Day 1 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our adventure in the heart of Paris, where we'll visit the iconic Eiffel Tower. You'll have access to the second floor of this remarkable iron structure, with tickets included. Following our tower visit, we will unwind with a leisurely boat cruise along the Seine, taking in the city's beautiful sights from the water. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris as you wish. At around 4:00 p.m., we will depart Paris and make our way to Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Upon arrival, you'll have free time to wander the charming medieval streets, admire the impressive Gothic cathedral, and soak in Rouen's rich history, which stretches back to Roman times. Should there be extended wait times at the Eiffel Tower, please note that we may rearrange our visit to a more convenient time, potentially later in the itinerary. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
We begin our day with a leisurely walk through the heart of Rouen, appreciating its rich history and captivating architecture. After soaking in the charm of this historic city, we set off towards northern France. Our journey includes a scenic ferry crossing over the English Channel, leading us to Canterbury, revered as the religious epicentre of England. With its picturesque historic centre, Canterbury invites exploration. Later, we travel to London, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy free time in the vibrant Tower Bridge area, a quintessential symbol of the city. Our day concludes as we proceed to our hotel for the night.
Day 3 - London
Explore the vibrant city of London on a panoramic tour guided by a local expert, offering a rich insight into the city's cultural and historical tapestry. You'll catch sight of renowned landmarks, including the iconic Parliament, the majestic River Thames, and the regal Buckingham Palace, where you may be fortunate enough to see the Changing of the Guard – a quintessential British spectacle (subject to scheduling). In the evening, we’ll reconvene at a meeting point in Piccadilly, ready to embark on a leisurely stroll through the bustling areas of Leicester Square, the vibrant Chinatown, and the dynamic Soho. Day 4 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
On the fourth day of our tour, we leave the vibrant city of London and journey northwards towards the university town of Cambridge. Here, we have the opportunity to admire the city’s stunning colleges, which boast beautiful architecture and are steeped in academic history. After a leisurely lunch, our travels take us to York, a city celebrated for its rich history. In York, you'll explore its remarkable cathedral, stroll along the ancient Roman walls, and experience the bustling shopping streets. Following some free time in York, we head further north to the medieval town of Durham. Renowned for its impressive cathedral standing proudly next to the castle, Durham offers a glimpse into the past with its vibrant charm.
Day 5 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
We journey onward to Scotland, pausing at Alnwick, a charming town famed for its expansive medieval castle and stunning gardens, which featured prominently in the Harry Potter films. We then continue to Edinburgh, arriving around midday. As Scotland's capital, and one of the most dynamic cities in Northern Europe, Edinburgh's historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasting a dramatic skyline dominated by the castle amidst the intricate streets and verdant parks. We'll further explore this captivating city with a panoramic tour led by a local guide, ensuring you get an insightful introduction to its rich history and culture.
Day 6 - Edinburgh
Today, you'll have the opportunity to explore Edinburgh at your leisure. This free day is yours to wander through the city's enchanting streets, discovering its historic and cultural gems. Whether you're interested in visiting iconic landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle or simply wish to soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the local cafes and shops, the day is entirely in your hands to make the most of Scotland's captivating capital.
Day 7 - Edinburgh - The Kelpies - Stirling - Pitlochry - Culloden - Inverness
After departing Edinburgh, we’ll visit The Kelpies to capture some memorable photos of these towering equine sculptures. Symbolising the integral role of horses in Scottish mythology, they aptly reflect the connection between water and land. We then proceed to Stirling, home to an impressive historic town and a dramatic castle, a site of pivotal events in Scottish history, including legendary battles and royal coronations – the castle entry is included. Our journey continues north to Pitlochry, a quaint town nestled in Scotland's whisky-producing heartland, where you'll have time for lunch and a leisurely stroll. We move on to Culloden, the site of a crucial battle that marked a turning point in Scottish history, highlighting the tensions between Scotland and England. Known as the "Capital of the Highlands," Inverness welcomes us in the evening with its notable castle. Consider taking a picturesque walk along the River Ness and admire the charming suspension bridge. Note: Depending on the time of year and available daylight, our stop at Culloden may be adjusted to occur on Monday.
