Day 1 - Berlin
Welcome to Berlin – we arrange your transfer to the hotel, after which you have free time to settle in. In the afternoon you receive practical information, either in person or via the noticeboard at reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Berlin
We explore Berlin on a guided panoramic tour of Germany’s capital – the historic centre, Museum Island, the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, lively shopping streets and graceful parks. We also pause at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, and you may choose an optional excursion to Potsdam with its splendid palaces.
Day 3 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
We travel through forested landscapes to Dresden, famed for its architecture and art – you have time to discover its grand palaces and find lunch. Later we continue to the Czech Republic and arrive in Prague, heading straight to Old Town Square for a lively first taste of the city before we return to the hotel – you can dine at one of the many local or international restaurants.
Day 4 - Prague
We uncover Prague, a Baroque jewel, on a panoramic tour with a local guide, taking in its landmark sights. We visit Prague Castle – admission included – then enjoy an included boat ride on the Vltava, with the afternoon free for you to explore at your own pace.
Day 5 - Prague - Munich - Innsbruck
We depart early for Bavaria, reaching Munich around midday – you have time to wander the historic centre and choose a spot for lunch. In the afternoon we continue into Austria to Innsbruck, capital of Tyrol, where you have time to explore – the Old Town around the Golden Roof is especially atmospheric in the evening.
Day 6 - Innsbruck - Zurich
We begin with a visit to the Swarovski Museum, celebrated for its crystal creations – we explore the gardens and learn about the creative process. You then have free time before we drive to Zurich through beautiful Tyrolean scenery, and in the evening you can enjoy the historic centre by the lake, with plenty of dining options.
Day 7 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today brings soaring mountains and serene lakes in the Interlaken region – our first stop is Grindelwald for a coffee, then we take the cable car up the mountain. A short path leads to a suspended bridge with thrilling glacier views for those who wish to cross, and lunch on the mountain is included; we then descend and continue to Lucerne, where you have time to explore before we return to Zurich – the guide may also offer an optional full–day excursion to Mount Titlis with its rotating cable car and breathtaking glacier and Alpine views.
Day 8 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We leave Zurich early, crossing the Alps into Switzerland’s Italian–speaking region – our first stop is Bellinzona, renowned for its three medieval castles, where you have free time to wander the charming centre. We then enter Italy and pause in Como for lunch, famed for lakeside gardens and a striking cathedral, before continuing to Milan where our guide leads us to Piazza del Duomo and you have time to stroll before we transfer to the hotel.
Day 9 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
We continue to Pisa, boarding a small tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli – you have time to admire this magnificent complex, including the celebrated Leaning Tower. Afterwards we travel on to Rome, arriving later in the day.
Day 10 - Rome
This morning we take a three–hour guided tour of the Eternal City – a walking exploration of Imperial Rome combined with a panoramic drive. We see the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius and Castel Sant’Angelo; the tour ends at Vatican City around 11:00. Afterwards, the guide may offer an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, and in the evening we include a transfer to Trastevere – return to the hotel is around 20:30.
Day 11 - Rome
After breakfast our journey concludes – leaving you with wonderful memories.
