Itinerary
Day 1 - Reykjavik
After landing at Keflavik International Airport, make your way to your accommodation in Reykjavik - Iceland's vibrant capital. For a smooth arrival, you can add a Flybus transfer or a private door-to-door service through us for an additional fee.
Once checked in, you have time to relax and start getting a feel for the city at your own pace.
Day 2 - Snaefellsnes Peninsula Day Trip
Early pickup from your hotel between 07:30-08:00 for a full-day tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula - often called Iceland in Miniature - before we return to your Reykjavik hotel in the evening. We travel from Reykjavik to Borgarnes and on to Ytri Tunga Beach, a rare golden-sand shoreline known for its resident seals. We continue to Arnarstapi to admire dramatic sea cliffs, rock arches and busy birdlife, then explore the black-pebble beach of Djupalonssandur and the Holaholar volcanic craters - a quieter spot off the main route. We round off the day in the fishing village of Ólafsvik before visiting the iconic Kirkjufell and nearby Kirkjufellsfoss, one of Iceland's most photographed combinations of mountain and waterfall.
Day 3 - Journey to Iceland's North
After breakfast, we travel north through the Hvalfjörður Tunnel to Borgarnes, continuing to Skagafjörður - widely known as the heartland of the Icelandic horse and the only region where horses outnumber people. We stop at the Glaumbaer Museum, a traditional turf farmhouse that offers a clear window into Iceland's rural heritage, then cross the Öxnadalsheiði plateau with broad mountain views on our way to Akureyri, often called the capital of North Iceland.
In the evening, you can opt to unwind at Forest Lagoon - a tranquil geothermal spa set among trees - for an additional cost. Overnight in Akureyri.
Day 4 - Lakes, Waterfalls & Lava Formations
Today we explore the volcanic landscapes around Lake Mývatn, a shallow lake noted for its birdlife and geothermal activity. We begin at Goðafoss - the Waterfall of the Gods - then continue to the lava formations of Dimmuborgir and walk among the pseudocraters at Skutustaðagigar. We visit Grjotagja lava cave with its naturally heated spring before taking in the steaming vents and bubbling mud pools of Namaskarð. Turning east, we pause at Dettifoss - one of Europe's most powerful waterfalls - then cross the Möðrudalsöraefi highland and follow Jökuldalur Valley to Egilsstaðir for the night.
Day 5 - East Fjords & Optional Glacier Jeep Excursion
We depart Egilsstaðir and follow the dramatic coastline of the East Fjords, a remote region of narrow inlets, steep mountains and small fishing villages largely untouched by mass tourism. This is the only part of Iceland where wild reindeer roam, and it is also known for clear lakes and historic farms. In summer the East often enjoys some of the country's best weather - in winter, atmospheric fog can add a mysterious mood.
In the afternoon, you can choose to join an optional Glacier Jeep Adventure on Vatnajökull - Europe's largest glacier. This 3-4 hour excursion travels by modified super jeep and includes the chance to walk on snow and take in sweeping glacier views. An additional cost applies and a minimum of four participants is required.
We spend the night in Höfn, a harbour town renowned for its lobster and expansive scenery.
Day 6 - Jokulsarlon, Seljalandsfoss & Skogafoss
We follow the spectacular southeast coast to Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, where we join an amphibian boat tour among the icebergs calving from Breiðamerkurjökull.
Just across the road is Diamond Beach, where crystal ice rests on black volcanic sand - a striking contrast and a superb photo opportunity. Continuing through Vatnajökull National Park, we pass Hvannadalshnukur - Iceland's highest peak at 2,119 metres - then cross the vast Eldhraun lava fields and the Mýrdalssandur black glacial plains.
In Vik, we explore the Reynisfjara black sand beach with its basalt columns and, in summer, puffin activity on the cliffs, before viewing the Dyrholaey sea arch. We finish the day at two southern icons: Skogafoss, a towering 60 metre cascade, and Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the curtain of water for a unique perspective - waterproofs recommended. Overnight in the Selfoss area.
Day 7 - The Golden Circle, Optional Blue Lagoon & Return to Reykjavik
We spend the day on the Golden Circle - Iceland's classic route. We begin at Gullfoss, a powerful two tier waterfall plunging into a rugged canyon, then continue to the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes. We then explore Þingvellir National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart - and note the Alþingi, one of the world's oldest parliaments, established in AD 930.
We return to Reykjavik for the final night. In the afternoon, you can join an optional visit to the Blue Lagoon for an extra cost, which includes return transfer, entrance, a Silica Mud Mask, towel and a drink - an ideal way to unwind after your journey around Iceland.
Day 8 - Reykjavik
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Reykjavik - then, depending on your flight time, make your way to Keflavik International Airport. You can book a Flybus shuttle or a private door to door transfer through us for convenience.