Day 8 - Inverness
We begin our day with a drive through northern Scotland's mesmerising landscapes, highlighted by deep forests, tranquil lochs, and dramatic fjords. Our first destination is the picturesque Eilean Donan Castle, magnificently perched at the confluence of three sea lochs. Admission is included, allowing you to fully explore this iconic setting. Following this, we head to Fort Augustus, where you can enjoy a relaxing lunch and wander by the sluice gates, a remarkable feature of the Caledonian Canal.In the afternoon, we proceed to the enigmatic Loch Ness, where a boat tour of the lake's mysterious waters awaits us, offering a chance to glimpse the legendary creature said to inhabit its depths. The journey continues with a visit to Urquhart Castle, a historic fortress offering stunning views of the loch – admissions are covered in your itinerary.We conclude our day in Inverness, the cultural heart of the Highlands, situated at the mouth of the River Ness. Here, we invite you to deepen your understanding of Scotland's cherished national beverage at a traditional whisky distillery. The tour includes a tasting session to experience the distinct flavours that make Scotch whisky renowned worldwide.Please note that the schedule for the distillery visit might vary depending on availability and could be conducted either late Sunday or on Monday. Tonight, you will be spending your night in Inverness, ready for tomorrow’s adventures.
Day 9 - Inverness - Fort William - Inveraray - Loch Lomond - Glasgow
Continuing our adventure through Scotland's breathtaking landscapes, we first pause at Spean Bridge to visit a memorial dedicated to the heroism of the Second World War. Our journey then takes us to Fort William, a charming tourist hub located at the base of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. Passing by the evocative ruins of Kilchurn Castle, situated by a dark, tranquil loch, we continue to Inveraray. This picturesque historic village, perched by Loch Fyne, boasts an impressive castle and quaint, peaceful streets – an excellent spot for our lunch break. Afterward, we'll make our way along the picturesque shores of Loch Lomond before arriving in Glasgow by evening. Here, you’ll have time to discover the vibrant atmosphere of the city’s centre.
Day 10 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
Today begins with our departure from Glasgow as we venture south through the scenic landscapes of Scotland. Our first stop is Cairnryan, where we board a ferry bound for Northern Ireland. Our journey takes us to Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, a city that has seen remarkable transformation and growth despite its complex historical backdrop. After exploring the city's monumental highlights, we cross into Eire, Ireland. Our day concludes as we reach Dublin by nightfall, allowing you to experience the vibrant pulse of Ireland's capital city.
Day 11 - Dublin
Our day in Dublin begins with a panoramic tour of Ireland’s tranquil capital. We’ll explore the banks of the River Liffey, taking in the city’s splendid parks, the historic university precinct, and the lively streets of the downtown area. A highlight of the morning is a view of the exterior of the prestigious Trinity College. The afternoon is yours to discover Dublin at your own pace, whether by exploring cultural sites, indulging in some shopping, or simply enjoying the city’s inviting atmosphere. Please note that, depending on our arrival time in Dublin and daylight hours, this tour might be conducted on the preceding afternoon.
Day 12 - Dublin - Powerscourt - Kilkenny - Cashel - Cork
Today, we will leave Dublin behind as we set off for Powerscourt, a short drive away. Here, we'll explore the splendid Powerscourt Gardens – crafted in the 18th century, they boast the title of Ireland's most beautiful gardens. Enjoy the captivating fountains, serene Japanese Gardens and even a pet cemetery during our visit (admission included). Our journey then leads us to Kilkenny, a vibrant town where you'll have time to savour lunch and wander around at your leisure. In the afternoon, we'll continue south to visit the majestic Rock of Cashel (admission included). This medieval fortress stands as a testament to Ireland's historic struggle against England. As evening approaches, we'll reach Cork, Ireland's second-largest city, offering a delightful centre perfect for a leisurely stroll. Dinner will be included, allowing us to relish the lively atmosphere of this remarkable city.
