Day 1 - London
Welcome to London. On arrival, we arrange your transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free – you can relax after your journey or explore the surrounding area at your own pace. In the afternoon, please check the information boards at hotel reception for details of the tour start.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - London
In the morning, we take a guided city tour of London, visiting Westminster, Parliament, the City and the Thames. The afternoon is free – you can explore at your own pace or join an optional excursion to the Thames Valley, including Windsor and its castle. In the evening, we meet at Piccadilly for a guided walk through Leicester Square, Chinatown and Soho, known for their lively atmosphere, theatres and entertainment, before returning to the hotel by coach. Please note that, depending on arrival schedules, this evening programme may be operated on the previous day.
Day 3 - London
Enjoy a full free day in London to explore at your own pace. There are no scheduled activities – you can plan your own visits, wander the city’s streets, or simply take time to relax.
Day 4 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
We leave London and head north to Cambridge, where we admire its historic colleges. After lunch, we continue to York to see its impressive cathedral, Roman walls and lively shopping streets – you’ll have free time to explore. Later, we travel on to Durham, a vibrant medieval city with a magnificent cathedral set opposite the castle.
Day 5 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
We depart Durham and travel north into Scotland, stopping in Alnwick – a picturesque town known for its beautiful gardens and impressive medieval castle, featured in the Harry Potter films. We then continue to Edinburgh, arriving around midday. Scotland’s capital has a monumental centre recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, with the castle overlooking the city’s steep streets and parks. On arrival we take a panoramic tour with a local guide.
Day 6 - Edinburgh - Inverness - Loch Ness - Fort Augustus - Glasgow
We leave Edinburgh for a full day in the Highlands, beginning with a coffee and short stroll in Pitlochry. We then continue via Inverness towards Loch Ness, where we visit Urquhart Castle – admission included – and board a boat to cruise its dark waters. The route then leads past Fort Augustus, known for its lock system, and Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis. Heading south, we cross the high plateaus – often snow-dusted – and follow the shores of Loch Lomond, reaching Glasgow at the end of the day.Important note: For groups arriving in Edinburgh from 15 November to the end of February, the itinerary is adjusted due to shorter daylight and frequent snow. 08:00 am – departure from Edinburgh to Pitlochry (09:45 am – 11:15 am), with a visit to a traditional whisky distillery – admission included. Continue to Stirling (12:30 pm – 03:30 pm), with time to explore and tickets for Stirling Castle included. After a break for lunch, we stop to photograph The Kelpies before continuing to Glasgow, arriving at around 05:00 pm with time to stroll in the city centre.
Day 7 - Glasgow - Belfast
We leave Glasgow and travel south to Cairnryan to board the ferry across to Northern Ireland. On arrival in Belfast – the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland – we encounter a city shaped by the history between Protestant and Catholic communities; since the 1998 peace agreement it has seen a notable revival. You’ll then have free time to explore at your own pace – you may wish to visit the Titanic Museum, known for its striking architecture and status as the city’s most popular attraction. It stands in the historic shipyard where the Titanic was built, once one of the world’s most prominent shipbuilding centres.
Day 8 - Belfast - Cushendun - Ballycastle - Giants Causeway - Derry
After breakfast we depart Belfast and pass through Cushendun – a village designated a conservation area in 1980 for its architectural character and its setting within the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Around midday you have free time for lunch in the lively coastal town of Ballycastle – lunch is at your own expense. We then continue to Bushmills to visit the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery – entrance and guided tour included. Later we explore the Giant’s Causeway – entrance included – a striking expanse of around 40,000 basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity nearly 60 million years ago. We finish the day in Derry, where you have free time to stroll the walled city before the overnight stay.
Day 9 - Derry - Donegal - Marble arch - Belfast
We travel through mountain landscapes in the Republic of Ireland to Donegal, a lively, picturesque town, and include admission to its impressive medieval castle. Crossing back into Northern Ireland, we visit the Marble Arch Caves – admission included – one of Europe’s most notable cave systems, formed over 330 million years ago and extending for more than 11 kilometres, where underground rivers continue to shape the limestone. You’ll have free time for lunch – not included. After the visit, we continue to Belfast for arrival and free time.
Day 10 - Belfast - HILLSBOROUGH CASTLE - Dublin
We depart Belfast for Hillsborough Castle – admission included – the official government residence in Northern Ireland. This grand 18th century Georgian mansion sits amid woodlands, wildflower meadows and colourful gardens. You will have free time for lunch before we continue into the Republic of Ireland to visit Monasterboice – admission included – a 5th century monastic site famed for its tall Celtic crosses, especially Muiredach’s Cross. We then continue to Dublin, arriving mid afternoon, with the rest of the day free for you to explore.
Day 11 - Dublin
We begin the morning with a panoramic introduction to Dublin, Ireland’s capital. We’ll follow the River Liffey, spend time in its parks, and walk through the city centre. We’ll also view the exterior of Trinity College, the city’s historic university. The afternoon is free – you can continue exploring at your own pace. Please note: depending on our arrival time in Dublin and daylight hours, this tour may run on the previous afternoon instead.
Day 12 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
We board an early morning ferry for a 3–3½ hour crossing to Wales. On arrival, we head to Caernarfon, a seaside World Heritage Site dominated by its imposing castle – you’ll have time for lunch and a stroll. We then continue to Liverpool for a short city tour by bus through this major port. If you wish, you can visit the Beatles museum.
Day 13 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - London
Today we travel through central England. From Liverpool we make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s hometown, where you have free time to enjoy lunch and explore at your own pace. We then continue to Oxford, renowned for its long tradition in education and culture, having educated kings, politicians, philosophers and scientists. We continue to London, arriving in the evening.
Day 14 - London
After breakfast, we conclude the tour in London – we hope you head home with wonderful lasting memories of your journey.
