Day 1 - Goa to Gadag, Lakkundi & Hampi
Goa to Hampi via Gadag and Lakkundi – 340 km – around 7 hours by road. After breakfast at your hotel in Goa, we meet your driver and set off for Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. En route we stop in Gadag to visit the Trikuteshwara Temple, noted for its architecture. We then continue to Lakkundi to see its historic temples, including Mallikarjuna, Virabhadra and Lakshminarayana. On arrival in Hampi we check in at the hotel – you can unwind and prepare for tomorrow. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Hampi
After breakfast at the hotel, we set out to explore Hampi’s major monuments. We begin at Virupaksha Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, before continuing to the Vittala Temple complex to see the celebrated stone chariot, musical pillars and finely carved sculptures. In the Zenana Enclosure, we visit the graceful Lotus Mahal and the impressive Elephant Stables, exemplars of Vijayanagara architecture. We then take in the Hazara Rama Temple, noted for its intricate bas reliefs depicting episodes from the Ramayana.
In the afternoon, we explore the Royal Enclosure and pause at the Queen’s Bath, appreciating the scale and detail of these historic spaces. We end the day with a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Tungabhadra River at sunset – a calm close to a full day of discovery – before returning to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Hampi to Bijapur
After breakfast, we drive 220 km – around 4 hours – from Hampi to Vijayapura, formerly known as Bijapur. On arrival we check in and take a short break, then set out to explore Vijayapura Fort with Asar Mahal, Gol Gumbaz and Jama Masjid, key monuments of the Adil Shahi dynasty. We continue to Bara Kaman, Malik–e–Maidan, Mehtar Mahal and Ibrahims Rouza, appreciating the city’s remarkable architecture before returning to the hotel to unwind. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Bijapur to Badami
Bijapur – Badami (120 km/approx 2.3 hours). After breakfast, we drive to Badami. On arrival, we check in, then head out to Aihole to explore its early Chalukyan heritage, visiting highlights such as the Durga Temple, Lad Khan Temple, Ravanaphadi cave temple, Huchimalli Temple, the Meganagudi group, Gowda Temple and Huchappayyagudi Temple. We continue to Pattadakal – a UNESCO World Heritage site – to see its Hindu and Jain temple complexes, including Virupaksha, the Jain temple, Papanatha, Galaganath and Sangameshwara. We then visit the Mahakuta group of temples, noted for its Dravidian architecture and detailed stonework.Back in Badami, we explore the 6th‑century rock‑cut cave temples carved into the sandstone cliffs, then climb to Badami Fort for panoramic views over the town and surrounding landscape. We round off the day at Agastya Lake, set below the cliffs, before returning to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 - Badami to Goa
Badami – Goa (250 km – around 5 hours) After breakfast, we depart Badami and drive to Goa, travelling through the scenic Western Ghats. It’s a relaxed journey and a good moment to reflect on the historic sites visited over the past days. On arrival in Goa, we drop you at your hotel or at Goa airport, concluding your journey through Karnataka.