Day 13 - Cork - Kinsale - Killarney - Limerick
We'll start our day in Cork and journey to the coastal town of Kinsale, making a stop at the historic Charles Fort. Here, you can take in the breathtaking ocean views from this 17th-century stronghold. Afterwards, you'll have time to wander the charming streets of Kinsale, known for its vibrant maritime heritage and picturesque harbour.We'll then head to Killarney, a lively town nestled in the heart of Ireland. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and explore at your own pace. Included in your experience is a delightful jaunting car tour through Killarney National Park, offering scenic views as you travel through its lush landscapes to the beautiful shores of Ross Castle. A short cruise on the lake enhances your day with more stunning vistas of the surrounding area. Our journey continues with a brief visit to Adare, renowned for its delightful stone cottages with thatched roofs and the remnants of a medieval abbey. We'll arrive in Limerick by mid-afternoon, where you can take time to explore the city centre, visit historic sites like the castle and cathedral, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk along the river. Dinner is included to round off your day.
Day 14 - Limerick - Cliffs of Moher - Galway
Our day begins with a visit to Bunratty Folk Park, where we've secured your tickets. This delightful park offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing life in historical Ireland with its traditional cottages and quaint market setups. At its heart lies a castle, faithfully capturing medieval life. We then journey to Caherconnell, home to the Poulnabrone Dolmen. Here, you'll get a fascinating insight into ancient burial traditions, and if luck is on our side, we might catch a demonstration of dogs expertly herding sheep. Our day also includes a visit to the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Moher, where admission is included. These majestic cliffs provide a breathtaking view across the ocean. Here, we explore the historic ruins of the Royal Abbey and take a leisurely stroll around the grounds of Ashford Castle, a magnificent medieval fortress now operating as a luxury hotel. Our journey continues to Clonmacnoise, a site of immense historical significance as one of Ireland’s most important early Christian monastic centres. We will explore the Celtic monastic ruins with a guided tour, providing rich insights into the spiritual and cultural history of the region. We'll then proceed to Dublin, reaching the city by evening, where you can enjoy your evening at leisure.
Day 16 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
Our adventure today begins with an early morning ferry ride, lasting between three to three and a half hours, bringing us to Wales. Our first destination is the coastal town of Caernarfon, where the striking castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, takes pride of place. You'll have time to enjoy lunch and explore this charming town. We then head to Liverpool, another World Heritage Site known for its historic significance and vibrant culture. During our short bus tour, you’ll catch glimpses of the city’s maritime heritage as the second-largest port in the United Kingdom. If you're a fan of music history, you might be drawn to visit The Beatles Museum.
Day 17 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - Portsmouth - Saint-Malo Ferry
We begin our day travelling through the picturesque south of England, with our first stop at the charming town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Here, you'll have the chance to enjoy lunch and wander through the birthplace of Shakespeare, soaking up its unique blend of history and literary significance. We then head to Oxford, a city renowned worldwide for its prestigious university and contribution to education and culture. Oxford's historic streets have groomed numerous kings, statesmen, philosophers, and scientists. Our journey continues to Portsmouth, where we will board a modern ferry to France. You will spend the night on board, comfortably accommodated in en-suite double cabins with bunk beds. Please note, given ferry availability, our crossing itinerary might occasionally vary. We recommend packing a small overnight bag for your convenience during the ferry journey. Kindly remember, breakfast is not included during our crossing.
Day 18 - Portsmouth - Saint-Malo Ferry - Mont-Saint-Michel - Fougeres - Chartres - Paris
Having set sail overnight from Portsmouth, we arrive in the heart of Normandy, ready to explore one of France's most iconic landmarks, Mont-Saint-Michel. This extraordinary island commune is crowned by a stunning abbey that seems to rise majestically from the sea. After soaking in this magnificent view, we journey onward to Fougères, a delightful town nestled at the base of Europe's largest fortress. Here, you will have the opportunity to wander through its ancient cobbled streets and savour a leisurely lunch. Our day continues with a visit to Chartres, where we pause to marvel at the city's magnificent Gothic cathedral, renowned for its exquisite stained glass windows.
