Day 1 - London
As you arrive in London, we ensure a smooth transfer to your hotel, allowing you the opportunity to unwind and settle in. You have the afternoon free to explore at your leisure. Discover the unique blend of tradition and modernity that London offers. At the hotel, you’ll find all the necessary information to kick-start your tour. Let the excitement of this enthralling city begin. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - London
On the second day of our adventure in London, we set out on a panoramic tour with an expert local guide to delve into the rich tapestry of the city’s culture and history. You'll witness the grandeur of landmarks like the Houses of Parliament, the bustling River Thames, and, depending on the timing of your visit, the iconic Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. As evening falls, we will gather at a designated meeting point in the vibrant heart of Piccadilly. From here, we’ll take a leisurely walk through the bustling streets of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho, each renowned for their dynamic atmospheres, thriving theatre scene, and diverse entertainment offerings. You are encouraged to choose from a variety of restaurants for dinner before we make our way back to the hotel for the night.
Day 3 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
We begin our third day with a morning visit to the British Museum, one of the most venerable institutions globally, bursting with artefacts that offer glimpses into the cultures of the world. Post-visit, you'll have some free time for lunch. Our next stop is Camden, famed for its dynamic street market, where you can wander through stalls brimming with eclectic finds and tempt your taste buds with a meal from one of its quaint eateries or bustling food stalls. By around 4:00 p.m., we set off to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England, where you can enjoy a leisurely walk through its charming historic streets. Our journey continues to Harwich, where we'll board the ferry for an overnight voyage to the Netherlands, settling into en suite cabins for the night. Please note, due to limited cabin availability, this itinerary may need to be adapted. Alternatives include a daytime ferry journey from London to Amsterdam with an overnight stop in Antwerp, or travelling to Amsterdam by train or flight.
Day 4 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
At approximately eight in the morning, we disembark in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland and head to Volendam. This delightful fishing village offers traditional charm and scenic views. Following our visit, we proceed to Amsterdam for a guided tour. Experience a mix of the city's diverse highlights, from the quintessential windmill and Rembrandt statue to the sophisticated South District and the historic craft of diamond cutting at Museum Square. We wrap up our tour with a leisurely stroll into the city centre, after which you can enjoy free time to explore Amsterdam at your own pace.
Day 5 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
We set off from Amsterdam and journey into Germany, with our first stop in the captivating town of Hamelin. This charming town is steeped in folklore, famously associated with the Brothers Grimm tale of the Pied Piper. Take a leisurely wander through its picturesque streets and explore local shops that evoke the enchanting atmosphere of the story. Continuing our adventure, we drive through Marienborn, once the border checkpoint separating East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. This historical passage serves as a poignant reminder of a divided past. As evening falls, we will reach the vibrant city of Berlin, where you'll have time to settle in and start soaking up the city's unique ambience.
Day 6 - Berlin
Today, you will delve into the rich heritage of Berlin, Germany's fascinating capital, on a guided tour with a local expert. Aboard our comfortable coach, you'll witness iconic landmarks such as Museum Island, the Television Tower, and the city's bustling shopping streets. Marvel at the remnants of the old cathedral, which bears the scars of World War II, and the majestic Brandenburg Gate alongside the Reichstag. Our tour includes poignant visits to both the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, offering a moment to reflect on Germany's complex history.
