Itinerary
Day 1 - Delhi
On arrival in Delhi – once airport formalities are complete – we meet our local representative who welcomes us to the capital, then transfer to our city hotel. You settle in and get ready for the journey ahead.
Day 2 - Delhi
We take in New Delhi’s highlights – India Gate, the grand government quarter and Humayun’s Tomb – then ride the metro from Connaught Place to Old Delhi. We weave through the markets of Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar, before a cycle rickshaw carries us along the narrow lanes where shops, temples and busy stalls reveal daily life at close quarters.
Day 3 - Delhi - Agra
We leave Delhi for Agra, driving through rural Uttar Pradesh past towns and fields on our way to the city of the Taj. At Sheroes Hangout Café – run by survivors of acid attacks – we share an included lunch that supports this inspiring community. We join a guided heritage walk through Kachhpura village across the Yamuna, learning about local homes and small industries, then wander Mehtab Bagh for atmospheric sunset views of the Taj Mahal across the river.
Day 4 - Agra - Dholpur
At dawn we visit the Taj Mahal, when the light is soft and the crowds thinner, and hear the moving story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal as we admire the delicate marble inlay. We then call at a local school in Agra for a simple cultural exchange, observing everyday classroom life. Later we continue to Dholpur, where quieter rural rhythms unfold, and we stroll through markets and residential lanes for an authentic glimpse of village life.
Day 5 - Dholpur - Abhaneri - Ranthambore
We travel towards Abhaneri through a landscape of farms and small towns, stopping at Chand Baori to admire the mesmerising geometry and sheer scale of one of India’s largest stepwells. We continue to Ranthambore National Park, noted for its tiger population and rich wildlife, arriving at our lodge amid forested terrain.
Day 6 - Ranthambore
We set out at first light – the coolest hours and often the most rewarding for sightings. Travelling by shared canter, we explore the park in search of Bengal tigers and other wildlife.
Day 7 - Ranthambore - Jaipur
We drive to Jaipur – Rajasthan’s colourful capital – passing rural villages and farmland before reaching the city. We explore Amber Fort, the hilltop palace overlooking Jaipur, wandering its ornate courtyards and grand halls of marble and sandstone.
Day 8 - Jaipur
We delve into Jaipur, visiting Jantar Mantar and the City Palace complex. We watch artisans cut and polish gemstones using traditional methods, then join a block printing workshop to try stamping simple designs onto fabric with carved wooden blocks. The day concludes with an evening meal hosted by a local family, where we learn about home cooking traditions – a warm window onto daily life and regional cuisine.
Day 9 - Jaipur - Delhi - Delhi
We return by road to Delhi, crossing the northern plains from Rajasthan to the capital. On arrival you have free time to rest, then we meet our representative for a briefing on the days ahead.
Day 10 - Delhi
You have free time in Delhi to relax before departure. We then meet our local representative for a final briefing, and transfer to Delhi Airport in good time for your international flight.
