Day 1 - Frankfurt - Mainz
Arrive in Mainz and board the MS Crucevita to embark on an enchanting cruise through the Rhine Valley. Check-in is from 4:00 p.m., but if you arrive earlier, you can securely leave your luggage at reception and perhaps explore a bit of Mainz, time permitting. Delight in a welcome reception and dinner, setting the tone for the journey ahead. Throughout the night, we will sail, gently making our way along the picturesque river. Please be aware that other travellers might join or leave the cruise at different points, and while the group configuration may vary, it will always remain within the maximum size. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mainz - Mannheim
On our second day, we awaken in Mannheim, a lively university city where the Rhine and Neckar rivers meet. Known for its historical connections to the automotive industry, Mannheim is where Karl Drais crafted the first two-wheeled vehicle in 1817, and where Carl Benz debuted his groundbreaking automobile in 1886. From here, we visit Heidelberg, home to a prestigious university established in the 14th century and a stunning hilltop palace offering sweeping views. As dusk descends, we resume our journey, sailing through the night.
Day 3 - Mannheim - Strasbourg
Today, we embrace the allure of Strasbourg, the capital of French Alsace and a true gem in the heart of Europe. Renowned for its captivating blend of French and German influences, this city offers a delightful tapestry of history and culture. In the morning, we embark on a guided exploration, commencing with a panoramic drive to capture the essence of Strasbourg’s beauty, before venturing on foot through its enchanting historic centre. Marvel at the architectural splendour of landmarks such as the magnificent Strasbourg Cathedral.After a leisurely lunch aboard, you have the afternoon open to make the most of your time in Strasbourg. You may wish to continue your exploration independently, or consider a visit to Colmar, one of Alsace's quintessential villages, famous for its picturesque streets and charming timber-framed houses. In the evening, we set sail once more, gliding through the night towards our next destination.
Day 4 - Strasbourg - Worms - Rudesheim am Rhein
Today, we begin our day in the historically rich town of Worms, set in the heart of the Palatinate. Known for its impressive cathedral, Worms is a city teeming with history and culture. After our guided morning city tour, you’ll have some free time to explore at your leisure before we gather for lunch. Post-lunch, we continue our journey along the scenic Rhine, reaching the charming town of Rüdesheim by mid-afternoon. Here, you can enjoy the local sights as we prepare for an overnight stay, soaking up the unique atmosphere of this delightful riverside destination.
Day 5 - Rudesheim am Rhein - Romantic Rhine - Koblenz
On Day 5, we are set to embark on a journey through one of Europe's most picturesque landscapes as we navigate the Romantic Rhine. This renowned 65-kilometre stretch of river, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is celebrated for its captivating vistas, historic charm, and a wealth of castles and vineyards—each whispering tales of the past, including the legendary Lorelei siren. Our day includes exploring the cities on either end of this iconic route—Rüdesheim and Koblenz, each brimming with unique charm. As night descends, we'll continue our voyage through this enchanting part of the world.
Day 6 - Koblenz - Cologne
We will arrive early in Cologne, one of Germany's most significant cities. Our walking tour will guide us through the historic centre, culminating at the city's most iconic structure, the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), which is the seat of the Archbishopric. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, offering opportunities to explore the city's famed breweries, bustling shopping streets, and delightful perfumeries. Alternatively, you might choose to take an optional visit to nearby Düsseldorf. Dinner will be served on board before we set sail, continuing our journey overnight.
Day 7 - Cologne - Coenhaven - Amsterdam
We journey to Amsterdam in the early afternoon, where the city's vibrant energy and unique charm await. Known as the "Venice of the North," Amsterdam captivates with its picturesque canals and countless bridges. You'll have time to explore its enchanting streets and soak in the lively atmosphere during an engaging city tour we provide. As the day culminates, we'll spend the night amidst this dynamic European capital.
Day 8 - Amsterdam
On the final day of your journey, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. While you'll need to leave your cabin at this time, there's no rush to depart Amsterdam as you can leave your luggage safely on board. Spend some relaxing moments in the communal areas or take the opportunity to further explore this captivating city at your leisure.
