Day 1 - Paris
Upon your arrival in Paris, you'll be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel. Once settled, feel free to enjoy some leisure time to explore or unwind at your own pace. In the afternoon, you'll receive details about the commencement of the tour, which will be communicated either in person or via information displayed at the hotel reception. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Paris
On the second day of your journey, we delve into the captivating history of France by visiting the illustrious Palace of Versailles. While admission isn't included, you'll have the chance to explore its world-renowned gardens. After this splendid experience, we head back to Paris and make our way to Montmartre. This vibrant district is celebrated for its bohemian atmosphere and artistic heritage, housing numerous painters, musicians, and iconic cabarets. As we continue our day, a local guide will lead us on a panoramic tour of Paris, highlighting the grandeur of its wide boulevards and remarkable landmarks. We return to the hotel later in the day. For those interested, there's an optional variety show available in the evening.
Day 3 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our day in the heart of Paris with a visit to the world-renowned Eiffel Tower, where we have included tickets for you to ascend to the second floor of this iconic structure. Afterward, we’ll relax on a scenic boat cruise along the River Seine. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your leisure.Around 4:00 p.m., we depart the city and journey to Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Here, you have free time to wander the ancient streets of a place rich in history, dating back to Roman times. Discover the charming medieval architecture and the awe-inspiring Gothic cathedral that contribute to Rouen's cultural allure.Please note, in the event of long wait times at the Eiffel Tower, we may reschedule the visit for your convenience, possibly moving it to Sunday.
Day 4 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today begins with a leisurely walk through the historic centre of Rouen, a city steeped in history. Afterwards, we'll make our way to northern France, where we will cross the English Channel by ferry, arriving in Canterbury. Known as the religious heart of England, Canterbury boasts a delightful historic centre. Our day continues with a journey to London, where you'll have some free time to explore the vibrant area around Tower Bridge, one of the city's most recognised landmarks, before we proceed to the hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - London
Today, we'll explore the vibrant city of London on a panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide, delving into the rich culture and history of the British capital. We'll pass by the iconic Houses of Parliament, glide along the scenic River Thames, and visit Buckingham Palace, where you might catch the famed Changing of the Guard—contingent upon the dates. In the evening, we'll gather at a designated spot in Piccadilly to enjoy a leisurely walk through the bustling areas of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. These districts are celebrated for their dynamic atmosphere, diverse theatres, and abundant entertainment options. You'll have the liberty to choose from a variety of restaurants for dinner before we make our way back to the hotel.
Day 6 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
We begin our day departing from London towards the north of England. Our first stop is Cambridge, where we will admire the city's stunning colleges, steeped in centuries of academic tradition. After enjoying your lunch, we proceed to York, a city known for its magnificent cathedral, ancient Roman walls, and vibrant shopping streets. You'll have some free time here to explore and soak up the unique atmosphere. Later, our journey takes us further north to the medieval town of Durham, where you'll encounter its breathtaking cathedral standing in front of the impressive castle.
Day 7 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
Our journey today takes us onwards to Scotland, beginning with a visit to the charming town of Alnwick. Known for its beautiful gardens and a large medieval castle that featured in the Harry Potter films, Alnwick offers a delightful pause in our travels. We then proceed to Edinburgh, arriving around midday. This vibrant city, the capital of Scotland, boasts a monumental centre that has earned the prestigious status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Edinburgh Castle, perched majestically above the city, provides a stunning backdrop to our panoramic tour guided by a local expert. As we explore the steep streets and picturesque parks, you'll embrace the unique blend of history and culture that defines this Northern European gem.
Day 8 - Edinburgh - Inverness - Loch Ness - Fort Augustus - Glasgow
Today promises an exhilarating exploration of the Scottish Highlands. We begin with a leisurely coffee and wander around Pitlochry, a quaint village full of charm. Our journey then takes us to Inverness, skirting the famed Loch Ness. We'll visit Urquhart Castle, where you'll embark on a boat ride over the enigmatic waters of Loch Ness – don't forget to look out for Nessie! Our travels continue through Fort Augustus, with its intriguing sluice system, and past Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak.As we head south, you'll be treated to stunning views of the high plateaus often dusted with snow, before we meander alongside the stunning shores of Loch Lomond. Our day concludes in Glasgow, where we'll arrive by nightfall, ready to relax after a day of awe-inspiring landscapes and rich history. Please note that from 15th November to the end of February, we adapt this itinerary due to shorter daylight hours and possible snowy conditions. In this case, our day starts with a visit to Pitlochry and its traditional whisky distillery, with entry included. We then proceed to Stirling, where the grand Stirling Castle, included in your visit, stands witness to Scotland's storied past. After lunch and a photographic stop at The Kelpies, striking sculptures inspired by Scottish folklore, our journey ends in Glasgow, allowing time to explore the city centre by 5:00 p.m.
Day 9 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
Today, we set off from Glasgow, travelling south through the scenic landscapes of Scotland to the ferry terminal in Cairnryan. From there, we’ll embark on a sea crossing to reach Northern Ireland. Our first destination is Belfast, a city rich in history and undergoing a vibrant transformation following its period of religious conflict. After exploring Belfast, we continue our journey into the Republic of Ireland, concluding our day in the lively capital city, Dublin, where we will arrive by evening.
Day 10 - Dublin
Our day in Dublin begins with a scenic tour of Ireland's charming capital. We’ll amble along the banks of the River Liffey, taking in the city’s inviting parks, historic university, and lively downtown streets. You'll have the opportunity to admire the exterior of Trinity College, which houses the famous Book of Kells. The afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure, so feel free to delve deeper into Dublin’s cultural offerings, perhaps visiting one of its renowned museums or enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Temple Bar. Please note that depending on our arrival time and daylight availability, we might conduct part of this tour in the previous afternoon.
Day 11 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
We begin our day by boarding an early morning ferry to cross from Dublin to Wales, a journey that takes approximately three to three-and-a-half hours. Upon arrival, we will make our way to Caernarfon, a coastal town renowned for its majestic castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have time to enjoy lunch and meander through the town's streets, soaking in its maritime charm. Later, we will continue our adventure to Liverpool. Here, a brief bus tour will introduce you to the city’s rich heritage, recognised as a World Heritage Site thanks in part to its historic port, the second-largest in the United Kingdom. If you're a fan of music history, you might want to visit The Beatles Museum during your time here.
Day 12 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - London
Today, we delve into the heart of central England. Our journey begins with a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of the legendary playwright William Shakespeare. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore at your leisure and enjoy a delightful lunch amidst the town's charming streets. Once we leave Stratford, our next destination is Oxford, a city famed for its prestigious university and its historical contributions to education and culture. Oxford’s storied past has seen it nurture the minds of kings, politicians, philosophers, and scientists. In the evening, we will continue to London, where we will arrive ready to unwind after a day filled with exploration and cultural discovery.
Day 13 - London
As your journey draws to a close, relish a final breakfast in London before we bid farewell. You'll depart with a treasury of unforgettable memories from the diverse and enriching experiences encountered throughout this captivating tour.
