Itinerary
Day 1 - Paris - Noyers-sur-Serein - Beaune - Dijon
Our adventure begins as we set off from Paris, heading east through the idyllic landscapes of Burgundy. Our first visit is to Noyers-sur-Serein, renowned as one of France's most picturesque towns. Here, you’ll meander through narrow lanes lined with stone and half-timbered houses, explore a charming central square, and admire historic town walls. We then proceed to Beaune, Burgundy's wine capital. You’ll have the chance to enjoy lunch at your leisure and perhaps take a leisurely stroll. We recommend visiting the Hospices of Beaune, a 15th-century medieval hospital that once served the impoverished. As our day unfolds, we journey to Dijon, the vibrant regional capital. In Dijon, explore lively streets with magnificent medieval and Renaissance architecture, including the stunning Palace of the Dukes. Tonight, we will be staying in Dijon. Please note, different travellers may join or leave our tour along the way, while ensuring our group size remains comfortable and intimate. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Dijon - Abbey of Fontenay - Semur-en-Auxois - Vezelay - Paris
We set off from Dijon towards the historic Fontenay Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admission is included for you to explore this remarkable Cistercian centre. Our journey then takes us to Semur-en-Auxois, a charming medieval town encircled by ancient fortifications. Still nestled within the Burgundy region, we will pause for a lunch break, allowing you the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely walk around Vézelay. This enchanting village is renowned for its splendid basilica, which has historically served as a starting point for the Way of St. James pilgrimage. In the afternoon, we continue our onward journey, arriving in Paris by the evening.
