Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Puerto Maldonado

Puerto Maldonado - Amazon Rainforest. Once you have arrived at Padre Aldamis Airport in Puerto Maldonado, you will be met and taken to our office to repack only the essentials for your jungle adventure.
We then travel for about an hour along the Madre de Dios River to reach Amazon Planet Lodge. Check-in is from 1.00 pm, and we will receive a fruit drink when checking in before settling into our bungalows, where your bags will be delivered. You have a short break to relax before we begin our activities.
At 3.45 pm, we set out on a guided walk to explore the surrounding rainforest. As evening falls, we board the boat at 6.30 pm for a night cruise along the river, watching for spectacled caimans and possibly capybaras.
We end the day with dinner at 7.30 pm, with Amazonian cocktails available at the bar.
Please note: Pack only a backpack or small suitcase with the essentials for your stay at the lodge. Travel bags are available to borrow, and a secure storage area is provided for anything you leave behind. The lodge runs on solar power, so please save energy by switching off lights and the fan when you are not in the room and before going to sleep. Avoid leaving the fan on all night, as this may deplete the power supply for you and other guests the following day.
Day 2 - Jungle Walk & Visit to Taricaya Reserve

This morning, we set out at 8.30 am on a forest walk towards the Taricaya Volunteers Lodge and Research Center. Here we visit the Taricaya Wildlife Rescue Center, where we see animals such as macaws, toucans, spider and howler monkeys, jaguarondi, bush dogs, river turtles, tortoises, and spectacled bears rescued from a circus.
As this is a rescue centre rather than a zoo, many animals are rehabilitated for release, while others remain under long-term care. We also learn about Taricaya’s turtle protection project and, depending on the season, may see marked nests. After sunset at a nearby tower, we walk back through the forest to the lodge.
By 1 pm, we will enjoy lunch, and then you will have time to unwind in the hammock area, enjoy a cocktail at the Tunche bar, or relax in your bungalow. We then continue with the Taricaya Canopy Walkway, heading into primary forest to reach a platform 15 metres high. From here, we cross a 90-metre suspension bridge to a canopy viewpoint 45 metres above the ground, offering excellent opportunities to spot macaws, parrots, and toucans, along with sunset over the treetops
Around 6 pm, we take a short night walk to observe nocturnal wildlife before returning to the lodge for a conservation talk and videos about ongoing work in the reserve. We will then enjoy dinner at the lodge, you will also have the chance to try Amazonian cocktails at the bar.
Day 3 - Departure from Puertyo Maldonado
Amazon Rainforest - Puerto Maldonado. After breakfast, we check out from our bungalows at 7.00 am. Your bags should be packed and ready for our housekeeping team to collect and take to the boat, so make sure you have checked your room for any belongings.
At 8.00 am, we board the boat for the return journey upriver to the city, giving you a final chance to enjoy the rainforest scenery.
We reach our office or AP House at around 9.30 am, where you will be transferred to the airport, marking the end of our services.
