Itinerary
Day 1 - Whale Fjord
We pick up in Reykjavik in the morning and set off with your guide on a scenic drive around Hvalfjörður - Whale Fjord. As we follow the shoreline, we pause for sweeping views of mountains, sea cliffs and tranquil waters. You can take short coastal walks at quiet spots along the way.
At the head of the fjord, we explore Botnsdalur Valley - a serene stretch of meadows, rivers and surrounding peaks that marks the starting point for the Glymur trail. We then hike to Glymur, Iceland's second tallest waterfall at 198 metres, along a rewarding route with views over the fjord, a narrow canyon and a scenic river. The trail passes through caves and includes river crossings for a fully immersive experience of Icelandic nature.
In the evening, we unwind at the Wine School by the Lake, where you can enjoy wines and other beverages beneath the Midnight Sun or the Northern Lights, depending on the season. We stay overnight in a luxury boutique hotel by the fjord.
Day 2 - Geothermal Pools & Icelandic Rural Life
We begin the day at Hvammsvik Resort and Spa, unwinding in eight geothermal pools of varying temperatures - all sourced directly from the fjord - with wide-open views across the water. For an invigorating contrast, you can take a quick dip in the cold Atlantic. You can also join a kayaking or paddle-boarding session or simply stroll the tranquil shoreline.
We pause for lunch at the on-site bistro, where local Icelandic dishes showcase fresh, seasonal, coastal flavours.
In the afternoon, we visit Bjarteyjarsandur Family Farm to meet the farmers and gain an insight into Icelandic rural life. Depending on the time of year, you can take part in seasonal activities such as sheep shearing or mussel picking, and learn about their sustainably produced meats, organic vegetables and coastal delicacies.
We return to Reykjavik in the early evening and drop you at your hotel (accommodation is not included tonight). Throughout the tour, a professional photographer is your guide - you'll also receive an edited photo package to remember the journey.
