Itinerary
Day 1 - Kilimanjaro - Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we meet and welcome you, then transfer you comfortably to Arusha’s city centre. You have the rest of the day at leisure – overnight in Arusha.
Day 2 - Arusha - Msasa Ranger Post
You have the morning at leisure – we then hold a safari briefing followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we join a seat in vehicle safari and depart Arusha, travelling across the Masai Steppe past villages and maize, coffee and banana plantations. At Makuyuni we turn north west and continue through a scenic escarpment to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with views over Lake Manyara. Overnight in Lake Manyara.
Day 3 - Robanda
After breakfast we set out on a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, returning just before lunch. We have lunch at the camp, then leave Lake Manyara and travel north west through the hilly highlands with wheat and coffee plantations, continuing into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here the vast Serengeti plains open up – we may start spotting wildlife well before we reach the park. We arrive at the camp in the evening for dinner and a good rest. Overnight in Serengeti.
Day 4 - Seronera
Wake to breakfast at the camp in Seronera, then set out on a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is renowned for its vast herds and the annual Great Migration, and its varied scenery – riverine forests and woodlands, rocky kopjes and an imposing volcano – forms a striking backdrop to wildlife viewing. We return to camp for lunch before heading out again for an afternoon game drive. With luck we may encounter the Big Five and perhaps members of the Little Five – antlion, rhino beetle, elephant shrew, buffalo weaver and leopard tortoise – along with plentiful birdlife and reptiles. Dinner is served at the camp.Overnight in Serengeti.
Day 5 - Meshili
After breakfast, we depart the Serengeti for Ngorongoro – enjoying game viewing across the vast plains en route. We stop for a picnic lunch, then continue to our lodge at the base of the conservation area, in or near the village of Karatu. Dinner is served at the lodge. Overnight in Ngorongoro.
Day 6 - Meshili
After breakfast, we descend around 2,000 feet through the early morning mists into Ngorongoro Crater – the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and often dubbed the world’s largest wildlife zoo. We spend the day game viewing across its varied habitats – forest, swamps, lakes and springs, open grassland and sand dunes – with a picnic lunch served beside a small lake frequented by hippos. We return to the lodge in the late afternoon – you then have time at leisure before dinner. Overnight in Ngorongoro.
Day 7 - Arusha
After breakfast, we depart Ngorongoro and drive past Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu towards Tarangire. We continue through the highlands and the Karatu district – a route with views of wheat plains and coffee plantations – before descending the escarpment to join the Arusha–Dodoma road. On arrival in Arusha town centre, we provide lunch, then transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure. Please ensure your onward flight from Kilimanjaro departs at or after 16:00.
