Itinerary
Day 1 - Quito
On arrival at Mariscal Sucre International Airport, our bilingual English–Spanish guide meets you and provides a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Quito. During the drive, we share practical insights and answer any immediate questions to help you settle in. Overnight in Quito.
Day 2 - Quito - Cotopaxi
We collect you from your hotel in Quito and drive south to a rose plantation, where we learn about the cultivation and processing behind the country’s celebrated blooms. We then continue into Cotopaxi National Park for a gentle walk around Limpiopungo Lagoon, watching for Andean birdlife across the high Andean grasslands. If conditions allow, we ascend to the José Rivas Refuge at 4,800 metres for broad views of the volcano and surrounding páramo. Out on the grasslands, we pause for hot herbal tea – a simple, memorable break with Cotopaxi as the backdrop. Lunch is served in a cosy mountain lodge. Overnight in Cotopaxi.
Day 3 - Banos - Cotopaxi - Quilotoa
After breakfast, we travel along the Avenue of the Volcanoes towards Quilotoa, stopping – depending on the day – at a traditional indigenous market such as Zumbahua or Saquisilí to experience the bustle of local trade. We continue to the Tigua community for a hands on painting workshop, learning about its distinctive naïf art as we create our own piece with a local artisan. At Quilotoa Lagoon, you can hike down to the water or take in the views from the rim. We share an Andean lunch in a nearby community, then continue in the late afternoon to Baños. Overnight in Baños.
Day 4 - Banos - Quito - Baños de Agua Santa
After breakfast, we spend the day in Baños de Agua Santa – a town surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and the Tungurahua Volcano. We begin at the Casa del Árbol viewpoint, where you can try the Swing at the End of the World for sweeping canyon views. We then follow the Waterfall Route through lush valleys and deep gorges, crossing a tarabita cable car for a dramatic perspective over the river. The highlight is Pailón del Diablo, where we walk trails and suspension bridges to feel the force of the cascade up close. Later, enjoy free time in Baños – you can stroll the lively streets, taste fresh sugar cane juice and browse crafts made from tagua, known as vegetable ivory. In the evening, we return to Quito – overnight in Quito.
Day 5 - Quito
After breakfast at the hotel, our driver collects you at the scheduled time for a comfortable transfer to Mariscal Sucre International Airport – sit back, relax and enjoy a smooth end to your journey.
