Set off from Madrid and finish in Barcelona on this 10 day journey through Andalusia, Aragon and Catalonia – a relaxed mix of headline sights and local flavour. You’ll zip by high speed train to Córdoba for the Mosque–Cathedral and Jewish Quarter, taste olive oil in Baena, and marvel at Granada’s Alhambra. Cruise the Costa Tropical to white villages. Explore Setenil and Ronda’s gorge, Jerez’s horses and a sherry bodega, then boat to Cádiz. Seville brings its cathedral, Giralda and a river cruise – plus Italica. Head to Zaragoza for Goya and Aljafería, stop at Poblet Abbey, then end with Gaudí in Barcelona.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Madrid - Cordoba
We depart Madrid by high–speed train around 11.00 – time to be confirmed – reaching Córdoba in under two hours at speeds of up to 300 km/h. In the former capital of the Islamic Caliphate, you’ll have time for lunch before we meet our local guide to visit the magnificent Mosque–Cathedral (admission included), a landmark that blends Islamic and Christian art. We then wander the Jewish Quarter, known for its narrow lanes and flower–filled patios that are emblematic of the city’s identity. You’ll have free time to stroll and take it all in before we transfer to the hotel.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Cordoba - Baena - Granada
After breakfast we drive through rolling olive groves to Baena – a town with Roman roots renowned for its premium olive oil. We visit the Núñez de Prado Olive Oil Mill, one of the oldest in the Mediterranean, housed in a building dating from the 18th century. Here we learn about traditional production methods and enjoy a tasting of pan con aceite – bread with olive oil.We then continue to Granada for a guided visit of the Alhambra – admission included – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. Lunch is included. In the afternoon you have free time to visit the cathedral or wander the Albaicín neighbourhood, where viewpoints offer spectacular views of the Alhambra.
Day 3 - Granada - Nerja - Frigiliana - Malaga
We leave Granada and cross the Sierra Nevada, then follow the Mediterranean along the Costa Tropical – a stretch with a mild microclimate that supports guava, mango and avocado, and once sugar cane. We stop in Nerja to admire its impressive cliffs before continuing to Frigiliana, one of Andalucía’s most beautiful white villages with steep, whitewashed lanes. Our journey then leads to Málaga, capital of the Costa del Sol, known for its many museums, as the birthplace of Picasso, and for its unfinished cathedral, La Manquita – the One-Armed Lady. You’ll have time for lunch and to explore the city centre, or, weather permitting, you can head to the beach for a swim.
Day 4 - Malaga - Puerto Banus - Setenil de las bodegas - Ronda - Jerez de la frontera
Today we travel through the Andalusian mountains and the White Villages. We begin in Puerto Banús, Marbella’s glamorous marina known for its yachts and upmarket boutiques, then continue to Setenil de las Bodegas, a striking village with houses built into the rock, before heading to Ronda, dramatically set above the Tajo Gorge. A typical lunch is included. You’ll have free time to stroll the old streets, then we visit the historic bullring – one of the oldest and most monumental in Spain – with entrance included. We continue to Jerez de la Frontera, where you’ll have time to explore the historic centre and, if you wish, sample tapas in traditional tabancos.
Day 5 - Jerez de la frontera - El Puerto de Santa Maria - Cadiz - Seville
After breakfast in Jerez de la Frontera, we explore the city’s traditions of wine, horses and flamenco. We visit the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art – tickets included – to tour the Carriage Museum and watch the training of Andalusian horses. Before leaving Jerez, we pause to photograph the exterior of the Moorish Alcázar.We continue to El Puerto de Santa María for a visit to the Osborne Wineries – tickets and tasting included – followed by some free time to enjoy the surroundings. We then board a boat to Cádiz for a scenic crossing of around half an hour. In Cádiz – one of the oldest cities in Europe – you have free time to explore the cathedral and the historic centre at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, we cross the bridge towards Seville, arriving by the end of the day.
Day 6 - Seville
After breakfast, we leave Seville for Italica – entrance and guided tour with a local guide included. Birthplace of emperors Trajan and Hadrian, this Roman site features an impressive amphitheatre that once seated around 25,000, along with baths and mosaics. We then continue to Palos de la Frontera, the port from which Columbus’s ships set sail in 1492. We visit the Monastery of La Rábida and the Wharf of the Caravels – entrance included – to see replicas of his vessels. You’ll have free time for lunch in Huelva. In the afternoon, we follow the Atlantic coast near Doñana National Park, noted for its biodiversity, and stop in El Rocío to visit its sanctuary and enjoy views over Doñana. We return to Seville in the late afternoon.
Day 7 - Seville - Zaragoza
This morning, we take a panoramic tour of Seville, visiting the cathedral and its famous Giralda, the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and the neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana. After the tour, we enjoy a boat ride on the Guadalquivir. In the afternoon, we transfer you to the station to board the high speed train to Zaragoza, scheduled to depart around 16:30 – the 850 km journey takes just under four hours. On arrival in Zaragoza, we transfer you to the hotel. Please note the train journey is unescorted.
Day 8 - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We begin with a panoramic tour of Zaragoza with a local guide, taking in the Cathedral–Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar and exploring the legacy of Goya through some of his masterpieces. We continue to the Roman theatre and a Renaissance palace, then enjoy a stroll by the Aljafería Palace. After lunch, we travel into Catalonia to visit the walled Poblet Abbey – one of the best‑preserved medieval monasteries in the world, with entrance included – before continuing to Barcelona, where we arrive in the evening.
Day 9 - Barcelona
This morning we set out on a panoramic tour of Barcelona – the Mediterranean‑facing capital renowned for Gaudí’s modernist architecture, the lively Ramblas, and the legacies of its World Expositions and Olympic Games. The tour concludes at Maremagnum – a contemporary leisure and dining complex by the sea beside Columbus Square – where you can take a relaxed stroll through the area. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore independently, and we return to the hotel at the end of the day.
Day 10 - Barcelona
After breakfast, we conclude the journey in Barcelona – leaving you with wonderful lasting memories.
