Itinerary
Day 1 - Cairo
On arrival at Cairo International Airport, we meet you, assist with visa formalities and luggage, and provide a comfortable transfer to your city hotel. Settle back as we drive through lively streets for your first glimpse of the capital. The rest of the day is at leisure – you can unwind at the hotel, discover a local café or wander the vibrant neighbourhoods at your own pace.
Day 2 - Giza - Cairo - Aswan
We stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza – the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World – and consider the pharaohs who commissioned them and the ingenuity behind their construction. We then gaze at the enigmatic Great Sphinx, guardian of the plateau and a focus of enduring legend. We pause to sample koshary – a hearty medley of lentils, rice, pasta, chickpeas and tangy tomato sauce – for an authentic taste of daily life. Later, we explore the world–renowned Egyptian Museum, home to one of the finest collections of ancient artefacts, including treasures from Tutankhamun, before boarding the overnight train to Aswan from Ramses Station.
Day 3 - Aswan
We arrive in the serene riverside city of Aswan, where the Nile flows wide and calm. We sail to the Temple of Philae, the beautiful island sanctuary dedicated to Isis, its intricate carvings and tranquil setting evoking centuries of devotion. Afterwards, we drift along the Nile to a traditional Nubian village and spend the night in a Nubian–style guesthouse, discovering colourful mud–brick homes, meeting friendly locals and experiencing warm hospitality shaped by the river’s culture.
Day 4 - Aswan
We board a traditional felucca and glide downstream, taking in palm–lined banks and timeless Nubian scenery as the river moves at an unhurried pace – a graceful sail that captures the essence of Egypt’s great waterway. As dusk falls, we spend a peaceful night aboard beneath a canopy of stars, lulled by the current – an authentic river experience close to life along the Nile.
Day 5 - Edfu - Luxor - Aswan
After our scenic felucca journey, we disembark in Aswan and meet our vehicle for the drive north to Edfu, passing fields and rural villages along the Nile. On arrival, we explore the impressive Temple of Horus, among the best–preserved sanctuaries in Egypt, where soaring columns and finely carved hieroglyphs showcase Ptolemaic craftsmanship. We continue through the Nile Valley to Luxor and, in the evening, we visit Luxor Temple as its columns and reliefs glow in warm light – a magical setting that brings history to life.
Day 6 - Luxor
We explore the legendary Valley of the Kings, final resting place of Egypt’s great pharaohs – including Tutankhamun – stepping inside richly painted tombs that illuminate beliefs about the afterlife. We then discover Deir el Medina, the village of artisans who built and decorated the royal tombs, offering a rare window into daily life. We admire the elegant terraces of Queen Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple beneath dramatic cliffs and pause at the towering Colossi of Memnon before wandering through the awe–inspiring Karnak complex, with its forest of columns, sacred lake and intricate reliefs.
