Esna, home to one of the few Egyptian temples that still retain their original roof, offering a rare glimpse into ancient architectural wonders and original colours. Buried under sediment from the Nile for centuries, the temple was uncovered in the 19th century and largely protected from erosion and decay. In Esna, we'll also observe the restored caravanserai and the floodgates on the Nile from the outside. Our final drive brings us to Luxor, where we'll arrive in the late afternoon, ready to settle in for the night at our hotel.

On our day in Luxor, we will explore one of the world's most remarkable ancient sites. Starting early from our hotel, we'll take a private boat across the Nile River, enjoying the tranquillity and stunning views of the morning as we head to the west bank. Our first stop is the Valley of the Artisans at Deir el-Medina, a lesser-known treasure where the builders and craftsmen who constructed the royal tombs once lived. We'll pause at the Colossi of Memnon, two towering statues of Amenhotep III, before heading to the Valley of the Queens. Here, we'll find the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, celebrating one of history's first female pharaohs.
