Itinerary
Day 1 - Tallinn
Welcome to Tallinn – we transfer you to the hotel, then you have free time. In the afternoon you receive information from our team, either in person or via the notice board at hotel reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Tallinn
Estonia’s capital has preserved its medieval heart. We take a panoramic tour of Tallinn – its walls, churches, squares and cobbled streets rich with history – and the afternoon is free for you.
Day 3 - Tallinn - Parnu - Turaida - Sigulda - Salaspils - Riga
We travel through forests and plains to reach Parnu, a popular seaside resort. We continue into Latvia for an included lunch, then visit medieval Turaida Castle – admission included – set within a large park with sculptures. We take a walk in Sigulda amid beautiful landscapes and pause at the Salaspils Memorial, on the site of a former camp from the Nazi period and since 1967 one of the largest monumental complexes in Europe commemorating the victims of this regime. We arrive in Riga in the evening.
Day 4 - Riga
We enjoy an included panoramic tour of Riga, the most populous city in the Baltic states, where traces of the Soviet era remain. Celebrated for its cultural centre, medieval Old Town and striking Art Nouveau architecture, Riga invites exploration – the afternoon is free for you.
Day 5 - Riga - Rundale - Vilnius
We depart early for Lithuania, stopping first at Baroque Rundale Palace, designed by the same architect as St Petersburg’s Hermitage. We cross the border to visit the Hill of Crosses, where thousands of crosses of every size reflect a strong Catholic tradition, and we include lunch along the route. We then visit Trakai, a gorgeous island castle set in a lake near Vilnius, and finish the day in the capital. Note – depending on daylight, the visit to Trakai may take place on Wednesday after exploring the city.
Day 6 - Vilnius
We begin with a panoramic tour of Vilnius, the city of seven hills, often compared to Rome. We show you its Baroque churches, historic walls, grand castle, bustling central shopping streets and some 1,200 medieval houses. The afternoon is free for you.
Day 7 - Vilnius - Grutas Park - Augustów - Warsaw
We continue into Poland. Our first stop is Grutas Park – also known as Stalin’s World – which features 86 statues from the Soviet era. We then stop for lunch in the charming lakeside town of Augustów before heading towards central Poland, arriving in Warsaw by the end of the day.
Day 8 - Warsaw - Poznan
In the morning we enjoy a panoramic tour of Warsaw with a local guide – a city of nearly two million, political and economic hub, both classic and modern, traditional and cosmopolitan, continually reborn. We explore the charming Old Town, with its historic buildings, Royal Palace and cobbled streets, beautifully restored after destruction in the Second World War and now a World Heritage Site. We also see the iconic Palace of Culture, reflect at the site of what was once the largest Jewish ghetto in Europe, and stroll through Lazienkowski Park, home to the Chopin Monument. At around 2:30 pm, after time for a walk and lunch, we set off for Pomerania and continue to Poznan – you have some time to explore.
Day 9 - Poznan - Berlin
We depart early from Poznan, cross the vast plains into Germany and arrive in Berlin at around 11:30 am.
Day 10 - Berlin
We immerse ourselves in Berlin’s culture on a guided tour. From the coach we see Museum Island, the Television Tower, major shopping streets, the old cathedral damaged in the Second World War, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and broad parks. We stop to visit the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum – two powerful places that recall Germany’s challenging twentieth century history. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace, and in the early evening we provide a transfer to the lively Kantstrasse area.
Day 11 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
We journey through forests to Dresden, celebrated for its exceptional architectural and artistic heritage. You have time to explore some of its impressive palaces and choose a spot for lunch. Later we depart for the Czech Republic, arriving in Prague, and head to the Old Town Square – lively and full of energy – for your first taste of the city, with numerous restaurants offering a range of international cuisines including Czech, Chinese, Indian and Italian. Afterwards we return to the hotel.
Day 12 - Prague
Today we visit Prague, the Baroque jewel of Europe. With our local guide we take an informative panoramic tour of the city’s outstanding monuments, including a visit to Prague Castle – admission included – then enjoy an included boat ride on the Vltava. In the afternoon you have free time to explore on your own.
Day 13 - Prague
After breakfast our journey ends – leaving you with wonderful lasting memories.
