Day 1 - Busan
Welcome to Korea! Upon your arrival in Busan, you'll be seamlessly transferred to your hotel. Once settled, you can enjoy some leisure time to explore at your own pace or simply relax. Later in the afternoon, we'll provide you with all the essential details to kickstart your adventure through this fascinating land. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Busan
In the morning, we will depart from Busan to reach Haedong Yonggung, a 14th-century Buddhist temple beautifully situated by the seaside. We will then return to Busan to visit the UN Memorial Cemetery, which serves as the final resting place for people from various nations. Our itinerary continues with a visit to Korea’s largest fish market, conveniently located by Nampo Port, followed by a delicious lunch. After lunch, we'll take a leisurely stroll to Yongdusan Park, home to the impressive 120-metre pagoda. Later, we'll make our way to Songdo Beach, where you have the opportunity to ride Korea's first marine cable car (ticket included, weather permitting) and enjoy the breathtaking views over the bay. Our adventure continues to the Gamcheon Culture Village, known for its vibrant and colourful buildings, intricate alleyways, art galleries, pottery workshops, and charming cafes. We will then return to Busan for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Busan - Seokguram - Bulguksa - Gyeongju - Daegu
Today, we’ll set off for a visit to the Seokguram Grotto, an 8th-century Buddhist site set on the serene slopes of Tohamsan Mountain. This significant site showcases the artistry of ancient Korea and offers a glimpse into its spiritual heritage. After exploring the grotto, we make our way to Bulguksa Temple, renowned for its architectural beauty and cultural significance, making it one of Korea’s most treasured temples.Our next stop is Gyeongju—a city that holds the title of Korea’s longest-serving capital, having been at the heart of the nation for nearly 1,000 years. While there, you’ll have the opportunity to capture the graceful beauty of the wooden Woljeonggyo Bridge, which spans the banks of the Namcheon River. Lunch will be provided, giving you the chance to enjoy Korean cuisine as we pause from our exploration.Following lunch, we’ll explore Tumuli Park, famous for its ancient burial mounds belonging to the Silla Kingdom, over 1,500 years old. Step into one of these tombs and transport yourself to a time long past. Our journey continues with a leisurely walk to Cheomsongdae, the oldest astronomical observatory in East Asia, which provides yet another fascinating glimpse into Korea’s rich history. Our travels then take us to Daegu, Korea’s fourth-largest city, where we’ll conclude the day with a visit to Dongsan Cheongna Hill—an area once home to Christian missionaries. Before leaving, we’ll stroll along Dongseong-ro, the city's bustling street filled with trendy shops and charming cafes. Overnight accommodation awaits us in Daegu.
Day 4 - Daegu - Andong - Hahoe - Seoul
We begin our day in Daegu with a visit to the Yangnyeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine, celebrated for its rich history of medicinal herbs. Strolling through the Herbal Medicine Market, you'll find a variety of herbal shops known for their high-quality products, particularly ginseng. Our journey then takes us north to Andong, where we explore the outskirts of the traditional Hahoe Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll have the opportunity to wander through its rural landscapes, seemingly untouched by time. We'll also visit the Hahoe Mask Museum, which displays an intriguing collection of masks from around the world, used in various cultural and religious ceremonies. Lunch is included at a local eatery. Continuing our exploration, we visit the serene Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy, founded in the 16th century, which is set amongst idyllic landscapes along a river.In the evening, we arrive in Seoul. Should the weather be favourable, we'll pause at the Banpo Bridge, where you can witness the dazzling rainbow fountain show that illuminates the night. We then retire for an overnight stay in Seoul. Please note that the visit to Banpo Bridge is contingent on the weather conditions.
Day 5 - Seoul
Today, we'll make an early start to explore the historic Cheorwon region and its section of the DMZ, the Demilitarized Zone that serves as the barrier between North and South Korea. Our adventure begins with a fascinating tour of the Second Tunnel, a covert passage constructed by North Korea and uncovered in 1975. We'll continue to the Cheorwon Peace Observatory, which offers sweeping vistas of the DMZ and glimpses of the initial villages beyond the northern frontier. Inside, you'll find a small museum dedicated to the Korean War, providing insightful historical context.Our journey proceeds to the abandoned Woljeong-ri railway station, a poignant reminder of the region's complex past. We will visit the Baek Ma Battle Memorial, which pays homage to the valiant efforts of a French UN battalion during the conflict. Lunch will be included. As our day unfolds, we'll make a stop at a local producer of Makgeolli, allowing us to learn about this traditional Korean rice liquor and perhaps savour a taste.In the evening, we'll return to Seoul, where we'll make our way to the modern City Hall, notable for its striking architecture, reminiscent of a tsunami wave. Across from City Hall, Deoksugung Palace stands elegantly illuminated at night, showcasing a harmonious blend of South Korea’s historical and contemporary facets. From here, we'll stroll towards the Myeongdong district, the nation’s largest hub of shopping and entertainment, aptly named "bright town." Dinner will be served at a local restaurant, after which we’ll take advantage of Seoul's efficient metro system to return to our hotel. Don't forget your passport for today's excursion, as it is required for entry into the DMZ, which remains a military zone and may close at short notice. If this occurs, an alternative itinerary will be provided. Enjoy your overnight accommodation in the vibrant capital.
Day 6 - Seoul
Our sixth day is dedicated to exploring the vibrant city of Seoul over the course of an immersive five-hour tour. We begin with a visit to Changdeokgung Palace, an esteemed UNESCO World Heritage Site that rests within a picturesque park and encompasses an array of historic palatial buildings. After this, we will pass by Bukchon Hanok Village, a neighbourhood that offers a glimpse into traditional Korean architecture with its charming small homes.Our journey continues as we delve into Korea's past at the War Memorial of Korea. This remarkable museum provides deep insights into the conflicts that have defined the nation’s history, particularly highlighting the Korean War, where soldiers from numerous nations fought under the United Nations' banner. Lunch is included and will be enjoyed at a local restaurant, offering a taste of the region’s cuisine.Next, we venture into the lively Gangnam District, famed for its bustling shopping centres and entertainment hotspots. Our day concludes at the impressive Lotte World Tower, a skyscraper soaring 550 metres into the Seoul skyline. Here, you’ll have free time to either ascend the tower (please note that the ticket is not included) or explore the nearby park and luxury shopping areas at your leisure. Afterwards, we will return to the hotel, where you can enjoy the remainder of the day at your own pace.
Day 7 - Seoul
Following breakfast, our tour concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of your time in Korea.
