Delhi to Amritsar Express

Delhi – Amritsar (Train No. 12029 Swarna Shatabdi Express, 07:20 – 13:45). We pick you up early from your Delhi hotel and transfer to the station to board the Swarna Shatabdi Express to Amritsar.

On arrival, our representative meets you and transfers you to your hotel. There is time to relax and freshen up before we drive to the Wagah border for the Beating Retreat – a choreographed flag lowering conducted by Indian and Pakistani border forces. Later, we visit the Golden Temple, the spiritual centre of Sikhism, to see its gilded facade illuminated over the sacred Sarovar. We join pilgrims circling the holy pool and take part in the communal langar, a free vegetarian meal served to all. We then return to your hotel for the night. Overnight at the hotel in Amritsar.

Amritsar – Delhi (Train No. 12030 Swarna Shatabdi, 1650/2305 hr). After breakfast, we return to the Golden Temple to walk the serene Sarovar and observe the cleansing ritual of washing hands and feet before entering the sanctum.

We then ascend the Clock Tower to visit the central Sikh Museum. Our exploration continues at the Durgiana Temple, followed by the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum to view artefacts from his era. We proceed to Gobindgarh Fort to explore its ramparts and passages and witness scheduled cultural performances and a light and sound show. In the evening, we take an auto rickshaw ride through the old market – you can chat with vendors, sample street food or pick up traditional handicrafts and souvenirs if you wish.

Later, we transfer you to the railway station for the Swarna Shatabdi back to Delhi. On arrival, our representative meets you at the station and arranges your transfer to your hotel.
