Male - Gan. Arrive at Male International Airport, where you’ll be met by your local guide and transferred by domestic flight to Gan Island in Laamu Atoll. From there, it’s a short transfer to your guesthouse base for the week. Once settled in, wander down to the beach for your first swim in the Indian Ocean or simply relax and explore the guesthouse facilities.
Please note:We strongly recommend you bring your own mask and snorkel on this tour, both for hygiene reasons and to ensure a proper fit.
After breakfast, head out for a guided sea kayaking adventure exploring the eastern side of the atoll. You’ll be shown how to handle your kayak before paddling out to secluded sandbanks and uninhabited islands.
Take time to snorkel among vibrant coral reefs and discover the rich marine life of the Maldives. A picnic lunch is served during the excursion, with time to sunbathe before kayaking back to Gan. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure – snorkel off the beach, unwind by the plunge pool, or stroll along the shoreline.
Enjoy a slow morning – snorkel the house reef, lounge on the sand, or simply take in the peaceful garden surroundings. After lunch, explore Gan by jeep with your guide. Visit historic sites, a local vegetable farm, and even a fish factory, gaining insight into island life and culture. You’ll also stop at a local café to sample traditional hedhika – Maldivian savoury and sweet snacks served with hot black tea.
Today is your chance to try scuba diving. Beginners can join a Discover Scuba Diving experience, with two instructor-led dives from the shore. Certified divers can head out by boat to explore untouched dive sites around the atoll. Prefer to stay on the surface? A guided snorkelling tour offers equally vibrant encounters with marine life.
This morning, cycle through the connected islands of Gan, Fonadhoo, Kadhdhoo and Maandhoo via the palm-lined Link Road – the longest stretch of road in the Maldives. Break for lunch at a local café and enjoy a slower afternoon learning about the culture and day-to-day life of these island communities. Finish the ride with a refreshing coconut, known locally as kurumba.
Spend the day entirely at your own pace. Lounge on the beach, snorkel, or revisit a favourite watersport. Optional diving trips can be arranged for certified divers, and a visit to the nearby Six Senses resort may also be possible (subject to availability). Later in the day, you may wish to join a local beach clean initiative and cool off with a swim and a fresh coconut in hand.
After breakfast, travel by boat to a pristine uninhabited island. Here you’ll spend a relaxed day snorkelling in crystal-clear waters, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a picnic lunch in true castaway style before returning to Gan in the afternoon.
Gan - Male. After one final breakfast, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight back to Male, in time for your onward journey.
