Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel. You have some free time until the tour begins, allowing you to settle in and explore at your leisure. For details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers, please check the information signs at the hotel reception. In the evening, we will provide a transfer to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, Madrid's renowned neighbourhood celebrated for its nightlife and array of tapas restaurants. Here, you have the option to dine at a restaurant of your choice, with a selection of Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern cuisines available. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
We start our day with an insightful tour of central Madrid, which will take us to some of the city's iconic landmarks, including Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza de Colón, and Plaza Mayor. Following this, we'll explore the tranquil Retiro Park, situated in the heart of the city, where we will enjoy the serene views of the lake and the elegant Palacio de Cristal. Our itinerary includes admission to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to the world-renowned Real Madrid football team. Following this, you will have the afternoon free to explore Madrid at your own pace. In the evening, we will arrange a convenient transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
On the morning of day three, we set off from Madrid towards the Aragon region, travelling through the historic lands of Castile. Our first stop is Zaragoza, where we’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the breathtaking Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, a significant architectural and religious site. Continuing our journey, we visit the tranquil Poblet Abbey, one of the world's best-preserved medieval monasteries, where admission is included. In the evening, we arrive in the vibrant city of Barcelona, concluding our day's exploration.
Day 4 - Barcelona
We'll begin our day in the captivating city of Barcelona, embarking on a panoramic tour that showcases why this destination is often regarded as one of Europe's most intriguing capitals. Located by the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is celebrated for its distinctive modernist architecture by Antoni Gaudí, the vibrant energy of Las Ramblas, and a rich historical legacy marked by events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. The afternoon offers you free time to delve deeper into the city's charms at your own pace. As evening descends, we'll provide a transfer to Maremagnum, an upbeat leisure and dining complex by the sea, situated near Plaza de Colón. Here, you can take a leisurely stroll and choose from a variety of dining experiences against the backdrop of the bustling harbour.
Day 5 - Barcelona - Paris
In the morning, we'll arrange a transfer to the station for your high-speed train journey from Barcelona to Paris, which is part of your itinerary. This comfortable journey will whisk you to your destination in just over six hours. Upon arrival in Paris, you'll be taken to your hotel for check-in. Your guide will be in touch later in the evening, or you can find information at the hotel reception. Please note that the train journey will be unaccompanied by a guide, allowing you some peaceful time to relax and take in the passing scenery.
Day 6 - Paris
We begin our day with a visit to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, a stunning example of French opulence and history, with its renowned gardens providing a breathtaking backdrop. Admission here isn't included, so you'll have the freedom to explore at your own pace. Upon our return to Paris, we'll explore Montmartre, a quaint bohemian neighbourhood famed for its artistic heritage and lively cabarets. To enrich your Parisian experience, we'll embark on a panoramic city tour with a knowledgeable local guide, allowing us to admire the city's grand avenues and iconic landmarks. After a full day of exploration, we'll head back to the hotel. For those looking to end the day with flair, there's an optional variety show available in the evening.
Day 7 - Paris
Today, we'll begin our exploration of central Paris with a visit to the renowned Eiffel Tower. You'll have the opportunity to venture up to the second floor of this iconic iron structure—tickets are included. Following this, we will embark on a leisurely boat cruise along the River Seine, which will last roughly one hour and fifteen minutes. The afternoon is yours to discover the charms of Paris at your own pace—please note that the transfer back to the hotel is not included. In the event that the queues at the Eiffel Tower are excessively long, we may move our visit to a different time or day to better accommodate your schedule.
Day 8 - Paris - Burgundy - Beaune - Lyon
Today, we travel through the picturesque Bourgogne region, celebrated for its scenic vineyards and exquisite wines. Our first destination is Beaune, a charming town nestled in the heart of Burgundy. Known for its delightful flower-adorned streets and the historic hospice, Beaune also hosts a captivating wine museum. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely lunch and a stroll through the town. Continuing our journey, we reach Lyon, once the capital of Roman Gaul, beautifully situated along the Rhône River. Lyon's historical centre is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We'll ascend via cable car to the stunning Notre-Dame de Fourvière, offering breathtaking views across the city. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Lyon at your own pace.Please note, in some cases, part of the group may proceed to Chambéry in the evening for an overnight stay. This nearby city, noted for its medieval charm and impressive castle, is the capital of the region known as de la Savoie. Should you find yourself in Chambéry, you will have the following morning to take in its sights.
