Itinerary
Day 1 - Cairo
On arrival at Cairo International Airport, we meet you, assist with visa formalities and luggage, and transfer you to your city hotel in comfort. Settle in as we drive through lively streets – your first glimpse of Egypt’s buzzing capital. The rest of the day is at leisure: you can relax at the hotel, explore the neighbourhood or linger over coffee in a local café before the journey continues.
Day 2 - Giza - Mit Rahineh (Memphis)
We begin at the Great Pyramids of Giza – the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World – learning about their construction and the pharaohs who commissioned them more than 4,000 years ago. We gaze upon the enigmatic Great Sphinx, its lion’s body and human face guarding the plateau. We continue to Memphis, once the Old Kingdom capital, to visit the open air museum and admire the impressive statue of Ramses II and other early dynastic artefacts. We then discover Saqqara, home to Egypt’s first pyramid – the Step Pyramid of King Djoser – a pioneering achievement that charts the early evolution of royal tombs.
Day 3 - Cairo
We take a short flight from Cairo to Luxor, trading the modern capital for Egypt’s ancient heart. As we cross the desert, sweeping views of sand and the Nile unfold – a fitting prelude to the city of temples and tombs. On arrival, we pause at the towering Colossi of Memnon for a memorable photo stop. We then enter the Valley of the Kings, final resting place of great pharaohs including Tutankhamun, stepping inside beautifully painted tombs that bring beliefs about the afterlife to life. Next, we admire the elegant terraces of Queen Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple beneath dramatic cliffs, before continuing to Medinet Habu, the richly decorated mortuary temple of Ramses III. After dusk, we explore Luxor Temple under the night sky – soaring columns and glowing hieroglyphs creating a magical finale.
Day 4 - Edfu
We wander through the awe inspiring Karnak Temple complex – a vast sanctuary dedicated to Amun Ra, with its forest of colossal columns, tranquil sacred lake and intricate reliefs. We then embark on a leisurely Nile cruise from Luxor to Edfu, settling into the unhurried rhythm of the river as we glide past ancient temples, palm groves and small riverside villages – a timeless portrait of Egypt’s heartland.
Day 5 - Edfu - Kom Ombo
We explore the magnificent Temple of Horus at Edfu – one of the best preserved ancient temples – where towering columns and detailed hieroglyphs showcase superb Ptolemaic craftsmanship. We continue downstream to Kom Ombo; as the ship glides along, you can take in sweeping Nile views and watch daily life on the banks. We visit the unique riverside temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon headed god – its symmetrical design and fascinating carvings make it wonderfully photogenic. We cruise south to Aswan, savouring tranquil views of palm lined shores and traditional feluccas – this stretch offers some of Upper Egypt’s most scenic vistas.
Day 6 - Philae Temple
We step aboard a traditional felucca to experience the timeless charm of the Nile – gliding quietly past palm fringed banks, green islands and riverside villages as the breeze fills the sails. We then sail to Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis – an enchanting island sanctuary where intricate carvings and a peaceful setting reflect centuries of devotion. Finally, we visit the mighty Aswan High Dam to witness one of Egypt’s most significant feats of modern engineering and learn how it tamed the Nile, created Lake Nasser and reshaped the landscape and lives along its course.
Day 7 - Cairo
We take a short morning flight from Aswan to Cairo, returning to the lively capital. We explore the world renowned Egyptian Museum, home to one of the greatest collections of ancient artefacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun – an early visit that offers a compelling window into Egypt’s royal past.
Day 8 - Cairo
Today is free in Cairo – you can relax, linger in local cafés or wander vibrant streets at your own pace. Later, we transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your departing flight. As you leave, take a moment to reflect on an unforgettable journey through Egypt and bid farewell to this remarkable land.
