Itinerary
Day 1 - Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a representative will meet you and transfer you to your chosen hotel in Nairobi. The afternoon is yours to relax and settle in—perhaps enjoy the hotel’s facilities or explore the city at your own pace. Overnight in Nairobi.
Day 2 - Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve
After an early breakfast, we set off northwards, passing near Thika and travelling through stunning landscapes marked by rushing mountain streams and fields of tea and coffee. Beyond Nanyuki, the journey continues to Isiolo, the last significant stop before entering Kenya’s remote northern frontier. From Isiolo, it’s a short drive to Samburu, where we arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we head out on a game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at Samburu.
Day 3 - Samburu County
We begin the day with an early morning game drive, offering the chance to see Samburu’s distinctive wildlife in the cool of the day. This reserve is known for species rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, including reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras and Beisa oryx. The landscape is semi-arid, featuring acacia trees, open savannah and the Ewaso Ng’iro River, creating a unique setting for wildlife viewing. Birdwatchers will appreciate the over 450 species recorded here, such as the Somali ostrich, vulturine guinea fowl and various raptors. After the game drive, we return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by some time to relax by the pool or on the terrace overlooking the river. After lunch, we set out on another game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight is at the lodge in Samburu.
Day 4 - Nyahururu
Leaving Samburu behind, we travel south through Isiolo, crossing the northern foothills of Mount Kenya until reaching Nanyuki. From there, we head north-west to Nyahururu, situated near the equator and known for Nyahururu Falls—a striking 74-metre waterfall on the Ewaso Nyiro River. We pause at the equator for a photo opportunity before continuing to your hotel close to the falls. After lunch, we take a guided walk around the hotel grounds, followed by a stroll to the falls and a visit to the nearby Hippo Pools. We return to the lodge in the late afternoon for an overnight stay.
Day 5 - Nyahururu - Sulmac Village
After an early breakfast, we drive south to the stunning Lake Nakuru National Park. Upon arrival, we embark on a game drive, followed by lunch at a nearby lodge. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its remarkable birdlife, including seasonal flocks of flamingoes, and is home to both black and white rhinos as well as the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. After lunch, we continue game viewing en route to the park gate before travelling to Naivasha. Arriving in the late afternoon, you will check in before setting out on a one-hour boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Overnight accommodation is in Lake Naivasha.
Day 6 - Kenya
After an early breakfast, leave Lake Naivasha and begin the drive to the Maasai Mara. You will ascend over the Mau Escarpment before heading south towards Narok, the gateway to the Maasai Mara and the administrative centre of this region. The journey takes you through Kenya’s fertile “breadbasket,” with vast fields of wheat and barley, arriving at the Mara in time for lunch. After a restful siesta, we set out on an afternoon game drive, returning to camp as the sun sets. Overnight in the Maasai Mara.
Day 7 - Kenya
After an early breakfast, we set out for a morning game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This world-renowned park is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros—as well as numerous antelope, gazelle and wildebeest species. We return to the lodge for lunch and some downtime, allowing you to rest or enjoy the surroundings. In the afternoon, we head out again for another game drive, returning to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay in the Maasai Mara.
Day 8 - Kenya
After an early breakfast, we set out for a full day of game drives in the Maasai Mara. You will have the chance to explore the reserve’s diverse wildlife during both morning and afternoon excursions. Lunch and dinner are served at the lodge, where you can relax between outings. Overnight in the Maasai Mara.
Day 9 - Nairobi
After breakfast, we leave the Maasai Mara, travelling across expansive wheat and barley farms to Narok, the district headquarters of this region. From there, we cross the vast Rift Valley plains before ascending the rift escarpment via a road constructed by Italian prisoners during the Second World War. We arrive in Nairobi around midday, where you will be transferred either to the airport or to your hotel—Panari or Ole Sereni—for onward travel arrangements.