Day 9 - Lyon - Geneva - Zurich
Today, we venture into Switzerland. On arrival in Geneva, we'll drive past the impressive Palace of Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. Our morning includes a visit to the delightful English Garden, home to the famous floral clock, and a chance to admire the towering Jet d?Eau, the tallest fountain in Europe. After enjoying lunch, our journey continues along the picturesque routes by Lake Geneva and Lake Neuch?tel, offering splendid views of the charming vineyards framed by majestic mountains. We'll take a break in Neuch?tel, where you can choose to wander along the lake, explore the historic town, or visit the 10th-century castle. Our journey concludes in Zurich, where we'll arrive in the late afternoon. Please note, if passenger numbers from Geneva to Zurich warrant it, this stretch of the journey may be by train, eliminating the stop in Neuch?tel.
Day 10 - Zurich
In Zurich, we begin our day by exploring this vibrant city, Switzerland's largest and a significant hub for finance and culture. Known for its wealth, Zurich consistently ranks as one of the world's best cities in terms of quality of life. Following our city exploration, we embark on a delightful cruise on Lake Zurich. This nearly two-hour journey includes picturesque stops at charming lakeside villages. We then disembark at Rapperswil, a delightful village celebrated for its medieval castle and scenic beauty. After exploring Rapperswil, we return to Zurich by train, giving us a chance to experience the famed efficiency of Swiss public transport. Please note: depending on group size, we may use public transport for transfers to and from the city centre.
Day 11 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today promises an enchanting journey through some of Switzerland's most breathtaking scenery, featuring towering mountains and crystal-clear lakes. We will start our adventure by heading toward the beautiful Interlaken region. Our first destination is the charming village of Grindelwald, where you can relax with a cup of coffee and soak in the stunning alpine views. Here, we'll take a cable car ride up the mountain, allowing you to drink in the remarkable vistas.Once at the top, a scenic path leads to a suspended bridge – perfect for those seeking a bit of adventure. Crossing this bridge rewards brave souls with magnificent views of the surrounding glaciers. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy lunch on the mountain, which is included in the day’s activities. We’ll then descend to visit the picturesque city of Lucerne, celebrated for its captivating beauty and historical charm. In Lucerne, you'll have time to explore and enjoy the idyllic setting. The day will conclude with a return to Zurich. For those looking for more, our guide offers an optional full-day excursion, beginning in the morning. This includes free time in Lucerne followed by a thrilling ride on a rotating cable car to the summit of Mount Titlis. The peak, standing over 3,000 metres above sea level, offers spectacular views of the glaciers and the majestic Alps.
Day 12 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We’ll set off from Zurich early in the morning, journeying across the Alps to reach the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first stop is Bellinzona, famed for its trio of medieval castles, which are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These majestic fortresses, perched on the hills, underscore Bellinzona's importance as a historic alpine stronghold. You’ll have some free time to meander through the charming streets of the town centre. We then cross into Italy, arriving at the delightful town of Como for lunch. Como, nestled in Lombardy, is celebrated for its stunning lakeside gardens and magnificent cathedral. After a leisurely break here, we continue our journey to Milan. Upon reaching Milan, our knowledgeable guide will lead you to the remarkable Piazza del Duomo, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the area at your own pace before we transfer you to your hotel for the evening.
Day 13 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Our journey continues today as we travel to Pisa. We’ll take a charming tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli, where you can marvel at one of Italy's most remarkable art complexes. Take some time to enjoy the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa and the surrounding architectural wonders. Later, we'll head to Rome, reaching this iconic city by the end of the day.
Day 14 - Rome
This morning, we shall embark on a comprehensive, three-hour guided exploration of Rome, an illustrious city brimming with history and culture. Our visit combines a guided walk through Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus tour, offering a glimpse into a city that has profoundly influenced Western civilization. We will encounter renowned landmarks, including the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the majestic Colosseum, the ancient Imperial Forums, the sprawling Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the splendid Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the intriguing Pyramid of Cestius, and the formidable Castel Sant'Angelo. Our morning tour will conclude around 11:00 a.m. upon reaching Vatican City. Here, our guide will present an optional opportunity for those interested in visiting the Vatican Museums and the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel. As evening descends, we will provide a transfer to Trastevere, a vibrant neighbourhood celebrated for its intimate restaurants and lively atmosphere, ensuring a memorable end to your day in the Eternal City. We shall return to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.
Day 15 - Rome
Following breakfast, our journey concludes—leaving you with cherished memories of your travels. Safe onward journey or return home, and we hope to see you on another adventure soon.
