Day 2 - Nairobi - Ol Tukai
After a leisurely breakfast, we depart Nairobi with a picnic lunch and drive southeast towards Amboseli. We enjoy game viewing en route and arrive at the lodge as the sun sets. The park spans salt flats, fragile grassland, acacia woodland and swamp, supporting prolific birdlife and a wide range of wildlife, including rhino, giraffe, gazelle, lion, cheetah and leopard. All of this unfolds beneath Mount Kilimanjaro. We stay at Amboseli Serena Lodge, set among acacia trees and landscaped gardens. Its 96 comfortable rooms are decorated in an African motif and echo the style of Maasai manyattas. In the late afternoon and evening, you can relax on the lounge terrace overlooking the gardens, pool and paths, and watch wildebeest, antelope, elephant and other wildlife come to graze. We dine at the lodge this evening.Overnight in Amboseli.
Day 3 - Mombasa
After an early breakfast we head out on a morning game drive. You then have some time at leisure at the lodge before we enjoy lunch. In the afternoon we depart for Tsavo West, crossing the Shetani lava flow – a harsh, lunar‑like landscape created by eruptions from the nearby Chyulu Hills. We continue through scrub thorn and acacia into Tsavo West National Park – which, together with Tsavo East, forms Kenya’s largest park – with good chances of spotting wildlife en route, including the distinctive gerenuk. We arrive at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, set in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro and overlooking its own waterhole visited by elephants, buffalo and a variety of plains game. Among the first lodges to be built in a national park, this classic stone–built property features a thatched central dining area, a rock–built bar and a viewing terrace above the waterhole – ideally placed for unhurried game‑watching. We end the day with dinner at the lodge. Overnight in Tsavo West.
Day 4 - Reykjavik
After breakfast, we head out for a game drive in Tsavo West and visit Mzima Springs, where a viewing chamber just below the waterline offers a fascinating look at the park’s waterborne life. We return to the lodge for lunch, then depart Tsavo West and continue to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, arriving at sunset for check in at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge. The lodge sits in the heart of this private sanctuary – adjacent to Tsavo West National Park – with rooms arranged in two storey blocks linked by elevated walkways overlooking a salt lick and a small waterhole that is floodlit at night. Rooms offer modern comforts, while the restaurant, bar and main balconies face the busy waterhole and salt lick. An underground hide allows close yet safe wildlife viewing. We end the day with dinner at the lodge. Overnight in Taita Hills.
